Holy crap I remember this like it was yesterday... that was a fun ride if I do say so my self, except for almost loosing the .50, anchor, buckling a few beams and taking on an ass load of water...
Yo Gig and Gallego. Its Mack! STG's rock! I was injured from this Goddamn storm. Slid across the messdecks on a huge roll. Only thing to break my slide and damn near my ribs, was a chair. That day sucked! Didn't puke though.
Loneshark, this is Gig, dude great vid! We had a trip off the vacaps that nearly destroyed sonar 2. Me and this other STG had to try and shore up that space while he puked into a trashcan.
I was on the ship during this storm... it was crazy... we had people falling and sliding from once side of the mess decks to the other. it was scary as shit but was fun as hell!
i remember your dumd ass, fuck no i was browsing and stummbled on it then i searched for more to see who would be proud of that place and found gallego
Dont remember those names......Im a plankowner so remember people that prob came in 98 and were off in 01 or 02. What was the combo for sonar control???? 4689

Destroyer Life
The boys out in the trenches have got a lot to say
Of the hardships and the sorrows that come a soldier's way,
But we destroyer sailors would've liked their company
On a couple of trips in our lousy ships when we put out to sea.
My son was on this destroyer, USS Carney during the storm! One of his shipmates recorded this. We were there to welcome them home when they docked in Mayport Naval Base. He showed me this video on the ship after he gave us a tour. We weren't allowed to go below to see the damage this storm had done to it. They had a LOT of repairs to do! I thank God they made it home!
Good video. Looks like Sep '98 to me. You tincan sailors had (have)it rougth. Click on my name above and help us pay Tribute to our Fallen Shipmates. Dexter Goad. USN Ret.

And when we're back in dry dock, we stagger like we're drunk
And wonder how we stood it, and why she never sunk.
You lay out your civilian clothes, but just before you switch
Your sea bag's on your shoulder and you sign up for one more hitch
hogtwat 4 years ago
We have heard of muddy dugouts and shell holes filled with slime,
Of cootie hunts and marches which fill a soldier's time,
But set beside destroyer life, it all seems dull and pale,
When the clinometer hops, the barometer drops, and we line up on the rail.
hogtwat 4 years ago
Chorus:
OH, IT'S ROLL AND TOSS AND POUND AND PITCH
AND CREAK AND GROAN YOU SON OF A BITCH,
OH, BOY, IT'S A HELL OF A LIFE ON OUR DESTROYER.
The damned tin can destroyer was never meant for sea,
You couldn't keep it steady in a lousy cup of tea,
We carry guns, torpedoes and ash cans in a bunch,
But the only time we hit our mark is when we shoot our lunch.
