What a fucking idiot. The entire "softroader" philosophy of cars is what should be criticised. He says that the other "SUVs" are built of car platforms, and so they're more efficient. You know what else is more efficient? A Mazda2. Or a Suzuki Swift. Or a Toyota Corolla. And they're about as capable offroad as a softroader like the Mazda Tribute or Rav4, so thats really the class of car the softroaders are competing against.

I am not sure how much experience of true cars Mr Joe has. Fault finding was the aim of this video. I am a owner/user of Grand Vitara 2009 and I think people do not know how great this vehicle is. Its behavior is like a high powered and great sedan with added advantage of being an extra ordinary offroader at this price. Its the best Value for Money, deal in the market fo sure! Take a test drive of a 3.2 V6. You'll believe me! If you have a fault finding attitude, you can manage it anywhere!
Nearly everything Joe Wiesenfelder complained about in this video (fuel economy, sun visor, visibility, drive system, center arm rests, seat back release, rear seat fold design, 4-wheel disk brakes, door locks, etc) were addressed in either the 2009 and 2010 models. These are not issues today.
Finally, I prefer the swing open rear door and a rear mounted spare tire is easier to get to when bogged down in mud or snow with a flat.

I have a Vitara DDis, in the UK. What a great car! Having been to the states last year I understand the concern over fuel prices. In the UK we have the Vitatra with a Renault 1.9 turbo diesel engine and this gives 40mpg on a run. While performance 0-60mph is not great the engine gives great torque and is ideal for towing. With speed cams all over the place why go for a fast SUV? I agree with others that the presenter is a lot biast.
Wow, this review was useless. This tool doesn't know a thing about this vehicle. The Grand Vitara is an amazing vehicle. heck, Suzuki makes incredible vehicles. I'm planning on buying the new 2009 with the 3.2L. Test drove one a few weeks ago, and it blew me away...Lots more power than the 2.7L and more efficient/environmentally friendly.
I have chevrolete tracker with suzuki engine & body. Suzuki brand of cars are great, I would recommend it to anybody because the engine is good & its a durable car. I never have a single problem with my chevrolete tracker 2001 model car.
This review is really stupid... small annoying features I have had this car for over a year and it's great... people like him shouldn't be doing these kind of reviews... the only thing that is helpful is that he compares the amount of miles per gallon that the car gives... if your looking to buy this car check out other reviews that tells you the good and bad stuff about a car...

I own a 2006 Grand Vitara. The guy I bought it from bought a 2007 Honda CR-V. Guess what, he is very, very unhappy with the choce he made. It is true the Vitara drinks a lot of gas (and also the gas tank is quite small) but otherwise it is a good piece of machinery. Don't like it? Well, don't fucking buy it!

Grand vitara, is really good, reliable car, when it comes to fuel economy, i believe that all SUV´s specially driving inside the city will consume too much fuel, but on open roads it´s pretty good. I drove 566km from Oslo to Stockholm with 45 litre bensin with my 99 Grand Vitara
Talk about the good things bro..Lots of SUV's out there have good and bad features too..Toyota FJ cruiser for instance....Its a nice SUV,good looks,masculine...nice sound system..but look the other hand...cheap looking dashboard its plastic and cheap looking..rear suicide doors..the front passenger had to open the front door and then the rear door..not isn't that a bit disturbing.
Worst review ever. Obviously he's trying to steer buyers towards a mommy wagon softroader like the RAV4 or CRV. Seen enough of THOSE spinning all four tires in the snow and not going anywhere. Have owned this model's predecessor, the Sidekick, and it NEVER got stuck once, whether it be snow, or the occasional off road jaunt....it's a real truck, albeit a small one, as opposed to the competition... and yes the one main drawback is slightly worse fuel economy.....damn nitpicker.....lol

AGREE not very good review, most of the small problems he mentioned in this review is NOT very annoying except the steering problem with full turn, but after get used to it man can adjust himself according to it.
I have a 2007 Grand Vitara X-Sport and I agree about all the annoyances he mentioned and possibly a few more like a rough ride on the road.
I agree there isn't any good reason to buy the Grand Vitara over say, a chevy Equinox, Hyundai Sante Fe or Honda CRV. This vehicle is nothing more then a pretty piece of crap and I'll be excited to get it payed off or get rid of it.

