I think it's a stye. It's like a little irritation on your eyelid from dirt or whatever. I used to get them really bad all the time when I was younger. (I could be wrong but that's what it looks like.)

I am a gift person too, and I remember a particular instance when I gave a guy friend of mine a simple Christmas gift (I think it was diff. kinds of candy or something) and in the moment, he felt awkward (he shouldn't) and said that he had my gift, just not with him.
