I saw Ray perform this song live last night @ Koka Booth Amphitheater in Raleigh, NC. I haven't seen an audience hushed in awe like that in many many years!  It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop...and the crickets & frogs in the background as he rasped out this amazing tune! So magical! Nothing like raw soul being belted out! Keep it REAL Ray!

As a young man i often worried I wouldnt not ever get a glance into the beauty and character of rock n roll and truly soulful music. According to Ray, he wrote the new album in about a week. Can you imagine just sitting down and writing deeply beautiful, insightful compelling lyrics like these simply at will?! And what incredible acumen! How many people even know what the Ziegfeld Girls or the Vaudeville Show are? Exactly, they're strangers, relics of a past life. Damn!! the lyrics aren't just deep, they have several levels of depth. Ray is truly a phenomenon!

@akj375 I saw an interview in which he mentioned they recorded the album in a week, but did not mention how long it took him to write all the songs. He also mentioned that the average CD is recorded in about six weeks, but they worked so well that things happened that fast.

wtf.. Ican't understand what key he is playing in? It looks like a G to C fingering for the whole song... but that means his guitar must be tuned way the hell of of standard E???

@skipstah70 haha - yeah, i just learned the song and am tuned to standard. Have to capo at 3 to get the same key. He's tuned very strangely.

@skipstah70 yes, besides playing in standard E tuning he will sometimes tune his guitars a whole step down (DGCFAD), and then even down again to Drop C too.

@thewaiting08 Well, it's definitely tuned downed to D by the looks of it, but I don't think he's gone to drop C on the low E string. He has a weird grip and is playing a low F note with his thumb somehow? Looks like all the guitar tabs are wrong too, this prog is C to F, not G to C. Thanks for the tip waiting!
