People who use drugs are looking for something that sobriety can't provide, so logically most of them will try pot before crystal meth or heroin because it is more readily available. These are people with problems that sometimes are solved with appropriate medication. Cannabis for a lot of people is appropriate, so why shouldn't they have it?

Perhaps the focus concerning marijuana should be on the fact that the FDA erroneously has marijuana catogorized as a drug when every herbal authority in the world has it catogorized as an herb, which the FDA has no jurisdiction. It has been statistically shown the Pot is NOT a gateway drug. The method by which pot is attained (black market) is where the gateway effect occurs.
If you remove Pot from the black market by legalization you remove the gateway effect.