Hey Joe! while some of the things you say are true still you most certainly have to know and admit that the Suzuki Grand Vitara along with the Porsche Cayenne are the only off-road vehicles that survive the Transsyberia rally and make it to the top list without major issues. Make a review about the new 2009 GV and you'll see how this vehicle has improved in every aspect, especially over those "little things" you are so annoyed about.

His opinion doesn't mean squat. Suzuki builds incredibly well made products. I own an 88 Samurai, a 95 Sidekick, a 02 Grand Vitara, an 08 SX4 Crossover, and my wife and I are contemplating the 09 Grand Vit with the new 3.2L V6. I test drove an 08, and was impressed. Very few SUV's in this day retain an offroad prowess, and the GV bucks the trend. Don't dismiss Suzuki until you take one for a test drive.
You missed the second biggest reason some people buy this vehicle (we have an 06 L model) is that it is one of the few , if not only vehicle that can be towed by a motorhome on the flat , and not register miles. Also when I get there I can cruise the trails of Colorado , run the beach , hit the back roads, AND pull my boat out of the water on a 20 deg ramp in the rain.
I have had 3 Samauri's , an 02 Grand Vitara and now the 06 and NONE of them have seen a shop!
right on virus, this is a true 4wd. Most "4wd's" today are awd with a 50/50 lock, not low gears like the suzuki. And as far as 19mpg vs. 20 or even 22, your not saving that much for the extra 20-30pounds of torque your gaining.

I own a Grand Vitara and I love it. Those things he mentioned did not annoy me at all. I must have loved it too much to notice those things. The keyless entry was the feature I love the most because I don't have to go find my key in my overcrowded purse. I think It looks stylish too. Good on all kinds of terrain.

He purposely left out the great attributes of the Grand Vitara such as: The Grand Vitara goes places the Ford Escape, Honda CRV and Toyota RAV 4 could never drive. Pluc it's great on flat pavement with the new model. It has a solid reliability record and looks better than all the rest. The new Grand Vitara is also a Consumer Guide Best Buy beating Toyota & Honda.

Motorweek (USA), Truckin' (USA cable), AutoWorld (German produced for USA), and a whole bunch on a cable network devoted only to motor vehicles. Motorweek is like the video version of a weekly auto show. Top gear is a lot more entertaining, from the shows I've seen aired on USA cable networks here. Motorweek is more like Popular Mechanics in video; lots of pictures, not a lot of critical content.

i have a 2008 crv limited and i think that the crv is a Way better car then the suzuki grand. I just traded in my 2005 crv limited for the 2008 and i was with joy because theres no spare tire on the truck this year i fkin hit a pole because of the big tire on the beack u cant see NOTHINg because the tire IS a BlinD spot!!!!! im happy they didnt carry that its a safety hazard
My 2006 vitara has been great and gets about 18 mpg city. I had one problem which was the drivers seat (it shook on its rails) which the dealership fixed under warranty. I would recomend this vehicle over the ford escape which is built cheaply and looks cheap.
I too am disappointed with my GV Xsport. As the reviewer mentioned, the rear door swings open the " wrong " way 'cause the Japanese driive on the left side of the road. The tumbling seats are also a hinderance since they take up valuable cargo space and keep my large ( 100# ) labrador retriever from seeing me. She doesn't like that at all. The worst thing though is the gas mileage. MsK
I do own this car and I think that your comments are exagerated. Keyless entry is designed to work on one door at the time becouse of security. You can always unlock all doors. The car is fantastic to drive and I am getting 56 miles per galon at steady 60 mph. If I drive faster it goes down but it is still favorable to many smaller petrol cars I have driven. The Suzuki is very well built and comfortable. In my opinion your review is very buyest. This is a truly good car and I highly recomend it.

