  • @sullenboy1o3o twat

  • This is the first song my husband ever sang to me. He and I were not dating and I was seeing someone else at the time. We were just friends at the time. When he first sang it to me I cried and still now listening to it I cry. It has great sentimental value to me. Thanks Roy for a wonderful song that touches my heart, even after 12 years of marriage.

  • thumbs up if Alan Wake brought you here

  • THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANY MORE !!!!!!!

  • This is the greatest Pop ballad ever recorded.

  • Anyone ever seen the thriller movie "In Dreams" with Robert Downey Jr. and Annette Benning? Very underrated!

  • one of the most wonderful songs ever breathed by man; has to be from God Himself

  • You idiot BooBoo 1005x. The lyric is,

A candy-colored clown they call the sandman

Tiptoes to my room every night

Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper

"Go to sleep. Everything is all right."

You don't know about music. You think Rap is music. Asked your father and Grandpa about music..

  • Angry Grandpa brought me here.

  • @dunterd watch blue velvet

  • I heard Angry Grandpa singing this, I had to look it up.

  • That candy coloured girl, she carries thin mints,

Tiptoes to my door every day

And just a bit of shortbread, and a whisper,

Go to sleep, I am just a Girl Guide.

  • AMO ESTA CANCION!! payasito de colores :3

  • RIP Roy & Barbara Orbison.

  • Love Orbison since I was a kid, and I also loved the way David Lynch incorporated this song so brilliantly into the movie Blue Velvet. There are few songs more memorable in film than this one. And what a glorious voice Roy had!

  • With out a doubt the most talented vocalist ever. I don't know if the younger generations can really acknowledge what they are hearing. This was done before all the electronic alterations. This man could hit notes that are almost impossible .What a gift. Thank you Roy. R.I.P.

  • @Dar0922 I wonder what was considered "indie" back in Orbinson's day. I wonder if teens thought this was crap just as we think our pop artists are crap.

  • Alan wake + Roy Orbison = Epic!

  • The video has a scenes from that wierd Dennis Hopper flick which is very cool. Roy O ! I love you you.

  • @jimmykjazz This video was made specifically for the movie of Dennis Hopper "Blue Velvet".....the shots of the movie were all put around Roy....Roy said in his 1987 interview how weird it was when he first saw the movie and then respected it for what they did.

  • Anyone who tries to cover this song deserves a 'love letter'.

  • Alan Wake :)

  • There will never be anyone as good as Roy!

    Bieber sucks the big one.

  • There was and always will be only one Roy Orbison. Maybe the greatest male voice ever in rock and roll! What a shame he had to leave us too soon.

  • Momey Momey!!!!

  • As good as an actor Dennis Hopper is I think this is necessary...

    "BOB-OMB"

    "MONKEY"

  • Awesome, you FUCKING FUCKER

  • I'll send you a love letter. Straight from my heart FUCKER!!!

  • They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Where or where did the voice and the talent go? Now we have Lady GaGa, Brtitney Spears and Justin Beiber. The recording industry has gone straight to the toilet.

  • @Dar0922 You couldn't be more right. The fact of the matter is that these days they want all the fame and the money and don't care much about music (if its sells who cares!). Artists like Roy Orbison lived and breathed music for every second of their lives. fame was just a by product of their passion. Such passion is rare if not almost extint these days.

  • @Dar0922 nope its just changed

if the people from your generation wernt suchs prudes it wouldnt had let up too that

  • @akemoguy BS. Ironically, you dont even realise you're not even talking about music anymore. Music is neither obscene or prude. Vulgar gimmicks like Lady Gaga's are *always* obscene.

And you know, she doesnt even do it because sex sells. Its appeal is actually how agressive it is in its vapidness. "hurr durr, well *I* happen to like it, Deal With It!" Kinda like your comment.

Also, lots of truly great music from at least 40 years ago was far from prudish, of course you'd just rather ignore that.

  • @wishcraft4u2 ok music guru inform me

kids dont want to listen to this shit kids are the pop music biggest market

the shit roy elvis all those guys sang about kids dont want to listen too it

times have changed wether u wanna acept it or rant and rave in youtube commets is your choice

  • @akemoguy Inform you of what? Seems you forgot to ask a question to mask you're only trying to be smug. What are you even trying to say? Do you know??

