  • Imma bring data every time I play

  • 2:04 = boner

  • Baby needs a new pair of shoes. I LOVE DATA!!

  • 1:23 lol

  • They couldn't have picked a better actor to portray Data. =)

  • I heart Data so much! Squeeeeeeee!

  • Data is the sex.

  • "Single digits" on the dice? These aren't d10s you're rolling here.

  • Actually, the probability of a 7 is greater than that of a 6, Riker. You should know better.

  • @WavemasterAshi Riker said that a 6 doesn't have a higher chance to roll out than a seven, so he's actually right...But the way it's worded makes it sound like there's an equal chance.

  • cubes....<3

  • Data is so smooth, I love this!

  • How I much I love this, I cannot even put into words.

  • slick!

  • Data: "Baby needs a new pair of shoes"

  • @xXLadyDataxX LOL I totally wasn't expecting that, and lost it when he said that!

  • @mgospeed31 Neither did I since Data is incapable of any emotions. I also love his facial expressions every time he rolls the dice XD

  • From one of the dumbest episodes ever, but one of my favorites!

  • 2:18 was the funniest face he ever made! XD

  • Comment removed

  • His little snap and smile is so FUNNY! XD love it

  • That was awesome!

  • Hahahaha!! Data makes me laugh :)

  • Why did he have a cool smile if he doesnt have emoticons :p

  • I am so happy they put this on netflix. I never watched this before because I was to young when it was on but omg it is awesome. Data is such a great character. One time this chick was like "I have a million questions!" and Data with a straight face goes "I am afraid I will not have time for a million questions..."

  • how does an android, a spectacularly advanced artificial intelligence, end up saying that he 'believes' in something... since belief denotes faith...

  • @gaptoofgranny He is able to adapt to learn phrases and use them in sentence… If I were to say, “I believe he has the correct answer.” It is different than saying, “I believe in Joe Dimaggio,” or “I believe in my religion.” He is that advanced to be able to use phrases, and once an emotion chip is installed, Data is practically human. He also has full human functionality, as he proved with Tasha Yar that wonderful night!

  • Can Data cheat at that DN9 Ferangi table game Quark has too?

  • @Odbarc yes probably, but he wouldn't the only reason he cheated there was to allow himself worf and riker to escape the hotel

  • That was so unexpected when I first saw this, that's probably why I laughed lol

  • The probability of rolling a 7 is greater than that of rolling a 6...

  • I thought this would be a Trek-related Rick Roll.

  • To the question that has been asked many times... of course Data is alive!

  • Nice dubs.

  • Season 2 Riker... SO handsome!

  • I love the episodes where Data gets to break out of character for a bit! He was the best in the series.

  • LMAO Baby needs a new pair of shoes..... That cracked me up

  • You gotta roll 'em smooth. Just like a freaking android. Smoooooth.

  • God this was like the worst episode ever.

  • Data is my favorite character, I loved this episode haha.

  • 2:19

    xD

  • Three people were dumb enough to bet against Data.

  • How can a roll of 2 with a point already established lose a Pass Line?

  • @SpeargunHDTV Two doesn't lose, but it isn't a win either unless a field bet is placed.

  • Riker understated when he said that a 6 as no more likely than a 7. A 7 is 20% more likely than a 6, and Data didn't even correct him. Also, doubling up on the Pass Line ad infinitum would not be practical even if allowed. A quicker strategy would have been to bet the maximum on the 2 or the 12 next-roll bets or (to be more polite) the 11 next-roll bet, although that would not accumulate wealth nearly as fast.

  • Am I the only one who's thinking about Puck and Xanatos when I watch this? XD

  • @alacran1992 Remember, Data is programmed to imitate humans. Also, I'm sure he is programmed to show that he is content. As he sometimes displays too, he can mimic emotion perfectly though he doesn't feel it. For example this video and the episode "In Theory."

  • I LOVE DATA!!!!!!!!!

  • "There are creatures in the universe...who would consider you the ultimate achievement, android." Q to Data

  • 1:24 hm yeah that's wasn't a sexist moment at all. A male wrote this episode and a male directed it

  • I think Data is lying throughout the entire show about the whole emotion thing. He smiles all the freaking time.

  • 1:58

  • Wow

  • 0:13 Are there any double digits on a cube?

  • Comment removed

  • Baby needs a new pair of shoes ;)

  • Oh Gawd, Data <3<3<3

  • i wonder if Data ever gambles at the Trek convention in Las vegas

  • AWW! his little cheeky smile to Riker... LOVE HIM

  • Oh my god Data is so sassy. Love it

  • this video made me all horny >:B

  • That title was a total misnomer!

  • @djdetonator23 And how is it a misnomer?

  • @deltaray3 I forgot the smiley face :-) my comment was just a joke. You see, I was under the assumption that I would be seeing data "rolling" on xtc.

  • Ahhh data, I do love ya.

  • cheating is FUN!!! lol

  • NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!!!

