When I was 10 years old my older sister and I played this song in a piano recital. I played and sang back up to her. We won an award for it and ever since then have been a lover of this particular song although the music from this era was always a staple in my home something I am forever grateful to my father for. I’m only 26 but even for me it brings back fond memories of my childhood. So pure and nice I wish I could have lived back then!!!!

His voice is so soft, light and tender, kind of puts me in a dreamy mood just listening to it. I enjoy some other versions too. Too bad, there really aren't standards like this where a number of people will record the same song.

I haven't actually, but I watched a biography of him on the A&E channel. I love how he made a major comeback in the '70's starting with "My Melody Of Love", even after his longtime label, Epic had dropped him after 10 years of many hits thinking his hitmaking days were over. He showed them!
I also love how he or his record label sent around a beautiful girl with red roses to all the dj's to promote his first hit, "Roses are Red". Brilliant promotion, that would have worked with me too (although I would have played the record anyway because it's great).

This is why old people (like me) prefer old music. It brings back memories
of happy times.
I have found some good new songs on Youtube though. I like You Raise
Me Up, The Rose, Sitting on the Front Porch Swing, Isle of Hope. I guess
some young people might consider these old too.