Anyways. Kids loved Elvis and Roy when their music actually came out. Kids like to feel that they are part of it, like they could meet and even date their idols. Also, don't underestimate how many kids still listen to their music today.

The difference is if you actually play out their tunes on a piano it doesnt sound like a 3 yr old wrote it.

  • @wishcraft4u2 yes i agree with they DID love roy and elvis

but thats when when rock n roll controled the charts

now music u can dance and take drugs too

    computer generated garbage

now im done arguing with u,

  • @akemoguy You sure sound like you took drugs too...

  • @wishcraft4u2 wow, the last time i heard someone try to get the last word, i was in the 5th grade. now im in the 6th

  • @wishcraft4u2 keep trollin asshole keep trollin

  • @wallowinthehallows Yes, what an outrageous opinion I'm expressing, I must be trolling. I mean, why else would someone even debate something on a youtube page, am I right, guys??

Seriously though, there seems no end to the depth of some people's cynicism.

  • @wishcraft4u2 obiously u just wont shut up danm u suck at trolling

  • @akemoguy Contrary to what you probably believe, the entire world isnt in on this whole "every debate on the internet must become a troll" game. Some people actually believe there is merit in discussing things genuinely. Or at least expressing their genuine opinion. Yes, *even* people who actually know what "trolling" is. Has this occurred to you?

But by all means, go on pointing out what a fool I am for still responding.

  • @wishcraft4u2 hey, isnt in dreams an amazing song

all ive been tryin to say to u is that u should have more respect for more modern artist

like Lady GaGa, Brtitney Spears and Justin Beiber, all im sayin

why must u not shut the fuck up now

  • @akemoguy I think I made myself clear on why I have so little respect for them. But the gist of it is that I don't believe they are just being cheap to be cheap. There is something more agressive and malicious to pop music like that. It's as if it's pandering to people's desire to be spiteful. You know like when some people will just play loud music and think its cool because it really just annoys parents or neighbours.

Actually, try reading Horkheimer and Adorno on popular culture.

  • @wishcraft4u2 that was the first semi intelligent statement ive heard u make bravo bravo

um so your one these people that think they make music to iratate people of course they

" the parents hate but the kids love it" thats the same from every generation bro,

  • @wishcraft4u2 lt was the same

when elvis first got started the religous radicals that thought he was sublimalinally seducing

there daughters with his dancing, or another exsample when heavy metal came in too play

alot parents honestly beleived it told there kids to commit suicide.

punk rock preachs that "piss off society" idea " try reading Horkheimer and Adorno on popular culture " LMFAO dood really

  • @akemoguy what was the same as what, in what sense and what does it have to do with what I just said? Really, is there some kind of coherent point to that post? If so I'd love to hear about it.

  • @wishcraft4u2 Just to put a different opinion in this conversation. You absolutely don't have to respect those acts. (the spears and the biebers) they will not be remembered in 40 years. They are pop acts and pop acts come and go and are relevant only to their respective generation and only the casual music listener at that. They are for people who don't have time to scour for and appreciate deeper music. Pop music aside, the indie music scene has never been bigger.

  • @Dar0922 It's not surprising. The crappy pop acts are just a safe bet in this economy. There's still plenty of quality acts out of the mainstream, though. You're also right that they don't make them like this anymore. These old pop lullabys are out of style. In terms of modern guitar band music (if you're interested) check out grizzly bear. watch?v=CxinSS5KJNg

  • @bilbomarks .mmm 'pop lullaby' is an interesting description but,we are all entitled blah blah blah. Do grizzly bear ever play in the woods?

  • @Dar0922 There are still talented musicians around; just look a little harder! Please don't give up just because a legend like this isn't around any longer. The popular music of nowadays is a passing fad, all we have to do is support the not-so pop singers and legends will become timeless.

  • @DrakeKesda Thank you so much for saying that! I try to tell people that all the time. If you really love music you will always keep searching because one of the best things about music is the discovery of a new sound or song to love.

  • @DrakeKesda i I don't care who's around, their is only one Roy Orbison no need to look further.
