THANK YOU! so sick of explaining that I don't mow lawns for a living. With this video, we are now going to have an influx of students applying at schools, since no one actually majors in landscape architecture really knowing what it is. again, THANK YOU!
Will an Enigneering degree at the undergraduate level qualify a person to earn a Masters in Landscape Architecture? Or should one pursue something else?
@fareezharis If you're serious and focused about it, you will do well in school. Staying focused makes a big difference with your classmates-to-be who would rather spend time playing games on the comp or just slacking off. The course facilitators and your personal tutor will give you everything they got, so you won't need a mentor as long as you don't lose track of your goal (graduating with a sense of fulfillment) :)
@fareezharis I'm an AutoCAD drafter. Drafted at a landscape architecture firm, Atelier Dreiseitl Asia, for 14 months; now I've been at SAA Architects for the past 1.5 months. Looking to further my studies this year :)
well made video... Im in my third semester in college and have taken some architecture courses.. i have been searching for other careers to study and thanks to you guys i have just decided what i want to do in life.
Great video! I'm actually going to use it at a high school career fair on Tuesday. I will credit you of course. If you don't mind me asking, what program did you use to make this video?
@mmland100 What should i do i am 16 in tenth grade i want to be a landscape architect. But so much stress of sports and stuff. I want to focus seriously in this career. Can you tell me how i can go to a good collage so i can have a better chance of becomeing a landscape architect?
I don't believe in the "Compartmentalization" of Science. But if LA it's not a science where will stand the Territory and its Spatial Planning (land use planning, urban planning, regional planning, transport planning, environmental planning, economic planning and/or community planning?? That's LA too or at least LA is involved. Just a thought :)
This vid is excellent ´cause it looks soo simple :) but it´s not so easy to become a LA or Garden architect. Starting from learning plant-names in latin (which is not everyone able to learn), through maintenance of greenery and ending with creating a project with all technical documentation and financial matters, considering all the styles, materials and conditions during the process of creating... loads of things ! Anyway, good luck to everyone who studies this great "science"
@mYeAGz55 I put it in quotes because LA in my opinion is not the proper science as we know the science itself. Of course we need plenty of skills, cooperating with specialists from other different fields etc., and LA/GA is more about fantasy, ability of imagination, thinking about proper, suitable and real options when shaping or modification a place. All in all, we can say it is a science, but we´re not doing any research or theory. We do an art.
@ItchyNo86 Amen my friend! Sometimes I wonder if I choose the right field of study. Sometimes eveything is so way complicated... or maybe is just me... Don't know. :))
@Flecha57 I was thinking the same, but once when I caught myself thinking about the right combination of colours and structures of flowers in a movie instead of watching story of a movie, I realised I´m totally in :D
Anyway, I can remember a sentence of my friend who has much more experiences than I have and it says probably everything I need to do this kind of work. "Keep motivated".
Oh my gosh this is amazing! I think this video might have changed my life. I thought landscape architects were gardeners, but now i know they are some of the most important, visionary people in the world. They design the whole world!
So how do I become a landscape architect? Please tell me how to become one now.
This is such an awesome video i posted it on my facebook fan page "Landscape Architects" , it really is fantastic and embodies so many great things about our profession, well done.
Thank you for the beautiful video!
And yes, this is one of the best professions that can be!

@Padwandaman Look for a university that offers a bachelor in landscape and garden architecture.
You can also do a master afterwards
