  • Happy Birthday my friend, you are always gentle on my mind :)

  • Can't find the words that have not already been spoken to tell how , what and why i feel about this man. Love him SOOOOO much!!!!!

  • You don't see this talent in the snot nosed kids on American Idol.;)

  • GOD

  • Dod never created a more beautiful man.

  • we cud go on pal start a music room...

  • WE.....should all meet on my channel ...we need to be close...elvis rocks

  • ELVIS..WAS....IT....PERFECTION

  • AMO ELVIS PRESLEY ,EM TODOS OS MEUS DIAS !! SAUDADE DE TI ELVIS !!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE FOREVER!! UMA FÃ NO BRASIL DESDE SEMPRE !! I LOVE YOU!!

  • You hear people whine...'oh the poor original artist, ie Glen Campell' when Elvis covers their song. Well it was the best thing that could ever happen to an artist, to have Elvis cover a song they wrote or sang. It drew attention to their recording to say the least! Furthermore it was the greatest honor...

"What is the highlight of my career? That's easy, Elvis recording one of my songs." -Bob Dylan

  • @TrueLight55

    well said my brother

  • i just love elvis!!

  • Awesome ! E

  • elvis totally owned this song , Glens' version is good but elvis made the song cool

  • Did Glen Campell Or Elvis Presley Come Out With This Song First

  • @robbieray1961 I belive it to be Glen, but I like Elvis's version ,thats my thought.

  • Elvis had a vocal sound that you just have to love to listen to

  • You''re always Gentle On My Mind dear Elvis....you're gone but you're also still here.

  • Elvis could sing any song and make it his own. Here is a perfect example of his range and talent for making a song stand on its own. When Glen Campbell recorded this song it was good but it didn't make me ache inside knowing I'd never get to meet Elvis or make love to him. I certainly would have been his type young, thin, tan California surfer girl (displaced from NYC). Ya I'd have been his type and he sure the hell was mine; and millions of others type too.

  • @Rollingstones1963 creepy comment lol

  • glen cambell....worked for ELVIS

  • K* I*N*G

  • KING

  • Pork-chop Sideburns made me click here....

  • Elvis simply adds his own style to this song - liked all his Memphis recordings

  • you put this together very cleverly bravo

  • great song

  • elvis has covered a lot of songs and has never once made the song worse. not always better than the original, but never worse.

  • @btoisawesome ......i do think he did with "suspicion" it was not as good as the original.

  • @btoisawesome also, almost every song that is a "glenn campbell" song that i have heard covered is better than the campbell version, and every song i've heard covered by glenn campbell is much less impressive than the original.....so, i may not be a glenn campbell fan..........but, i do still believe that elvis butchered "suspicion"

which doesn't have anything to do wth mr. campbell, but.....still

  • 0ooooooooo <3 <3 <3

  • Amazing, rarely seen pics! Great job - thanks for posting!! :)

  • And wasn't he a handsome son of a gun....jeez he was good lookin....Women went just banana's around him. especially at this time in late 60's and early 70's....the man was a God!!!!

  • The Best that Ever Lived...No One...EVER will Ever be Greater...EVER...!!!

  • Wow..Elvis takes Glenns song and Just Slams It..way the fuck outta da Park...!!!!

  • @MsPenelopeCruz , I like this a lot, but Glen Campbell's version is still the benchmark.

  • Great job, thanks.

  • elvis the greatist ! 4 ever....

  • Elvis was certainly a gift from God......

  • @kez51able you said it, no one will replace Elvis, Why? because no one can ever come close.

  • Damn this bass line is some sweet effin sauce.

  • elvis is ma boy, wish he wuz still round

  • Gorgeous man, gorgeous voice......beautiful voice, beautiful man......

  • The KING!!!!

  • I THINK GLEN CAMPBELL MUSIC LIVES IN US ALL.

  • How fortunate we r that Elvis always had a big band behind him!

  • Bass players didnt get too much attention in those days...but listen to that bass playing!

  • @Mikepservice

I agree!!! I'm a bassist and I love playing this melody. I know this bass line note for note.

  • love this man

  • Your number 1 with all the elvis music.........no 1 can touch him! looks, voice, entertainer, he had everything!

