Hi I'm 16 and i only hit the ball about 250 yards, i really want to know what the secret is but i just cant understand how to do the technique or any drills on how to do it, please can you help me
@trevurclev1 you hit it far enough. Im 18 and scratch and hit it 250-270 on average. When I was 16 i was preoccupied with the same thing - more power - and ended up messing up my swing and my game horribly for around a year. Trust me, you don't need more power - even if you want to be on tour - you hit it long for 16. The power will come as you get older (even just swinging the club a lot really helps) - take it from someone who's been down that road. Gaining weight helps too, fat or muscle.
MIKE AUSTIN IS GREAT TEACHES IN THE WORLD OF GOLF AND DAN SHAUGER LEARN FROM THE BEST TEACHES AUSTIN . I HAD SEVERAL LESSON FROM DAN AND NOW I HIT MY GOLF BALL STRAIGHT DOWN LINE NOW AND HE HELP WITH MY PUTTNG TO , DAN HAS 2 BOOK AND 27 DVD THANK TO DAN I PLAY A BETTER GAME OF GOLF NOW GREAT TEACHES DAN IS
@Nightwing690 Mike wanted the club parallel to the target line. If a person was coming over the top, he'd rather have the student cross the line than have the club pointed out to left field for a right hander.
from the looks of it, he takes the club back like i do. i just can't transfer the power or swing as fast as he did. 515 with persimmon, steel-shafted drivers makes him a legend in his own right. and it sounds like you're able to utilize his tips well!
@MAlatinboy Mike stepped to his left and threw the club underhanded from the top.
A great drill is to see if you can hit the ball with only your trailing arm and let the hand release and hit it. Amazing, effortless power if done correctly.
@solo55flight - hey, you're very welcome. If you haven't checked it out, you should visit my blog at the web address under my info...lots of discussion on the Mike Austin swing going on all the time. Ciao
I am now a fan of Mike Austin and will dedicate my practice only to his methods, keep with it for at least 2 years and see where it goes.
Thanks to people like you who post these Mike Austin vids!
