  • All these Mugabe apologists always use the now tired excuse of ''standing up to the west'',revolution bullshit,House negroe, fighting against the colonialist blah blah.

You morons see such please in killing anyone who disagrees with you or anyone who has a free mind to decide for themselves.

You only want people to be like parrots.

    Well you are wrong motherfuckers.

Your man Mugabe is going to Burn in Hell together with his heroe Hitler.

  • Haru Mutasa reminds me in many ways of house house niggers and I say so advisedly.

If you're afraid of black nationalism, you're afraid of revolution. And if you love revolution, you love black nationalism. To understand this, you have to go back to what the young brother here referred to as the house Negro and the field Negro

    back during slavery.

  • Looks like SOMEONE can't handle the truth.

"Heard it all before" , but your lies ain't working now.

  • Invasion by a foreign power is an absolute last resort to be used when the situation is (or is becoming) so bad that invasion will make it better rather than worse.

  • Certainly Mugabe should be removed from power, peacefully if possible, forcibly if not, but that can only be done by Zimbabweans. Perhaps with foreign help, eg: as Cuban soldiers fought against South Africa & UNITA in Angola; or International Brigades in Spain.

Do you seriously trust the US to institute real Democracy, rather than set up another equally murderous puppet government? Previous US proteges include Suharto, Pinochet, Hussein, Pahlavi, Rios Mont etc.

  • The example of Rwanda in 1994 just confirms how indifferent western governments are to Africans. The US actually pressured the UN to reduce troop numbers & refused to use the word 'genocide' which would have legally obligated them to act.

Which demonstrates how hollow their talk of "humanitarian intervention" is.

  • It wasn't just "western governments" that were indifferent to the Rwandan genocide. Every other nation stood by as well. But the US intervened in Somalia when it wasn't in our nat'l interest and saved hundreds of thousands of lives from starvation. The world is not black and white. America is not black and white. It's very easy to point to Nicaragua, Chile, etc. And I can't think of much Bush has got right. But your rhetoric is simplistic- do you support homosexuals were treated under Castro?

  • The reasons for US intervention in Somalia are ambigous. PERHAPS, partly a genuine attempt to help, partly a Pentagon budget drill, partly to establish the US's right to intervene anywhere in the world.

They saved lives by providing food. Then they got involved in the civil war & started killing Somalis. More recently they have bombed Somalia & encouraged Ethiopia to invade & overthrow the government, renewing Somalia's endless war.

  • Of course things are not black & white. I never said they were. The US is not all good or bad & Cuba is far from perfect.

The persecution of gays is unjustifiable, even IF (as Fidel Castro claims) it has been exagerated & was never a government policy. It was also ended over 40 years ago, although isolated incidents & perhaps even institutional homophobia no doubt continue. As they do here.

  • The US is trying to garner support for stricter and more targeted sanctions through the UN. Sanctions which will go after members of the regime. For all your apparent hatred of the US, America is the country currently leading the way. The African Union has done nothing. And they will continue to do nothing. Do I trust the US to institue Democracy? I don't trust ANY country to institute democracy in Zimbabwe. Ultimately I agree with you- IT CAN ONLY BE DONE BY ZIMBABWEANS.

  • I do not hate the US. I hate the US (&UK) government & the things it has done & continues to do.

    What kind of sanctions?

Hopefully not like the ones they enforced on Iraq, which (according to the UN's own figures) caused over a million deaths.

If there is a way of improving things, then that should be obviously be done. However, it is better to do nothing than to make the situation worse, as US interventions have repeatedly & predictably done.

  • this monster needs removing from leadership-not been sworn in for another 5 years.its a disgrace

  • Armed intervention, sanctions, if your brain is only cpable of comprehending the two concepts you are not worth being called civilized. There are endless examples of democratic transitions from dictators, its called economic development. When the Zimbabwe people are wealthy they will transition into democracy naturally, South Korea and Taiwan are two prime examples.

How many have to die in starvation before the barbaric cultures of the west could understand this?

  • Any sympathy I had for Zimbabwe ended when they started gang raping white babies and burning them alive.

  • The US economy is a disaster, as is the British 1, & that's despite the advantages of an international economic system that robs the '3rd world'for the good of the west.

The last thing Africa needs is more imperialism.

  • Zimbabwe needs to straighten out its economy. Hire Dutch or British to come back and get the country in order. With a more stable economy there Mugabe could pillage whatever he wanted and the people wouldn't suffer so much. Graft and greed can only survive in a reasonable economy. That's how we do it in the U.S.

  • When has the US ever saved anyone? The US government does not invade other countries out of altruistic motives. They are not interested in democracy or human rights.

Zimbabwe's problems can be solved only by the people of Zimbabwe. We should support them in that struggle (if anyone has any suggestions...) but not by invading their country & making the situation infinitely worse.

  • If our 'leaders' really wanted to help Africans, they could end the looting of Africa that has been going on for the past 400years & start trying to atone for these crimes.

  • I agree with part of what you said but what can the US do? Arm the opposition? Would you support that? Sanctions have had no effect except to increase the misery for the average Zimbabwean. I'm afraid force is the only thing Mugabe will understand. It's a terrible situation. Ultimately, I think it's up to Zimbabweans to stand up and say enough to the thugs ruling their country. Maybe we should arm the opposition. I hate to think violence is the answer though.

  • The US & British governments should mind their own business. After what they've done to Afghanistan & Iraq (to name just the most recent examples) they are in no position to talk about democracy or human rights. All they will achieve is to undermine MDC, by allowing Mugabe to cast them as traitors, & himself as an anti-imperialist.

  • The people should be in solidarity with the Zimbabweans, but first we need to deal with our own undemocratic & murderous governments.

