  • no problem man.....the most engines ive ever seen on a train around here was 8 and it was an IC lead with a CN then 6 black BCRail 4 axle units

  • beautiful catch and lashup

  • @sexyflager101 thanks!

  • well i got to say iv never seen a train that long be for

  • wow.

  • The rule says that you can not have more than 12 engines in a consist, and no more than i think 20 axles with power "online". So most of those engines are actually being pulled along like freight cars (the engines are not producing power).

  • @jacobew2000 I think you're 20 axles online guess is a little low.

  • @crazeejay2006 I had to look it up in my ABTH book (airbrake and train handling) at work. You can have only 42 axles regular freight cars, or 48 with all intermodal cars online. With 6 axles that would make no more than 8 engines online. Rest would have to be isolated from producing power. But keep in mind that they also have fuel conservation requirements now depending on the division. So that will keep the max engines online lower than 8 anyway.

  • @jacobew2000 I should say lower than 12. I have never seen more than 9 online, with that being 3-3-3 configuration on my division. I have heard of some experimentation by an east coast railroad trying to do 2-2-2-2, but that gets crazy on the DP'n.

  • @jacobew2000 Yeah, there's something similar to that around my area. CN uses a hpt ratio (horse power per ton). Depending which subdivisions they're running on, some have steeper grades, etc, and require the ratio to be higher. I think as you mentioned, it varies between intermodal and freight trains.

  • @jacobew2000 just remember he could be bouncing power

  • Nice catch crazeejay, they obviously have lots of money to burn that train was not that long ,or maybe they are transporting locomotives some were.

  • @hankpenninga They are transfering them. They wont have them all online.

  • Now that's what call diesel locomotive power WOW! @_@

  • WOW thats a lot of locos

  • pfffftttt, thats not that impressive, i mean come on, it's ONLY 11 engines. lol nice shot Jay
