    it's not civilized behavior,

    such and ignorant...

  • @dr55diver oh the irony.

  • That bass line is really tight. Love it!

Love her as well of course. I envy Christer Engen for getting Norway's most beautiful musician:)

  • her voice is amazing and thanks for say egypt name so lovely

  • whats this song about exactly?

Egypt Egypt Egypt i love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • She is awesome Sina. Thanks darling

  • Like it or not , the craddle of modern civilization is Egypt

  • That country? until that country became monotheistic? You do not have much of serenity,do you? to try to belittle Egypt like that? Egypt is a goddess...

  • thank you for your words really and we also like chinese peoples .

  • Shush, why does everything have to end up in religious or ethnic fight??? Just listen to the song and praise it or not!

  • I agree!

  • yes i do agree .. it's a beautiful song

  • Nah, the cradle of civilization is in babylon.. Egypt was unto something, until that country became monotheistic.

  • the craddle of modern civilization is Egypt and/or mesopotamia(Iraq).

  • You people is really something...

Elvira sings about her own break with Christianity. Her family is deeply religious christians, and she broke out when she was 18. Like all intelligent people should do. "Found my way out of Egypt" is meant as a biblical reference for breaking out of religious oppression. Poetry, you ignorants! It has nothing to do with Islam or todays Egypt. And to apcdtaiwan: China is really the cradle of civilization, not Egypt. Get educated!

  • Hey, with all due respect my friend, i have read alot in the bible even though i am a pure muslim and i cherish my religion, and i do agree with what you are saying and the fact that the song has nothing to do with todays Egypt, it is a reference from the bible and the same meaning was mentioned in the jewish religion.

but, i have to disagree with you when you say that Egypt is not the cradle of civilization, because it is, you need to review your historical information, im sorry for that.

  • Civilization is a descriptive term for a relatively complex agricultural and urban culture. The first civilization was the Sumerian, predating Egypt with 1000 years. But the cradle was not here! You can argue about what the cradle is, but the earliest invention that made it possible to cook food was a breakthrough that made the agricultivation of rice possibe, and ultimately the means to settle down for the nomads. Enter pottery made in China 11000 years ago.

  • @Woodenfrog62 its all relative.. what is the definition of "Cradle of Civilization" ? if you take WRITING as a pre-requisite then its definitely not China.. it would be wither Egypt or Babylon (Iraq)

  • all nations have their highs and lows...fact remains no country in the world can rival Egypt's history and culture. Even today for a country struggling with economic and social obstacles Egypt has produced its fair share of brilliant minds. One thing that remains unchanged is Egyptian pride!

  • Gudinnen av pianospillende sangerskebrunetter som gåsehudgyser oss med sin skjønnhet og smerte.

  • She's HOT!

  • Elvira is a great singer, and i think theese other coments is far out on the country side som place , she dont say any negative about egyps , so what are you murmering about . , enjoy here woice , listen to som of here other songs too

  • Egypt is the greatest country man kind have ever seen , We've to recognize that east or west , egypt was the cradel of civelization, we the chinese peoples loves you egypt

  • Comment removed

  • Doesnt seem likely minds will change. So perhaps we are all that...but one should never complain at any behavior of a rabid beast, they are that after all. What you do is put them down...so you need to put us all down...and you sure as hell are freaken us out to the point where we are thinking it. So as long as yer riding yer rover with yer hunting rifle yer ok. You step out & yer food.

U all have peace from Egypt, salam.

  • Koran on the other hand however which way you want to look at it...are the direct words spoken from the mouth of the prophet and maintained to this day...so i would excuse a few people getting pissed when you start saying stuff like...this line should go and this word would look better in the next sentence.

  • who's talking to who ya wlad el metnaka

  • youre an idiot, you dont know how to speak at all, you stupid cunt...

  • if you think muslims are looked down upon, then you will be overwhelmed with surprise when you see how much people in here in the UK look down on Asians such as yourself.

  • Shut up talking about politics here. Lets celebrate a great popsong instead.

  • Criticize all u want i don't mind, as long as it's objective and not just smears and insults...but i just speak for myself. I'm a history fan =D

  • Anyway I thought that she was Jewish and saying she was welcome back to Egypt was a compliment to a lovely song.

=D I mean thank god for Youtube...i was not so aware that right about everyone dislikes Egyptians for some reason or other lol.

PS. Hope that means a little of everyone likes us too just to balance the major shit out :P

  • "you are right islam is a big joke...thats what they also did to the jews in iraq. a jew cannot build his house higher than a muslim".

Most religions i think have something backward about them...i dont know why this got into religion. Its not Islam itself any more than Christianity, just people and most of those failed miserably.

