  • So, 3 down seasons under a lousy experiment, and Michigan is nothing? It wasn't very long ago that it was #1 vs #2 in The Game. Michigan was racking up top 10 finishes annually when Va Tech was roller coastering through the ACC. Beating Florida in bowl games while Georgia Tech was still figuring out which guy is third in the triple option.

  • Wen they separate these two, it's gonna SUCK! I dont want them to play twice, it dont seem right for such a classic battle, & 2 separate em.....bad idea. Despite them playin at the end of the regular season anyway, I dont want them to play, then a week later them play each other again

  • Their lone title post-1950 I mean. Michigan has consistently won, though, except for the last two seasons...they'll be back eventually, and I hope it happens sooner than later. I want to see some more classic battles between OSU and Michigan like we have seen in the past...two strong programs duking it out for the Big Ten.

  • Too bad Michigan won most of their titles before some of the prominent programs of today rose up. Yeah, it was easy to beat OSU back in 1910 when OSU still played (and even lost to) schools like Wooster, Oberlin, and Ohio Wesleyan. So, while you can't argue the numbers, you can argue the meaningfulness of those numbers. Really since 1950, Michigan has never been the best program at any one time, except for maybe 1997, their one lone national title (which of course was shared with Nebraska)

  • Anthony is now playing in the new arena fl gooood luck!!!!

  • Top tier college football programs (no particular order): Virginia Tech, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, USC, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Boise State, West Virginia, Tennessee.

All of these teams are MUCH better than Michigan every year for the past few years and will be better for the foreseeable future. There's plenty of names I left off the list that could be on there: Iowa, Utah, etc. But Michigan is NOWHERE close.

  • @sunil481 georgia tech? Come on now, you're an idiot if you think that. Not to mention West Virginia can't even win the big east which is god awful and Miami is in the same type of slump that Michigan is in right now. Michigan will return to greatness when Bitch Rod is fired and Harbough comes back home.Hail to the motherfucking victors! Georgia Tech......unfuckingbelievable

  • @sunil481 Whatever.

  • @MooreWolverinesFan: So ancient history gives you something to talk about, but the fans of teams that are much better than Michigan *now* can't talk? I'm a Buckeye fan and frankly I miss the days when Michigan was a top-tier program. I think those days will return. But right now there are 15-20 teams that are better than Michigan on a consistent basis so your "best program in football history" is pretty arbitrary.

  • @sunil481 I respect the Ohio State team, but I have no respect for their fans such as yourself.

  • 35-10 psu at michigan....

    enough said.

  • you cant even see the hit that well

  • calm down u freak, we have still won 9 of the last 11 ahahahaha psu sucks

  • WE OWN...... MICHIGAN!!!! Eat that shit you loser Wolverine cocksuckers!!

  • to tell the truth dude, im a Michigan fan but i respect Penn State. I respect your coach. but, no offense, but you have owned us only the last two years and we beat you like 9 years in a row. im just saying. anyway, that is all hope Penn State beats Ohio State again.

  • Eat what was just shown in the video? What point are you trying to prove? Did you even watch the thing?

  • Lame. Its easy to lay someone out when he's in a throwing motion and totally exposed. Show a real man's hit when someone's got the ball in the open field. Oh wait, Michigan doesn't have any of those.

  • @sunil481 When your team has 23 undefeated seasons and the best program in college football history, then you can talk. Too bad you wouldn't be a real man and take on Alan Branch yourself.

  • what a hit!!! awesom to see him(morelli) on his back!!

  • WHAT A CATCH!!!

  • Pretty sure Morelli was done for the day after this play.

  • Funny fact though... As bad as Morelli was/ as much heat as he took. He was 2-0 in Bowl Games....

  • yea morelli wasent that great. im not hatin on himn or saying anyones better than him. im a ND fan. yes we suck, thank you. but i really thought he was a better QB. he was really unconsistant., then again so was brady quinn. but o well, sucks he got knocked the fuck out lol

  • Nah.... he was pretty bad. He couldn't read coverages, would lock on one player and wouldn't be able to rotate to a different receiver even if the locked receiver was covered. Couldn't deal with pressure. One of the worst QB's to have in the Red zone. He could drop the bomb, I'll give him that. Million dollar arm, 50 cent brain :P

  • I am a PSU fan, and I completely agree. Morelli could make a fantastic, and I mean perfect throw anywhere on the field, but then he'd completley mess up an easy wide open reciever.

  • check out my football vids

  • way late hit

  • It isnt much of a rivalry if Penn St doesnt win some of the time.

