2 questions: what audio interface do you use? Also: you monitor your synths through the line inputs of the interface and control the volume on the synths itself (because I only see a mackie bigknob)?

Asking because my tracks always end up sounding dull in comparison with other artists. Would like to know how to make thinks bright.

yeah u got to cut low end coz if u dont u can see in my previous old tracks i produced. id like to produce brights sounds as well all i know is a good vst plugins can offer bright sounds =) for reverb use artacousticreverb like bolier says in part 2 of this vid.