I am not sure how much experience of true cars Mr Joe has. Fault finding was the aim of this video. I am a owner/user of Grand Vitara 2009 and I think people do not know how great this vehicle is. Its behavior is like a high powered and great sedan with added advantage of being an extra ordinary offroader at this price. Its the best Value for Money, deal in the market fo sure! Take a test drive of a 3.2 V6. You'll believe me! If you have a fault finding attitude, you can manage it anywhere!

Nearly everything Joe Wiesenfelder complained about in this video (fuel economy, sun visor, visibility, drive system, center arm rests, seat back release, rear seat fold design, 4-wheel disk brakes, door locks, etc) were addressed in either the 2009 and 2010 models. These are not issues today.
Finally, I prefer the swing open rear door and a rear mounted spare tire is easier to get to when bogged down in mud or snow with a flat.

His cheif concern was the powertrain, which is all different in Europe. The suspension and packaging is all different here, too. In America, this is one of the lowest rated cars.

I have a Vitara DDis, in the UK. What a great car! Having been to the states last year I understand the concern over fuel prices. In the UK we have the Vitatra with a Renault 1.9 turbo diesel engine and this gives 40mpg on a run. While performance 0-60mph is not great the engine gives great torque and is ideal for towing. With speed cams all over the place why go for a fast SUV? I agree with others that the presenter is a lot biast.

Wow, this review was useless. This tool doesn't know a thing about this vehicle. The Grand Vitara is an amazing vehicle. heck, Suzuki makes incredible vehicles. I'm planning on buying the new 2009 with the 3.2L. Test drove one a few weeks ago, and it blew me away...Lots more power than the 2.7L and more efficient/environmentally friendly.

I own a 2006 Grand Vitara. The guy I bought it from bought a 2007 Honda CR-V. Guess what, he is very, very unhappy with the choce he made. It is true the Vitara drinks a lot of gas (and also the gas tank is quite small) but otherwise it is a good piece of machinery. Don't like it? Well, don't fucking buy it!

Incluso el menciona que el sistema 4wd se atora cuando le da vuelta completo al timon, pero el estupido no sabe que se supone que no debes tener el 4wd en lock cuando estas in cemento! Simplemente es un imbecil que no debiera revisar este tipo de carro.

Grand vitara, is really good, reliable car, when it comes to fuel economy, i believe that all SUV´s specially driving inside the city will consume too much fuel, but on open roads it´s pretty good. I drove 566km from Oslo to Stockholm with 45 litre bensin with my 99 Grand Vitara

Have owned this model's predecessor, the Sidekick, and it NEVER got stuck once, whether it be snow, or the occasional off road jaunt....it's a real truck, albeit a small one, as opposed to the competition... and yes the one main drawback is slightly worse fuel economy.....damn nitpicker.....lol

I have a 2007 Grand Vitara X-Sport and I agree about all the annoyances he mentioned and possibly a few more like a rough ride on the road.
I agree there isn't any good reason to buy the Grand Vitara over say, a chevy Equinox, Hyundai Sante Fe or Honda CRV. This vehicle is nothing more then a pretty piece of crap and I'll be excited to get it payed off or get rid of it.

Hey Joe! while some of the things you say are true still you most certainly have to know and admit that the Suzuki Grand Vitara along with the Porsche Cayenne are the only off-road vehicles that survive the Transsyberia rally and make it to the top list without major issues. Make a review about the new 2009 GV and you'll see how this vehicle has improved in every aspect, especially over those "little things" you are so annoyed about.

His opinion doesn't mean squat. Suzuki builds incredibly well made products. I own an 88 Samurai, a 95 Sidekick, a 02 Grand Vitara, an 08 SX4 Crossover, and my wife and I are contemplating the 09 Grand Vit with the new 3.2L V6. I test drove an 08, and was impressed. Very few SUV's in this day retain an offroad prowess, and the GV bucks the trend. Don't dismiss Suzuki until you take one for a test drive.