  • anything by Elvis is wonderful, thank you very much for posting !

  • Elvis voice in 1969 at it's very best

  • his version of this song is so calming. i used to fall asleep to this.

  • I prefer Dean Martin's version, but also Elvis sings it great!

  • Comment removed

  • His beauty was supernatural, out of this world! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!!

  • This brilliant song with bass guitar accompaniment will make everyone virtually come closer to ELVIS. Really, he is still "Gentle on my mind".

  • Elvis was the epitome of music, he was the best looking man in music if not the world and people like Jackson and brad pit are merely just a shadow of the king. he had a voice to match his face and he sung from the heart with charisma dripping from his soul. there will never be another elvis

  • Merci Jackiej61too ! Elvis c'est mon rêve...

  • wow, what a voice! wish he was still here...

  • I read a comment somewhere that Elvis ruined it for other artists because every goddamn song he sang he sang better than everyone else... and it's true.

  • @Aidooosh Your comment is so OFF. A successful cover almost always puts the spotlight on the original resulting in increased sales. In many cases its draws attention to a song that was virtually unknown or long forgotten. Very few (misguided) people have complained about having one of their songs covered. It is common knowledge that you benefit from it. Btw covering songs in the 50s was the NORM. For example Blues Suede Shoes was covered over 30 times as was Hound Dog. That's just how it worked.

  • @Aidooosh 99.9% true, especially with this song. On the odd .1% I prefered the original artist.

  • Brilliant song and video, just like the man himself

  • Brilliant song and video, just like the man himself x

  • John Hartford wrote this. For the banjo. And that's no joke.

  • Not only one of my favorites, I'm sort of addicted to it. I tend to turn to it when I feel sort of blah..taxed. It is truly "gentle on my mind". It is a bit of a reprieve from reality...that haunting/mystical feel..with just enough romance and passion to stir the fires within. I've heard some say that listening to EP has a healing affect on them. I guess this song does for me...hence my always coming back to it. Another w/t a similar affect (but different) Long Black Limousine, a masterpiece

  • In all seriousness...who writes songs like this?

This will always be one of my favorite Elvis songs because of how awesome these lyrics are. And it's a damn good song. That helps.

  • Elvis sang the best version of this song, why Im I not surprised?

  • Elvis was a Jew L'chaim tovah !!

  • Elvis is Unbeatable.

I love this music so much!!!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Hi Jackie, fantastic video's with great pictures, love this song, a couple have gone into the favourites, regards Steve

  • thx. jackie61,fantastic photo montage of the king, set to this beautiful song...fantastic!!!!!!!

  • my favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for sharing

  • underrrrrated! ELV1S <3

  • This is version is a little heavy on the syrup for my taste. I prefer the simple ole banjo-picked original by the author--John Hartford.

No offense to you legions of Elvis fans out there.

  • @oldcremona ....I couldn't said it better myself!! thank you

I mean I like Elvis but this song is just not him.

  • @jeffyjobluegrass You just don't understand, everything Elvis did was Elvis!!!

  • @oldcremona I disagree about syrupy..it's not done in a syrupy way. Elvis was a master artist and this was exactly the sound he wanted to create..making it unlike anything anyone has done or ever will do with the song. This is his signature..his rendition...and it's bloody amazing! Maybe you don't get that EP was a master artist..in fact the only man titled a master artist in 4 genres of music with induction into 4 music Halls of Fame and also recipient of the highest award in Blues Hall of fame

  • @TrueLight55 I haven't forgotten, my friend, that Elvis was a master artist. But it is possible that he didn't hit one out of the park every time he batted. I'm only suggesting that this tune, with lyrics like "keep my sleeping bag rolled up and stashed behind your couch" works better as a happy little banjo tune, ala the author, John Hartford. Have you heard his version?

Of course, it all boils down to opinion. I like apples, you like oranges. No harm there.

