Chicago pulled off an operatic coup: eclipsed most of The Met telecasts and proved how potent is Barber's magnificent opera. The entire cast and production is nothing short of sensational and I have it beautifully preserved first on a Beta VCR recording and later transferred to a DVD format. One of my treasured operatic experiences. Thank you Chicago, Malfitano et. al.

ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA is one of the great operas of the 20th Century. The Met premiere was a disaster and soured Barber on his opera; he was persuaded to re-write a shorter chamber version, which is vastly inferior. How great to see this clip of a great singing actress in this great scene; MANY THANKS FOR POSTING IT!
