  • OMG WHATS HIS MUSIC I WANT IT D:

  • Wow this is so amazing! Science rules!!!

  • Be good to try and decode the signals into thought data such as video and sound possessed by the brain. For this you would probably need an more advanced probing system.

  • 3:20 One should ALWAYS avoid using OSX to avoid frustration :P

  • i don't have a brain .

  • so what if i was to do my calculus homework while wearing this? ;D

  • 5:11 MFW I saw you processing SC.

  • Ableton Live FTW!!!!!!

  • do it when your high

  • Colin, try mixing your brain beats with your Atari Punk Console! :D Bio-Dubstep!

  • Like inception if it had a concert.

  • Whaooooya... it's reading your brain 3:55 don't let the Government find out about this kit

  • windows ftw

  • @CountdeAll He said it's work in Linux, too :D

  • Cool concept.

Your problem is that you are using a Mac. Throw that piece of sh*t away and get a real computer. Those drums sound terrible.

  • "I'll do some basic math in my head..."

Stares at the opposite wall... o.O

  • Since this is your brain's "music" does that mean that you will love it?

  • O LOOK HE HAS A MUSICAL BRAIN!

  • Fricking awesome episode.

  • LOL at your doing math in your head...

  • 1980's: New Wave; 2010's: New Brain Wave. I'm only 25 but I love it!! ;-)

  • I want to buy a mindset controller to have a brain rave.... but they are a little bit out of my price range

  • LMAO - brain wave!

  • this is how C418 creates his music

  • so how micu for such a device? i noticed you didnt give a price... too expensive to mention? anyway that would be bad ass to be able to incorperate this with adruino driven robots!! ;) scarry how fast tech is gettin up there huh?

  • @bearpatch626 Actually if you follow the link to the actual article there's a link to the website where you can buy the headset. It's an affordable $200, which is pretty sweet! Unfortunately it's just a brainwave reader, so without a cool function for it such as in this video it would be a waste of money

  • THIS. IS THE COOLEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN.

  • wow that was some good thinking. with practice you could play it purposely like a instrument.

  • Brainwave Brainrave?! But you should try thinking about different things and use those outputs to see if you could use them to control things, like a remote control car or even just a light switch turning on and off.

  • @hamham1313 that would be awesome

  • the future wont have DJ's.. the music will be built and feedback on the vibe of the crowd :-)

  • THE VIRGINITY IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE

  • @nommaster123 LMAO!! You really made me laugh so much!!

  • you should make the track variation more "sensitive" to mental activity and make meats have higher bpm as your brain waves get faster

  • Mr. Collin is cool ya man...

  • AWESOME

  • So, would it be possible to use Arduino with a headphone jack and the source code in order to have a portable soundtrack to your life?

  • @TheChrispbakon You'd need to have a MIDI synth on or seperate to the arduino.

  • @TheChrispbakon In theory, yes!

  • I've had dreams where music was created in it that I couldn't remember or express once I woke. I wonder if in the future you could sleep with this on and it could record the music,as in the instrumental. I can remember the words but I only been producing for a very short time.

  • whats that music composing program???

  • @itsmewallis ableton live

  • TRY ALERTNESS!!!

  • BASIC math, so like calc 2 for collin

  • Osx uses intel processors since they stopped the g series. The g series used ibm power pc processors. Osx architecture is a mash up. Of openstep, bsd, darwin, and xnu which uses mach. Very little of mac osx is actually unix and apple does not submit for unix certification anymore

  • Hey GREAT video!!

  • I snorted when you said brainrave. Thanks =3

    I needed the laugh =D

  • ahh the cheezy puns thay hurt!

  • and ones have the tutorial to hack a star force trainer star war???

  • Macintosh computers are based on Unix and an Intel processor

Regardless, this vid is pretty sweet

  • smart people dont use apple they use WINDOWS AND INTEL

  • @youaresosolame

No, they use a linux distro....