You missed the second biggest reason some people buy this vehicle (we have an 06 L model) is that it is one of the few , if not only vehicle that can be towed by a motorhome on the flat , and not register miles. Also when I get there I can cruise the trails of Colorado , run the beach , hit the back roads, AND pull my boat out of the water on a 20 deg ramp in the rain.
I have had 3 Samauri's , an 02 Grand Vitara and now the 06 and NONE of them have seen a shop!

right on virus, this is a true 4wd. Most "4wd's" today are awd with a 50/50 lock, not low gears like the suzuki. And as far as 19mpg vs. 20 or even 22, your not saving that much for the extra 20-30pounds of torque your gaining.

I own a Grand Vitara and I love it. Those things he mentioned did not annoy me at all. I must have loved it too much to notice those things. The keyless entry was the feature I love the most because I don't have to go find my key in my overcrowded purse. I think It looks stylish too. Good on all kinds of terrain.

He purposely left out the great attributes of the Grand Vitara such as: The Grand Vitara goes places the Ford Escape, Honda CRV and Toyota RAV 4 could never drive. Pluc it's great on flat pavement with the new model. It has a solid reliability record and looks better than all the rest. The new Grand Vitara is also a Consumer Guide Best Buy beating Toyota & Honda.

Motorweek (USA), Truckin' (USA cable), AutoWorld (German produced for USA), and a whole bunch on a cable network devoted only to motor vehicles. Motorweek is like the video version of a weekly auto show. Top gear is a lot more entertaining, from the shows I've seen aired on USA cable networks here. Motorweek is more like Popular Mechanics in video; lots of pictures, not a lot of critical content.

I just traded in my 2005 crv limited for the 2008 and i was with joy because theres no spare tire on the truck this year i fkin hit a pole because of the big tire on the beack u cant see NOTHINg because the tire IS a BlinD spot!!!!! im happy they didnt carry that its a safety hazard

My 2006 vitara has been great and gets about 18 mpg city. I had one problem which was the drivers seat (it shook on its rails) which the dealership fixed under warranty. I would recomend this vehicle over the ford escape which is built cheaply and looks cheap.

I too am disappointed with my GV Xsport. As the reviewer mentioned, the rear door swings open the " wrong " way 'cause the Japanese driive on the left side of the road. The tumbling seats are also a hinderance since they take up valuable cargo space and keep my large ( 100# ) labrador retriever from seeing me. She doesn't like that at all. The worst thing though is the gas mileage. MsK

I do own this car and I think that your comments are exagerated. Keyless entry is designed to work on one door at the time becouse of security. You can always unlock all doors. The car is fantastic to drive and I am getting 56 miles per galon at steady 60 mph. If I drive faster it goes down but it is still favorable to many smaller petrol cars I have driven. The Suzuki is very well built and comfortable. In my opinion your review is very buyest. This is a truly good car and I highly recomend it.

His job is to review these vehicles, and looking at this, I see the same problems he does and I agree that there are better choices. Don't be hatin' on this guy just because the vehicle falls short in some areas.
Suzukis have a long way since the Samurai, but they could've done better with this car.

What a shame!!! This guy is completely crazy or was bought by another maker to say those stupid things about the GV. There are things we don't like on it? Of course, every vehicle has some of them. But he didn't say one only good thing about the GV, and it has a lot. This is completely unacceptable. He should keep commenting about street vehicles (if he can) an let SUV/off-road analysis to more competent people.

This guy is a joker. He obviously doesn't get that you cant really compare it to a car based sissy mommy SUV like the rav4 and CRV. The only other truck on the market that it compares to is the jeep liberty. regarding the power and fuel economy, the 2009 Grand Vitara will have a 3.2L 230hp V6 as well as a 2.4L 166 hp I4 that will be up to date, more fuel efficient, and refined.

I was a Honda CRV 2000 driver for the last 2 years and a half. A month ago, i decide to change the CRV for a 2008 Grand Vitara. I am not agree with this guy. Its the best bang for the buck in its class. It as a unique REAL 4 modes 4x4 system, not a pseudo-real-time thing who engage 2 seconds too late when its slippery...and the fuel economy not worst as he say, about 10-15$ buck more than my old CRV by week. For more 4x4 capacity, more comfort and a 0% finance (Toyota Canada 4,8%!) i buy it!
