  • This reminds me of the old days with my Grandpa <3 Im 21, but was rasied by them and grew up on this music

  • Sing it, Tammy. THE Queen.

  • Yes the greatest female country singer that ever was or will be, this song is probaly her most universal song, if there was alien life forms out in space they would also appreciate her & this song. Simply the Best.

  • Yes, ......

  • good!

  • MY MOMS GONE SINCE I WAS JUST 16 YET WE USED TO LISTEN TO HER ALL THE TIME SHE AND LORETTA LYNN PATSY CLINE ARE SOME OF THE GREATEST SINGERS OF ALL TIME

  • R.I.P Worlds greatest beauti youre voice will be standing in our hard .

I am 30 years old but damn this is timeles

  • Damn i missed those days. what they call country music now just doesnt have the same feeling that is use to. I wish i could go back to those days.

  • Tammy sings to about break the toughest heart! I caught her act five times. When her big touring bus emblazoned with "Tammy Wynette, Queen of Country Music" on the sides would pull into town on its annual stop here in Vancouver, Canada, it was a thrill.

She truly was Queen of Country Music. I love her and miss her.

  • What a wonderful song! There's something really beautiful in the male-female chemistry that we are losing now thanks to feminism. This is one of three or four country songs I really love and would never want to be without. She has an electrifying voice. Rest in Peace.

  • Never realized how much Faith Hill resembles Tammy Wynette.

  • You don't even have to be into country music to love this...

  • a beuatiful woman with a beuatiful voice

  • effortless, special talent.........

  • She is one of the greatest female vocalists ever.

  • Just an Angel. I really miss her.

  • I love oldies, they seem to have so much more soul. But that is just my view, everyone is entitled to his opinion :) Either way: Thank you for this wonderful upload!

  • Super...

  • Just call it like it is. She was a great singer for all of us to listen too and watch. Forget about any personal faults she might have had, everbody has some. To bad we don't have anybody anywhere near her quality singing and to watch today.

  • I love these old videos, the old greats like Tammy seemed more like real people just doing what they do best instead of the perfectly polished entertainment packages we see today. She doesn't need to have a perfectly choreographed dance routine , I just want to hear her beautiful voice!

  • @BKellyS your post packs a lot of sense. She's got the talent and that voice! Too many folks are just too slick these days and they don't even have a fraction of the sheer talent that Tammy had... Anyway, I agree with you.

  • amazing

  • I think Guiness Book of World records has her as the #1 selling female recording artist of all time.

  • i think she may be one of the most beautiful girls at this age ever

  • W o n d e r f u l !!

  • Real talent, no gimmicks

  • God. Absolutely stunning voice and appearance God she was gorgeous.

  • This is the year I married ,this song was one of the hits. 50 years later, still stand beside my man!

  • @MsTilly2010 on this song a girl asked me to dance in 75 , and that girl is now 36 my woman

  • Eggzelent!

  • Correction, Charlie Carter on Telecaster

  • Not sure how many know this but the guy in the background, playing strum guitar recorded the Bonanza theme and others of similar fame.

  • THE GOOD STUFF!

  • wow this looks like it was directed by david lynch. amazing performance as always from Tammye. Her poise, her voice, her dignity and her unrivaled command of melody make her a genius of american music. Will always love you Tammye.

  • @doomcontrol Wow, I love the Lynch reference. As good as it gets. I had never seen this performance until tonight and I think it ranks up there with the greatest, ever. Back in 2003, CMT ran a show on the 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music and this one ranked #1 ("He Stopped Loving Her Today" was #2).

  • Man - this must have been when she was just getting started!! What a youngster. :-)

  • She was / is the greatest singer ever ! ! !

  • George Jones. Bonus.

  • @rek1225 I thought that was the old Possum at the beginning there. Both he and Tammy were really young there. That clip must have been filmed in the mid '60s.

  • They were both so much in love and happy, they are glowing. Were they married here?

  • No one can sing like Tammy.

  • i love this song but it makes me think so hard

  • Who was the backing band?

  • @bossninja17 it was the jones boys

  • Gawg I love her hair!

  • The original and the beautiful when Tammy was both. Thank you

  • Beautiful country music, beautiful vocal...I like it...

    Thank you very much...ireneuszsosnowski :)

  • This is as good as it gets!

  • First Lady of country music. Immortal!

  • It's amazing how those high notes just roll out with no effort...

  • I know I'm going to sound young and ignorant by saying this, but if this was in the early 60's, would it make sense that it was in such good quality and in color on top of it.

  • One of the towering hits of Country & Western music, T.W. delivers "Stand By Your Man" as only she could.

  • My family loves country music from this era. This is real souls music....... Greetings from the people in Bluefields Nicaragua................

  • both talented and beautiful ....

    a true beauty!

    i love her ....

  • This is in Five Easy Pieces and The Crying Game.

  • That's when country was song by country people, The Queen of country.

  • I don't usually listen to country, but I make an exeption for tammy. So beautiful; so original.

    R.I.P, Love. ♥

  • the fact is, this is one helluva soul song delivered in country style. she puts so much emotion and heart into it. anyone that doesn't realize that this is a masterpiece that cuts across any genre

probably has their nose so far up in the air that the lack of oxygen has crippled their brain....................

  • god dont make em like this anymore..

  • Great Song!

    Awesome !

Tammy is my favorite woman country singer!!

    The Best!!

  • she rips it up at 02:03

  • her voice is clear and not pitchy, she is beautiful and as far as I am concerned she can't be beat by any other female singer.

  • Man . . She really looks good there . . No wonder George was depressed after she left him . . . nice low-key accompaniment . .

  • Probably one of the top country songs of all time.

  • god bless your comment i couldnt say it better myself stephen5028

  • What a powerful song and delivery. The chorus and refrain are a hit and hold combination not easily matched. Sure, it's easy to say that the message is strictly Hicksville - but in a perfect world it's profoundly beautiful and enduring.

For simple, all american music, it's contrast between tenderness and gut grabbing

punch is all but incomparable. Kudos, Tammy and band - I'm a more complete person for having this song rattling around in my head.

  • Awesome. Time 0:29, it's just like she is feeling it. Classic song, classic posting.

  • I know that this song was look at askance at the time, being popular when the women's movement started, but, hell, her voice leaves me breathless with its power and emotional committment.

  • Amazing! Tammy was such a beautiful and talented singer...taken far too soon. We could use her now to mentor the contemporary "country" acts these days...

  • The Jones Boys backing the beautiful voice of Tammy Wynette! Great!!

  • I used to sing this song at the karaoke. My gf didn't. We're both single :)). And the moral is?

  • God bless the late, great Miss Tammy Wynette!! The best original country star the US have ever produced!

  • Love it. Thanks!!