  • @youaresosolame Apple uses intel

  • i will be smarter then you

  • what software did you use sir?

  • BRAINWAVE BRAINRAVE!

  • Collin, the lamp suits your head

  • Collin rules.

  • nerdgasm!! is it possible to make a tweak that can control a point in a 3D virtual space, so the brain can be trained to control an external device in terms of another limb? I believe that if we are in a time where ANYONE with some skills can do this, we can create affordable solutions for people with special needs, from scraps or new components or whatever, but now is the time, it is easier than ever.

  • yes exponential musical meditation

ie: you start meditating and the beat you get from your meditation aids in your meditation

  • you forgot gamma waves!

  • Awesome!

  • please provide us with the source code ...and did u directly wrote it in processing i.e does the mindset support processing? or did u use wrapper

  • Brain rave...LETS DO IT!

  • The really cool Tench no music and talk of brain waves made me want to play earth bound :) now I just have to dig up my snes

  • lmao thumbs up for the dream thing

  • been a while since we had a 'Collin's Lab', always enjoyed it, loved it as usual, learned something new as usual, pls keep it coming! and thanks!

  • how come there is no chinese version of this thing? It's $200 on the company's website

  • lol this nigga look like david cross fucked gemaine clement

  • What language did you use to write your code?

  • this needs to seriously be a scientific experiment. you are on to something BIG

  • 5:10 Greatest "deep thought" face you will ever see, Nice work Collin, keep it up

  • great as usual!

  • This is my next project...I find this very interesting

  • I'm using it to control a T-100 terminator!

  • That's seriously cool man!

  • cool vid but what happened to all ur hair u dont look that old??

  • this is pretty cool

  • Love it

  • @zpucek your life is fake

  • @karolis4ever u jelly?

  • maybe i can use this to control my computer :D

  • why am I still laughing at "Brain Rave"!?

  • 5:01

    Here comes the maths face.

  • is that a fake?? i never tough that ur tecniqe are able to do this!!! but this kicks ass, i think its easier to work this way

  • I'd be scared to hear what it sounded like when the person was on various drugs. lol

  • I wonder if it plays hippy hardcore when you are wanking?

  • sad face. :(

i needz to be bald to use this?...

  • I would rig it up to two lights, a green and a red, and it would be a yes and no communicator.

  • Your brain sounds pretty good. Nice beatz!

  • Should code it to control pacing in video playback. Video plays faster when you're bored, slows down at the interesting parts.

  • Sounds like something from Rez

  • i bet collin will use this device to compose music while sleeping ahaha really amazes me what can you do with these things!

  • Fourier Transform?!

  • This is awesome! :)

  • Can You use this to read someones mind????

  • SALUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Brain Rave.... I see what you did there.

  • if the music we're making is anything like the intro, then I'm out

  • But Colin, when you attempted relaxing, did you take a cleansing breath?

  • Hey collin. Im studying to become a mechanical engineer. But I also really wonna learn to make these cool devices from makemagazine. My knowledge is pretty limited at this point. Can U recommend a good way to get started, like wep pages and books?

    thx!

  • i like that u went through the technical stuff even tho it made no sense to me.

next time u need more SUBBB!

  • you can try it when you are sleeping

  • Brain rave? Laaame. lol.

  • BRAIN RAVE! IT WOULD BE A MASSIVE RAVE PARTY OF GEEKS LIKE ME!

  • HES TOO SMART!!! lol

  • yay, 6660 views xD

    Nice vid btw

  • collin's best vid yet!!

  • the Diving SpudMarine is CRAP compared to this!!!!!!

  • I had a midi device that did exactly this, it was made in the 90's and was called a Waverider. unfortunately mine broke and is nearly impossible to get repaired.

  • Try it while looking at porn! =)

  • im gonna be like, hey dude, wannna listen to my brain?

  • were is kipkay?

