I'm looking for a reasonable flamenco guitar to start off playing Latin music. Does anyone know of some good sites that carry cheap flamencos? Possibly under $350?
I love your playing and thank you so much for your website, it has been very useful to me to undestand a lot of things about this beautiful instrument!!!
I have to hand it to you...you do a lot of things well. I guess there are only two things to do in Canada...guitar or hockey. Cleary, you made your choice! Much respect to Lenny Breau, Ted Greene, Ed Bickert, Rik Emmett, and Randy Bachman!
Well done sir! Really appreciate you putting up informative videos that educate and inspire people to keep leanrning. Hope the Lord continues to bless you and your talents. Way to use them!
hi there andrew I have a question: there is a sequence of three major chords that I like to play ( kind of flamenco style of music), for example F Gb and Ab or instead of classic F major chord I play it with a minor 2nd instead of playing the octave... well I can't seem to figure out the harmony of this sequence, I thought it could come from a F phrygian but then the first would have to be minor right?
@creativeguitarstudio Great, you just informed me that what I thought was my classical is actually a Bossa style guitar, that's interesting to know, thanks :)
I don't play guitar - I actually play bass and drums.
What kind of bass playing would suit this kind of music? I found just walking suited it, but then again what doesn't walking suit? Is there any standard kind of bass styles to play here -- ie, match the rhythm, play a certain rhythm, what chord tones to play etc?
this is the thing i was looking for

just an idea ... I notice the fifth mode of the harmonic minor fits very well with this progression could it be coming from there?

Reply to G562UNOT,
That guitar is often called a, "Bossa" style.
(cutaway classical type is a Bossa).
And, they are very nice for this Latin style.
