Thank you for this clear explanation, it is very helpful. One thing I didn't hear you talk about was swing. My MPD has different swing settings for sampling and playing the pads but I'm not sure what they do. Does it just add more randomness to quantization?

Hate to break the news, but PH Record has a groove option as well that does everything explained here... REASON 6 is coming out, stiff comp for Ableton, although I still will rewire.

I downloaded my copy of ableton and can't find the groove, shuffle, or swing feature in my instruments or library or anything, i also have a lot of dead and missing sound files, is there anyway I can replenish what i'm missing ?

@theambition ya i have to agree, just buy it. i had the same problem, i downloaded ableton8 suite and all my effects and instruments were out of whack and not showing up and whatnot. i have a feeling they did this on purpose so you buy it. i got mine for 80bucks! suite to