  • "brain rave" Awesome quote from Collin!!!!!

i reallly liked this vid, thank man, your awesome :)

  • Brain Rave! I thought Collin was speaking in a Chinese accent! =D

    Good stuff!

  • Does anyone know how does this Mindset work? What kind of electrodes are they using?

I would try to construct something similar.

  • Coining of the word: Brain Rave.

    Love it!

  • What program does he use for composing music?

  • @dragossshadow ableton live

  • Brainrave FTW !!!

  • I can see the brain rave ,a bunch of guys with very serious focused expressions wearing headsets concentrating like tibetan monks...

  • Strange they didn't use the term "Neural Feedback" anywhere in the video or summary, but this is exactly what Colin is doing. Another way to get EEG readings is to use a ZEO. If you upload a special "raw output" firmware (manufacturer supported, even.) and use a special python library someone threw together, you can get the REM/light/deep/awake, EEG output, and alpha/beta/etc channels.

  • Strange they didn't use the term "Neural Feedback" anywhere in the video or summary, but this is exactly what Colin is doing.

  • The Great Brain Rave! haha

Colin is great!, does he have his website for his projects?

  • No other channel has such a high incidence of annoying retards. Im convinced the people here dont actually like watching any videos - they just like commenting on the hosts they do like and complaining about ones they dont. We dont need the same stupid "wheres kipkay" and "this is why i subscribed" comment on EVERY VIDEO...MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO!

Why dont you guys actually comment on something instead of telling me about your preferences, because frankly I DONT CARE. SHUT THE FUCK UP, RETARD.

  • @kekejojo1212 I agree with you 100%. Why don't people add some constructive ideas instead of acting like hockey hooligans cheering on their favorite team? Beats me.

  • Не плохой способ писать драм =D

  • madness!!

  • Collin does have his own channel, and you should subscribe to that one as well!

  • This is very interesting. The life on earth in the next 30 years will be very different from what we know right now. This a step for the incredible

  • daaaamn i wish i could have your programming skills!

  • you aere a fucking genious

  • So kipkay doesn't do videos here anymore?

    *re-subs*

  • So Kipkay doesn't do videos here anymore?

    *Unsubbed*

  • this is awesome!! thank you for sharing Collin!!

  • haha brain rave that's funny

  • Oh man, I can just see a whole new genre of music stemming out of this. It will have to be called theta jam

  • Could I use my brainwaves to supplement my controls in a videogame?

    Apparently not.

  • @Craydon Yes you can.

  • @blva888 Not the way I'd want to, please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd want to be able to think of an action and have it happen. Think "Fireball" and the character does it.

  • @Craydon Little tweaking with a program like collin did and you can.

  • @Craydon nope. you can't. sorry.

  • so ican get to know if some one is lying?Uh?

  • Comment removed

  • That was punny :D

  • so does a 50 kHz wave mean u have a heart attack!??

  • subscribed for kipkay weekend projects.

  • @kushalmahidhar thats nice

  • I read the title as"Brainwave Beetles" and thought it was about robot contoled through thoughts

  • Brain rave lol I always love your stuff

  • iVE g0t drAin BAmAgE /(

  • Oh god you gotta switch the headset from one person to another for a demo It would be a sweet experiment.

  • The Apples in Stereo beat you to the punch, Col; the leader turned a brainwave-powered toy into a brainwave-to-CV interface.

  • Very well made

  • @makemagazine where can i get these?

  • @TBJmoovies it's called Live

  • EPIC!

  • 5:00 Collin does basic math in his head. p vs pnp JUST got solved XD

  • did anyone else think he looked hilarious at 5:11. haha love you collin!

  • What do you know...Mac screws something up.

  • @TBJmoovies

    Ableton Live

  • Neuroscience as a hobby, is that a good thing?

  • A machine reading your mind? Really?

  • colin's brain is so active that the music never stopped :P

  • Who thinks collin should do tutorials on Ableton Live? I do for sure.

  • Basic math for collin is probably rocket science to me.
