Based on what? Bruce Lee was a very knowledgeable Martial Artist but much of his combat philosophy was based on theory and limited combat experience. Cung Le is a professional fighter who has been training MMA for several years. He has much more combat experience than Bruce Lee ever did. Fighting high level opponents is much different from street fights, demonstrations and choreographed movie fights. Plus Cung Le is much bigger.

And Bruce Lee has people who were present at the fight and agree with his account. It's their word against Wong and his supporters. I don't believe Wong because he claims the fight was 20-25 mins long which is rare for an NHB fight between TMA practitioners. Unless there is video footage there is no end to the debate. The outcome is hearsay.

@MysticNinjaJay The horror of all of this is that it was done at the expense of a good hearted Kung Fu Master, one who was more than willing to restore his reputation about the fight by inviting the general public to watch a rematch for free (this was issued in the Chinese Pacific Weekly shortly after so-called details of the fight were publicized). For whatever reason, Bruce Lee opted not to meet Sifu Wong after the publishing of the invite for a second public match. END OF DEBATE.

He provides nothing that makes him more credible than Linda, Bruce or the eye witnesses who give their own account. Someone is clearly lying. But who? I believe Bruce Lee who says he beat Wong in 3 minutes and damaged his hands pounding the back of his head but was very winded from the fight.

Bruce Lee, his wife and several of their entourage gave a different account of the fight. So what we can be certain of is that someone is LYING! I am not a fool. I am a critical thinker. All I can do is look at the evidence and form an opinion. Wong's account doesn't seem credible for the reasons I listed.

Lee at the very least claims he learned a lesson from the fight and devoted alot of time and energy towards perfecting his fighting style. Maybe he got his ass kicked. Or maybe he did the ass kicking but found elements of his performance to be unacceptable. His account is very believable.

So what we have is many different account of what happened from many different people. Thank goodness in todays day and age Martial Artists have the sense to put fights on video so that there is no dispute over what happened. People lie. That is reality. @theangelrules007 I don't believe Wong Jack Man because he claims an unusual length for the fight (20-25 minutes) claims that he decided not to use his kicks for fear that he would kill Bruce (suggesting and inflated ego and unrealistic perception of ability) and he was the one demanded that the results remain private. The newspaper challenge strikes me as an attempt to redeem himself from a humiliating defeat. Again it was unrecorded so we don't truly know what happened.

Since open MMA events were not typically sanctioned by state athletic commisions prior to 2001, that would mean that you would have had to have been at least 40-45 years old when you competed, and at least 50-55 years old now!! Cung VS Bruce at the same weight, the same era (1970's), BRUCE WILL KNOCK THE FUCKING CRAP OUT OF CUNG!!! Bruce is a very dedicated student of combat. He had the best performance enhancing diet back in those days. At the same weight class (65kg) Bruce would be a lot stronger, faster with better technique, hands down.

Bruce wouldn't last in MMA because of the rules of the sport. The second it went to ground game, BJJ guys would be all over him. It's just not a fair comparison, he didn't grow up in that fighting environment.
If you want to talk about "real life" fighting, I still don't know a guy who can take a full blown kick to the nuts or fingers in the eyes. It's a sport, not "pure" martial arts.

I've seen guys with black belts in judo in MMA, they always end up getting rocked.

Based on what? Bruce Lee was a very knowledgeable Martial Artist but much of his combat philosophy was based on theory and limited combat experience. Cung Le is a professional fighter who has been training MMA for several years. He has much more combat experience than Bruce Lee ever did. Fighting high level opponents is much different from street fights, demonstrations and choreographed movie fights. Plus Cung Le is much bigger.

Bruce never competed in tournaments only movies cung lee is bigger and stronger I have followed Bruce's career since 1971 i have read and seen just about ever thing on the man and his copy cats. I do not think he could defeat cung lee there is a difference from sparing in a dojo to getting it on in the octagon.The same goes for chuck Norris bob wall and all the rest,mma fighters are cross trained in various forms of combat yes Bruce also was.but he was 5-6 140 lbs and that was soaking wet.
