The "Chicken Molnar" bit is actually a clue from an episode of "Take a Good Look" that aired in the spring of 1960. The secret guest was Alonzo Fields, who had been the chief butler at the Whitehouse for 23 years.
Pure genius. Movie of his life starring Jeff Goldblum. Based on what he went through with wife # 1, you've got to wonder how he was able to do all this.
Here's my Gordon Ramsay version of Chicken Molnar. 1 Full Chicken, Caper, Olive, Kobas, Put Chicken in bowl with Carrots, Parsley, Garlic, Make sauce with Scotch, Bourbon, Rye, Bor. cook 20 minutes toss chicken drink sauce. Done. Intresting.
This may have been the inspiration for Jim Varney's "Cooking With Wine" routine.
I saw Varney do his cooking routine, years before his fame with the "Ernest" movies and commercials. Varney's "chef" was a wino, who would do recipes. He would read letters from viewers. The punchline of the skit was when he read a letter asking why his recipes never had wine as an ingredient.
Varney's answer was, "I do not cook with wine...I cook under the influence of wine!"
The best ingredients includes..Scotch, Bourbon, Rye,& Good Hungarian Bor. along with the Roast Chicken makes a good Chicken Molnar. "Take out Chicken, Drink Sauce"
He looks like the inspiration for the Swedish Muppet Show cook! What a versatile comedian. He was a major source of inspiration for Terry Gilliam. Unlike the Pythons, he got the Hungarian right, as far as I can judge, because he was of Hungarian descent! Chicken is indeed 'csirke', turkey is 'pulyka', garlic is 'fokhagyma', wine is 'bor' (without the comic(?) diaeresis). I also found the 'kolbász' intriguing. They are known as 'kielbasa' in Poland and the USA, and as 'kovbasa' in Ukraine.
Hát ez K.rva jó!

he's not a genius. television just isn't inventive enough so we're still stuck with the boring, unfunny format he invented.

@richiepiep - It may have something to do with Gilliam thinking that Kovacs was of Czech descent, as I seem to recall him saying in an interview.