"muslims are rich but still looked down...curse is a curse" ----> really? lol

  • Christianity is not like Islam in any way shape or form. Christianity has been a subject of study and critisism all out history, Christians replied the word with another. Islam managed to survive and all over history and even now a days just because it is immune to serious study and critisism in the same way christianity was. Every objective study about Islam is received with emotional outcries by muslims, I guess they now how weak their religion is that it can't stand critisism.

  • Lets see, the only Christianity I know are the belief In Jesus Christ the son of the Virgin and his coming and preaching of god to man...the dont kill your fellow man part, dont lie or steal. What you have is the faith invented by emperor constantine and the bible that was written with him presiding over, later the dominion of the Vatican state over which this polity was contested ie protestants to name but 1. So where exactly does god play in that...

  • love this song... :)

  • watever

  • What these fools are saying is the same as saying the vikings was africans, lol. The people of Egypt are the real egyptians, they just have a diffrent religion now, but they have the same blood as their ancestors running in their veins. Come on idiots get education!!

  • But she is so beautiful singing her song she is still welcome in egypt. Even tho none of the 80,000,000 egyptians are really egyptians according to some. I guess the next sentance should be...they are all arabs...so kill them all and give egypt to the real egyptians...let me guess some african american person who thinks ancient egyptians were black people lol SO SAD

  • Comment removed

  • Wow some people amaze me u would even deny an entire people their history. No the arabs did not kill the "real egyptians off" the arabs conquered egypt with 5000 men and most of the population became muslims since they were about fed up with the byzantine yoke. Just sad to find so many biggots, every man woman and child whos lived their entire lives in egypt and adopt egypt in their heart and mind are egyptian. Im not really surprised unfortunatly this life is full of people like you. Sad

  • "most of the population became muslims since they were about fed up with the byzantine yoke".... up till the 12th century majority of Egyptians were Coptic Christians, conversion to islam occured in a very slow process over hundreds of years mainly to escape the Dhimmi (second class citizen) status forced on none muslims.

  • Yo gutts.. let them hoes speak.. replying wont take u anywhere. how would they know about how were we invaded by arabs under the name of Islam. but at the end of the day Thank GOD i am a Muslim and that i am Egyptian. and i have no hatred against no one. unless he didnt harm me. and thank u for defending your country and religion. PEACE bro.

  • Cheers m8

    God Bless Egypt

  • "the arabs pretty much killed the real egyptians off"

    learn something about history

  • its ur mother who killed egyptians

  • ?!?!??!

  • Elvira grew up in a very Christian part of Norway, and her family is very religious too. The song is about daring to break free from the path that is already laid for you. Beautiful song!

  • Really nice voice. Very appealing.

  • And she's welcome back home to Eygpt anytime as far as im concerned lol ;) she just beautifull.

  • No way!

This queen belongs up here in the frozen north, so dream on dude:)

  • oh yeh about that "post 1950 book" ::cough:: i think its just the last volume so far...but i think u should check the library out back. Doubt u would be interested in reading tho..and there Brutus lies your downfall. lol

  • hmm "jihad" as an "innovation" was actually pre 1950...maybe around 840AD or some such. Its an amazing song though. Just straight to the heart, i love it; Im Egyptian too :P

  • fineste sang ever

  • حد يفهمنى بتقول ايه يا جدعان

  • Just LOVE this song... first heard it on tv show with Fredrik Skavlan, Först & sist (also shown here in Sweden), where she was a guest and performed this song..... so beautiful..! I had to download the song right away!! I'm just amazed the songs not more widely known.. it should be a worldwide hit! (but what's this talk about politics, culture & Egypt in so many responses, how can you read it like THAT?!?! are you mental?! she uses egypt as a metaphor for herself gaaah! just enjoy the song!!)

  • hey im Egyptian and im not bothered by the song its sooo obvious its about the exudos of Moses...

  • Comment removed

  • she look like Catherine Zeta-Jones.

  • I totally agree.

  • Well, Egypt might have been the cradle of civilization back in those days, but that was looong time before islam came around. If you want to read the shortest book there is, it is named "Important arabic innovations after 1950 apart from jihad!"

  • nice voice and nice song :3

  • hun har jo veldig fin stemme :)

  • So.. beautiful.. must.. marry.. her

  • Maybe we're related...Nikolaisen is my maiden name....haha. Awesome song and beautiful voice!

  • One of my all time favourite songs :-)

  • I have to admit that I like the song, as a muslim I belive the story told in the Koran about Moses leaving Egypt. I understand the metaphor but I like to think of Egypt as the destination, just because I am Egyptian :)

  • Cool song;)

  • Why are egyptians angry about this beautiful song?

  • The song compares finally getting out of a relationship with Moses leaving Egypt. A nice original metaphor and beautifully sung.

  • The metaphor also can relate to what says in the psalms: Saying that Egypt is a symbol of world etc. Just like what you said.