  • Isn't that what Ohio State fans are saying by now about Michigan? It's an unofficial rivalry, that's been intensified in the past few years. But Ohio State is the true rival of Penn State in the Rust Belt Rivalry.

BTW, Penn State is 4-10 against Michigan, not bad, not great, but it'll improve soon.

  • and yea. pretty sure it doesnt matter this year.. we going to destroy michigan.. just like the wisconsin game.. and playin at the frikin beaver stadium.. goina lay them out.. WE ARE! (7-0)!

  • im a huge PSU fan.. and that hit didnt bother me at all.. anthony marelli fuckin sucked. im sorry..

  • yeah i remember that hit michigan knocked out both their first and second string qbs they had the best front seven in college football

  • For awhile it reminded me of the 2004 game at Wisconsin where Mills was knocked out and M-Rob had to be taken away in an ambulance. But then Paul Cianciolo proved to be a lot more effective than Chris Ganter was and we actually had a decent shot at winning.

  • He wasn't destroyed you fucking scUM fan. That should've been roughing the passer. But Michigan has to cheat to beat Penn State. Can't wait to see that "streak" end this year.

    WE ARE!

  • morelli suked

  • ummm catch?

  • lol, he wasnt destroyed.

    no one touched him.

    he knocked himself out, basically.

  • OK? how does he get destroyed? youd otn even show that. and he gets the ball of and completes it for a first down

  • He was unconscious, that's how he got destroyed. There doesn't seem to be a clip of the other angle on youtube but yea, it was frickin nasty.

  • Never mind, check out Michigan defensive highlights v. Penn State, 14 OCT 06, it's about 2 min in, and yea it's in the related vids.

  • this never gets old

  • Funny how people forget of how awesome that pass and catch was.

  • yeah......because morelli got destroyed. i wonder why that is.....

  • was that the end of morellis day! hahah fucking homo

  • Yea they all remember what is possible my favorite photo in all of sports. Alan Branch sauntering off with Morelli just laying there. If I were a Penn State fan I would have preferred an incompletion and Morelli still in the game.

  • i wouldnt have morelli was garbage

  • It's a good thing you're not a Penn State fan....and an even better thing you're not a coach.

  • It's a good thing you have no idea what you're talking about. Morelli sucked, he was still better than any other QB on the team.

  • Ummmm...ever hear of Darryl Clark? You know...starting QB for the 2008 Big-11 Champions The Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions. He was picking splinters out of his ass while Paterno wasted 2006-07 playing Moronelli. I think I hear your Momma callin' you to supper. get along a li'l doggie!

  • Ummmmmmm...yea, Morelli was better than him. Only a bandwagon fan would be stupid enough to pursue and argument like that.

  • You have to be either retarded, related to Morelli, or are Morelli's gay boyfriend. Which one is it? You have the distinct honor of being the only person to try and claim Morelli is a better QB than Clark.

  • shouldve showed the other angle that shows him getting slammed

  • And should have showed Morelli on the sideline in fairy-tail land afterwards.

  • And despite this, Penn State kept it close by only giving up one more touchdown and then scoring one of their own in the 4th quarter.

  • even tho half of michigans team was hurt!

  • Michigan's biggest loss was Mario Manningham, and I'll admit that played a hand in the outcome of the game. However, I don't think it'd have been too much different with or without Manningham. The biggest factor in the game was the rowdy home crowd. In Ann Arbor, it might have been a blowout.

  • Destroyed? I wish. He would have done Penn State a favor. Losing Anthony Morelli is addition by subtraction as far as Penn State is concerned.

  • Amen...I wish this hit would have ended his career. He is and was a colossal failure that better get used to saying "Do you want fries with that?"

  • you'd really wish that on one of your players? c'mon...if there was a better QB on that sideline, then why wasn't he playing?

  • good call! i think its funny the backup came in and got destroyed as well!

  • three words: Joseph Vincent Paterno

  • when i say this im not in any way disagreeing that morrelli was a huge let down but, he could have been one of the most talented qbs while he was playing the problem being he had no coaching at all as he leaves college he hasnt progressed much talent wise since he entered it and its not his fault the coaching was just poor

  • he was like the second qb of his class and he turned out a total douche bag

  • exactly, it was him and henne one two that year out of high school, and many nfl scouts look at morelli and say he has great talent and potential but just never coached

  • LATE HIT!!!!

  • lol think how fast he was running, you cant just stop yourself.