  • @oldcremona Agreed! yes it is a matter of taste. But I must respectfully say, his vocal ability...primarily mastery of different genres...has been defined as a phenomenon by scholars at Harvard& elsewhere for a reason. It has been said that he had "many voices"..this is unheard of, and requires vocal mastery we overlook because he makes it seem easy....but requires altering the sound and "feel" of the voice. He is truly THE master. And well I defend it b/c it is one of my favorite EP songs! ;)

  • @oldcremona I listen to both versions, Hartford's and El's, and I'm so torn between the two styles on which I like better. So I don't choose. Or maybe I do, because I listen to El's version a lot more. Both versions, unlike any other versions, puts me on those train tracks, miles and years away from that who's Gentle on my Mind.

  • THE KING

  • NONE BETTER , long live Elvis

  • i love this song he sounds great

  • man, i love this song!

  • MY FAVORITE SONG !!! :)

  • jackiej61too - Elvis is clearly all man. He will never be a woman. (sad squint) He's just so beautiful emotionally. What else can I say. Really.

  • The lyrics to this are 20th Century American poetry of the finest standard. It's a cinematic road trip across America and through the mind of the singer. For me, no one has ever matched Elvis' version. He imbues it with a mystical, yearning and wistful quality which is perfect for the song. His greatest gift was his ability to take a song and instinctively know how to inhabit it and make it his. When lyrics of this quality are matched with his genius, it's as good as American culture ever gets.

  • @alfagtvjan It is a wonderful version, however, Dean Martin's version does it for me, something about how he did it was simply unmatched for me.

  • Magical moment in the history at 0:17

  • jackiej61too - Beautiful lyrics and Elvis really does imbue an original country lovin' sound.

He's always, true, authentic, credible, incredible, a born natural lover of his songs and

singing, probably spending every day time with them. He's just real, credible and authentic, mentioning guitar, acoustic, electric, and some piano. It's a great summer song; diving off of a park pool diving board is hazard that I want to take - because it's gentle on my mind. Elvis, forever is too. Love, peace.

  • everything by Elvis is wonderfull

  • YES ! You´re absolutely right !

  • great song, and awesome pictures!

  • @TheUbiquitousPoppy : I'm so sorry but i i beg to differ with your statement. Should you really a huge fan of Elvis you will know that Elvis rock the whole world during his life time and even when he is death be it with his moves, his looks, his voice and which ever songs you wish him to sing even country songs. That is why he is call the KING.

In due respect to Glen, if u wish to compare Me with him, yes I would admit I'm not even close.

  • What a fucking VOICE!!!! heaven sent.....

  • What a great performer, he loved his fans,,,,,,

  • How grat you are,Elvis. Evenmore after your death. Elvis forever

  • How great you are, Elvis, even more after your death. This is my favourite song!!!

  • never heard this version Excellent

  • I must say J Hartford wrote the song, Glen Campbell sang it BUT Elvis execute it! One in a million voice. Irreplaceable

  • @iMFixer Noooooo way. Im a HUGE Elvis fan, but nobody did it better than Glen,

  • very good jakie thanks! elvis forever!

  • There is just nothing like the force of the style he puts into a song...master stylist...that's an understatement. Master vocalist... well that's too obvious. He just floors me...no he envelopes me

  • Great song, cool bass line

  • When did music stop being this good?

As people surrendered their souls to the illuminati.

    Google

    Laws of End Times Reductionism

    ......

You will get the pages of Matt Marriott,

who incidentally was the first to explain why the illuminati murdered Elvis (attention: not a joke).

  • Yeah Baby! I don't have to hear anybody else's version after this!! Nor do I want to!!! LOL

  • anybody who was or is anybody has done my song

  • When John Hartford wrote this song he had no idea what richs it held for him or Glen it make Glen a star gave John a Freedom to do as he wished John song Gentle on my mind was the most recorded song ever-John Hartford was Glens 1st Banjo player on the Goodtime show and left after the 1st seanson because he was as popular on the show as Glen

  • that you hotze?

  • Comment removed

  • This song was originally a hit for Glen Campbell. Glen Campbell became popular enough to get his own TV show and used to mock Elvis in a friendly but sarcastic way on his show, so in response Elvis recorded this song, which was one of Campbells' big hits at the time and of course as he has done with any song he has recorded Elvis made it his own.

  • Written by John Hartford. Elvis recorded it January 15, 1969 at American Sound Studios in Memphis. Ronnie Milsap played piano and Ed Kollis played harmonica on the recording. It is available on From
