I got the music from the YouTube free music database after Led Zeppelin forced us to take down the original track (Immigrant Song) but now it seems like I can't find out who the artist/title is on this track but I think it goes along well.
im making one out of garbage bags (a ton of them) then i'm going to light a fire under it with sticks and stuff and hopefully it will fly. lol does anyone actually think my plan is going to work?
You can make it a solar balloon, use black garbage bags and fly it in full sun - it will heat itself and fly although it won't get as hot as a flame-heated balloon. Check my videos, I've done tons of solar balloons
god forbid, we use an audio track where zero dollars was being made/used. I imagine Robert plant scouring the internet paranoid about infringement. I'll talk to AB and have him replace the song with one that we have a copyright/permission to use. -sincerely Brigade films management.
Search youtube for 'solar balloon', many examples of plastic hot air balloons, both smaller & larger. In the USA you can find 'Painter's Plastic' that's really thin, it's less work than taping together garbage bags as you build larger envelopes, though I can't find it in black :-(.
nope never found it... thought where it landed the property owner was notified, and he didnt care much that I didn't find it...we saw it go down into some trees.
No, actually its three parachutes, first I had to cover the draft holes in the chutes. Then I expanded the top of the second chute by splitting the gores from top to middle, creating a sort of star pattern from the top...not sure if I am explaining myself clearly. I then put in 5 triangular shaped pieces to create the Venturi type or tear drop type shape. Feel free to message me if you've any further questions.
Actually its made with 3 parachutes, they were the same size, and essentially I cut the parachute along 5 different gores, from top to about 2/3s the way to the edge or bottom. I then inserted gores that i manually pulled the threads from on the 3rd parachute. I inserted the gore upside down in the slit I cut from top to bottom. Attempt at your own risk! I am not a professional, nor do I recommend using such a device for flight. Have fun!
Nope I'm using 64' G12 Cargo Parachutes, the only issues is sealing the fabric because it is engineered to be more air permeable to accommodate the energy of a larger payload.
Actually, this evening I've finally developed a sealer that I believe will work well, I'm VERY excited about moving forward on the 64' project its been a long time going now, trying to develop a sealant that will work properly, resist heat, and is also flexible. But I think I've got it, just tonight I tried a combination that I believe will work!
The balloon is 22' in diameter and therefore about 8300 cubic feet. Still unrecovered... I'll find it when the snow melts. A 64' Balloon with a volume of about 140,000 cubic feet is in the works. That little balloon cost about 150$ to make. The 64' will be around 500$. Stay tuned, more balloon adventures to come!

you know hes jealous that I made a hot air balloon out of parachutes and he didn't get a ride, no doubt...

I like the idea & attitude well enough, I'd watch it silent! Good to have it back, even if the old music fit better.

IS this made with two parachutes? Were they the same size (diameter) or how did you get the right balloon shape for the bottom portion? Thanks!

Excellent storytelling, I'm sure the 64' one will have a tougher harness(!) Have you found a source for coated ripstop or lightweight nomex?