    1 PEOPLE, 1 STRUGGLE!

  • "1 PEOPLE, 1 STRUGGLE!"

Nice slogan. Really catchy. Unfortunately the people of Zimbabwe can't survive on words.

  • No offense but you're basically saying fuck the people of Zimbabwe- do nothing for them. Well don't bitch about the British or US doing nothing if that is what you want them to do.

  • asdffd - can you point to in place in the world were Imperialist Powers , like the British and Americans , ever brought , Democracy, Freedom ,Human Rights ETC . Britian and American Impearalisim does not give two Dams about such things . It only supports Democracy when it suits its selfish needs like, easy access to a country wealth , or better still to bring such wealth under their controll. Britian and America prop up someone of the most evil regimes the world, for instance, Sudi Aribia.

  • What was our national interest in Bosnia? What was to be gained there? Nothing. Same goes for the intervention in Somalia.

I agree that the United States usually pays lip service to human rights and nothing more but your whining about the US is not addressing the problem at hand. What should be done about Zimbabwe? The African Union has done nothing. Sanctions have only made the average Zimbabwean's life more difficult. Should the world sit back and do nothing- like they did in Rwanda?

  • That is not what I'm saying at all.

If you have any suggestions as to how WE can support the people of Zimbabwe or anywhere else (?), then tell me what they are.

What I AM saying is that a military intervention by the US, France, UK can only make matters worse. Has anyone in Zimbabwe actually asked for that?

The US/UK governments don't give a shit about Zimbabweans, Burmese or Tibetans any more than they do about Afghanis or Iraqis.

  • What about arming elements of the MDC? Would you be opposed to that if they wanted the Americans to supply them with guns? Or do you think Mugabe and his thugs should continue to be the only ones with arms- terrorizing the people?

  • I'm sure if the MDC moves to armed resistance they will take whatever weapons they can get.

Of course I support the right of any people to overthrow an illegitimate government (not that they need my approval).

Again, if you have any suggestions as to how we could actively support that struggle, please tell me.

  • Well, there really is nothing we can do. Try to put pressure on our respective governments- not that I think that will do much good. I'm afraid things in Zimbabwe are going to get far worse before they get better. And I'm not sure armed conflict is the solution. I don't know how much more the people of Zimbabwe can endure.

  • If peaceful methods don't work, what other option will they have? Just surrender & let things continue as they are?

Also, we should not allow our own governments to exploit Zimbabwe, Sudan or Burma to distract attention from the mess they have created & are perpetuating in Afghanistan & Iraq.

I doubt we can do much to help the people of other countries until we take some control over our own governments. We need an organised, active movement for radical change.

  • I'll agree with you there. The citizens of the UK and even moreso the citizens of the US are largely powerless. It is the corporations and their pals in gov't who hold almost all of the power- in large part sham democracies no doubt.

  • It is you who are the monster. Anyone who supports Mugabe and his reign of terror- SHAME ON YOU!

  • Kudos to the reporter for telling it like it is from inside the country - she could be putting her life on the line.

  • not just 6 months this place was called africa's bread basket but now look what has happened

  • Why dont the USA saves Zimbabwe?

    No oil in Zimbabwe?

  • exactly sovet...the politics of interest. These atrocities are nothing new

  • They will bring "democracy" to Iraq because Iraq is rich in oil.

  • could be!

  • Zimbabwe needs urgent aid and support to end this tyranny. However, the United States would suffer worse international credibility for its third on going war and its army is stretched too far.

  • Send the FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION in to put a bullet between his eyes... That'll take care of this problem... :o)

  • The USA is busy saving everyone elses asses...That's why. WHY don't other countries get up off their asses and do something?? Well, it's because EVERYONE EXPECTS the USA to do it all...

Maybe the AFRICAN PEOPLE should unite and do something themselves?? Hey!! WHAT AN IDEA!

  • Mugabe is the child of the USA, just as Hussein was. Kissinger was the personal architect of the Mugabe regime. Do your research.

  • I disagree with that statemant, the USA and Britain are run by children of the devil. Zimbabweans are being sent to their deaths time after time and all the media talks about is how bad Mugabe is. Yes he is evil i agree. But is it not the USA thats been sending HIV infected condoms to Zimbabwe? Is it not M16 and Kisenger who odered the assasinations of some Zimbabwean freedom fighters. The only people who were not likley to give in to the Freemaisons ways of thinking. Robert is evil.

  • The powerbrokers of the USA like "leaders" like Mugabe. This is a little Shah or a little Pinochet. Again, again, this is the work of the Kissinger think tanks.

  • mugabe ,a psychopath in full flight

  • A psychopath with an army, the worst kind. He needs to be locked up.

  • mugabe has long life.Enemy of Zimbabwen.i hope somebody going to sticth his mouth and kill him...he always talking shit shit..and i wish every Zimbabwens having a happy and peace

im south Korean and i went to Harare and Vicfall on 2006..great,beautyful country~and nice people~Peace~~my Friends~

  • The same thing happened in Ethiopia. Death to these blood thirsty African leaders.

  • I could win the British election if you gave me a lot of guns and death threats. Heck it's not hard to win with threats. i.e "vote for me or I kill you sons and daughters, sons and daughters, vote for me or I kill mothers and fathers."

  • mugabe supporters are naive and stupid. what will it take 4 them 2 realise that this is murder? i guess when their mothers and fathers are murdered by the mugabe govt. shame on zanu!!

  • the people supporting mugabe are naive. what will it take for them to realise that this is murder? i guess when they have their fathers and mothers murdered by the mugabe govt. shame on zanu!!!

  • fuck mugabe! Support World Socialism.

    Peace, Land, Bred!