  • nice voice and music

  • ViVa Egypta

  • why are egyptian angry? what do you expect from ajww actress singing about egypt? its narmal that your enemy vailing you

  • funny! When someone dare insult your own country you make a big story about it, i don't know what is your religion, or what is your country, and it doesn't matter to me!

but i'm egyptian and i've been trying to find out for the last minutes why she is singing this song about Egypt, specially that she never lived there nor had any history with Egypt. she was christian and she left christianity because she thought it was useless! can't see how it's related to Egypt, so yes i am not very pleased!

  • @darkqueen12 I think she is refering to the tales in the Bible of the jews exodus from Egypt in terms with her own mistakes for being there in the first place. Though it's very loose and she's just saying that she never really fitted in and had to leave, but could never get out because she never had anyone to go with before "you" came. She felt trapped because of her own mistakes, that she does not regret (proud mistakes). I belive that she use Egypt to put a perspective to the songs theme.

  • great song love her warm voice and she looks amazing

  • Dude; - she is way out of your leauge!

  • this is not an egyptian song :(

  • how to pronounce 'nikolaisen' correctly? I've got a favorite actress from USA called"jen nikolaisen"^^

  • If you all for one moment forget about the lyrics and just listen to the song, than you have to admit that this song and elvira's voice are absolutely fabulous

  • if she sings about the departure of the Israelites from Egypt under Moses does everyone listens to this song realize this, i don't think so, does she know where's Egypt on the map lol.

  • say what u want to say egypt will stand for ever, best place in the world, safe, wonderful

and if all the world hate egypt and thats not real we will always love here

dont be jelous ppl who talk bad about egypt u will never be like them or reach thire civilization

  • perfect brother :)

  • go buddy!

i don't see why you ahve 6 thumbs down, while all you're doing is defending your country!! Egypt our land, and our home!

    LOVE YOU EGYPT!

  • U have magical sparkles all over you

you make Egypt proud and im sure u know she loves you too, our Egypt. =D

  • Egypt is a great country

  • hahaha, seriously...the only thing that makes Egyptians look stupid are the comments in here!

  • This is a Norwegian singer NOT Swedish. These are two different countries. Educate yourself please.

  • She comes from a very religious family, but Elvira herself rejected Christianity when she was 18.

She sings about the departure of the Israelites from Egypt under Moses. She uses this exodus as a metaphor for her own departure from the Christian faith.

  • i love egypt , i love egypt , i love egypt , i love egypt , i love egypt , i love egypt

  • How come nobody in Egypt seem to know what a metaphor is?

You probably think you're defending Egypt with your writing here, but the truth is you make Egyptians look like idiots.

  • excellent

  • haha so this is where all the terroirst's gets their rage out

  • She is singing about the Jewish exodus in the bible. Not about the current Egypt but the Jews who wandered out of Egypt, in the surprisingly obvious way. They just walked out. So before you get all crazy about it. Think a little before you act.

Not to mention there are several hints to what she is talking about. She talks about kings and queens and great disasters. None which has been in Egypt for several millenniums.

  • It's a friggin song , YOU FUCKING RETARDS

  • love ya till the end egyppppppppppppppppppt

  • Have you stupid dumb people ever heard of metaphores???? This song is NOT about Egypt - but about her getting away from her old life, living with fanatic religious people... And IF this song WAS about Egypt, you should have the pride to rise above it. My God.........

  • yes i agree.Egypt is safe place

  • "Walk like an egyptian" may be a nice song, but it doesn't say a nice word about Egypt. If your english was a little better, you would probably understand the meaning of both this song and "Walk like an egyptian" because right now you're wrong about both songs.

  • يا عم دى يهودية بنت متناكة و بتحكى خروج اليهود برة مصر فى الاغنية

  • i luv this song...and egypt is metaphor idiots!

  • music is v nice..accent soso..i like it. sweet song

  • The song is about realizing that it is no use trying to be someone that you're not, in order to fit in somewhere where you do not belong.

  • Take som metaphor lessons along with YOUR English lessons, you intellectual midget. Almighty Zoot, you actually believe someone would write and publish a song about how they hated a country?

  • she's reffering to the way the jews made their way out of Egypt, with moses and all..remember???

  • Really nice voice. Very appealing.

  • that is bull shit & she must come back to take her bra

  • Good for her

  • warm voice make me touch the sky and angel face make me high

  • what egypt song?what are you talking about

  • she's got an amazing woice, but her english and pronouncing isn't the best..

  • :) LOL! :)

    Have a nice daY:P

  • So like most singers with English as their first language , then. :-D

  • Awesome!

  • I don't like her voice or accent.

  • i loved this song from the first time i even heard it

  • She is the best news from Norway in a long, long time

  • She is great!

  • Great song.

Couldn't get enough a while ago.