  • that was a clearly illegal hit. i was there. end of story...lloyd carr is a douche bag lol have fun in ann arbor getting beat by us! go penn state!

  • clean hit lol you haven't beaten michigan in over ten years lol

  • haha nice win dumb ass.

  • lol im a michigan state fan, how u gonna beat michigan when u lose to msu?

    GO STATE!

  • That is a useless video. You can't see anything. Go Rutgers!

  • clean hit, no malicious intent...just so happened he got hurt. Get over it.

  • Man, I didn't think it was possible for anyone to whine more than Urban Meyer, but you PSWho fans sure give it your all. LOL, beat us sometime first. Then maybe someone will take you seriously.

  • We did.

Then Lloyd Carr had to bitch to the refs to get two seconds on the clock.

  • Oh, you mean like Paterno had done earlier in the same game you're talking about?

If I were you, I'd instead be whining about the inability of your team to get the job done.

  • Oh, and Avant's foot was out of bounds also on that final drive.

Oh, and by the way, at least we can beat the 1-AA teams that we schedule.

  • No, it wasn't. You Penn State fans are ridiculous.

As far as 1-AA teams, awesome. Believe me, I've been humbled. However, what does that say of your team and coach? Paterno has been outcoached by Carr every year for over a decade. I'll shut my mouth if Paterno beats UM this year -- until then, PSWho is just the team that can't beat the team that lost to App State. Sucks, doesn't it?

  • It wasn't? Show me.

Oh great, now you resort to the old chain of losses to defend yourself. Pathetic.

Using that logic, Michigan lost to USC who lost to UCLA who lost to Cal who lost to Tennessee who lost to...you know.

  • "Show you"? Ha, go watch the video -- the burden of proof is on you since we both know what the final score was.

And "chain of losses"? Huh? You're really grasping at straws here. It's a simple fact that Paterno hasn't beaten UM in over a decade, and in the event that PSU wins this year, I'll shut my mouth. But as we both can see from last weekend, anything can happen on any given Saturday -- just like two years ago when UM spoiled PSU's perfect season despite a horrible opening record.

  • DKE7OuKWIJs @ 5:52

    You be the judge.

  • I've seen the video hundreds of times, and I've explained it as many -- in the NCAA rulebook it explicitly states that the receiver's entire foot does not need to be down for him to legally be down. Avant clearly lands on the tip of his foot inbounds before his heel comes down on the sideline.

This rule is the exact same reason that TD catches in the endzone that appear iffy (for the receiver appearing to land close to the line) are more likely to be held as legal than not.

  • your whole foot has to be out to be out.

  • I looked at the rulebook and this is what I found:

"If one foot first lands inbounds and the receiver has possession

control of the ball, it is a catch or interception even though subsequent

step or fall takes the receiver out of bounds."

  • The rulebook says nothing about the toe-heel thing, thus I'm still obligated to believe that they're talking about a whole foot, and there's no distinction between a heel and a toe when it comes to the catch, so no, it's not explicitly stated in the rulebook (like the other guy said). The only way I can see it as a catch is if the official thought he pulled a Sean Elliott (if they thought his heel didn't touch the ground).

  • helmet to helmet, i was right beside it in the student section. if morelli was good it's a flag.

  • Too bad Michigan can't beat us without any kind of cheapness.

  • Too bad it wasn't helmet to helmet. Nice try PS who

  • The replay doesnt show anything clearly, You cant see the hit at all!

  • clean hit. that rule covers spearing, which obviously the hit was not.

    waaah.

  • According to the NCAA Football 2005 Rules and Interpretations -- "No player shall use his helmet (including the face mask) to butt or ram an opponent or attempt to punish him. There shall be no spearing. No player shall strike a runner with the crown or the top of his helmet in an attempt to punish him."

    Illegal hit. End of story.

  • Helmet-to-helmet isn't even a college football penalty. Nor is a helmet-to-chest wrap up...nice try though.

  • Any other team and this would've been a personal foul for helmet-to-helmet. But, no, not God's gift to football, Me-Cheat-Again.

  • Actually, you're wrong -- the replay showed it was clearly a legal hit.

    WHO IS -- PENN STATE

    WHO IS -- PENN STATE

    Everyone's favorite whiners/losers.

  • i was wacthing this on tv and I was lauighing so hard because his head bounces of the ground...M GO BLUE

  • Who was covering the wideout? Trent?

  • would'a been nice to have seen a replay of the hit since you can barely see it at the right-hand side of the screen. devastating blow!...