    NEVER GONNA LETT YOU DOOWWN!!

  • 2:27 He's sooooooooo sexy when he does that!!!!

  • This is going into my fav :D

  • freakn Data! ha ha ha ha!!!

  • He didn't notice that the dice were unbalanced on the first two rolls?

  • @SSPerfectChaos How would he know until he sees the result of trying to roll number X?

  • @deltaray3 By weight alone. My guess though is he wanted to experience the mis-calibrated cubes response to his randomly throwing them to see if it was in someway more relevant to the game and the randomness required to properly enjoy gambling. He is after all, Starfleet, for whom money boarders on meaninglessness. After that though, I think he gets into, "I'm a badass" mode.

All I got to say about the rest though is this:

Careful Data... the house ALWAYS wins.

    ;)

  • @deltaray3 The weight. Although it came later, the scene of him detecting imperfections in the hull of the first ship with warp showed he has enhanced "senses" for these kinds of things.

  • @SSPerfectChaos I think they got damaged in the process, or maybe HE confused ME with his explanation, instead of him being the one who's usually confused by humans :P

  • @SSPerfectChaos He does do a little double-take when he first picks up the dice at 0:46. He seems to weigh them in his hand and frown at them. Maybe he needed to try a couple of rolls to confirm.

  • @SSPerfectChaos notice he said improperly balanced that means improperly balanced for his desires which is to get the same numbers again and again and again hence he had to break the dice not repair them in this instance therefore it was not data who erred but infact Riker when he asked if he could repair them and data rigged them

  • @SSPerfectChaos He did, watch his reaction after he firsts picks up the dice, shakes them a bit before half-shrugging to himself in a reconciliatory manner. Sub-text being "Well these dice appear to be loaded, but maybe this is how things where done in this time period".

    Or something.

  • @SSPerfectChaos He's not a god, he's an android. He's also not innately suspicious, that's a human trait. So he's not going to even think about something like that, which is only barely perceptible even to him immediately. Now, if that's not geeky enough, I give up.

  • @SSPerfectChaos at 0:49 he does, watch again.

  • @SSPerfectChaos he noticed 0:49

  • @SSPerfectChaos

he did notice it, he even looked at the dice a little awkward but shrugs it off as "...hmmm, what ever..."

  • This IS a really good scene!

  • baby needs a new pair of shoes

    LOL

    love this

  • Data! I love you!!!!!

  • "There is a certain degree of randdom fortune involved. I believe that is why they call it gambling."

  • Baby has a nice set!

  • Damn, there used to be a YTMND with an animation of this... anyone else seen it? I'm not sure if it was deleted or what.

  • @EmperorJim I would love to see it, that's for sure

  • Looks like 1 person can go fuck himself with a cucumber!

  • He seemed almost human when he said "Baby needs a new pair of shoes" and then the way he looked at Riker lol

  • Its so funny I mean sometimes he acts nerdy then randomly he puts the boss thing.Data best star trek character.

  • looks like 1 person can go fuck themself

  • I can't imagine how Brent kept a straight face when he did that.

  • @bbadjosh THATS acting.

  • @bbadjosh

he's just that good of an actor, but If the rest of the outtakes are anything to go by, he probably was busting up laughing inbetween. I can't imagine with him, J.Frakes and LeVar were together that much work ever got done.

  • it looks like there is a camera in front of a bunch of people

  • I bet Brent loved this scene.

  • looooool this is hilarious xD I can't believe they really shot this scene :D

"Baby needs a new pair of shoes" Oscar.

  • after that Riker could go all in playing poker and double it

  • "Baby needs a new pair of shoes."One of the hottest scenes of Data in TNG. Thank'n you muchly for uploading it. =D

  • If there are weights inside the dice making them roll a certain way, then how can Data affect them?

  • @Foebane72 Data said they were improperly balanced, so based on that we don't know the exact method that was used to "load" the dice. However, we do know that the dice are not weighted, because they are translucent. That being said, it's not realistic that Data could have changed the shape of the dice without damaging them, unless he could have heated them (which is not documented anywhere as within the capabilities of his hands).

  • @tml4873

if he applied steadily pressure from all sides, they would heat up if i recall this correctly.

  • @tml4873

Wikipedia's article for dice says variable dice contain a substance which can be melted (thus altering the weighting) through convection using the human body. No damage to the dice, since the cubes themselves aren't melted. Now, it was revealed in 2nd episode that he, having been designed to function as close to a humanoid as possible, contains "nutritional fluid" in lieu of blood - I'd figure it probably keeps his body warm, as human blood does. It is a bit of a stretch though.

  • @redconversetheorem This would depend on the dice being that type. Not only is it strongly implied that Data is squeezing the dice to "repair" them, but this type of variable die could not possibly be translucent, which they are.

  • @tml4873

Ah, I didn't see that. That being the case, I don't know then.

  • DATA FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

  • And this is why my personal nickname for TNG is "The Data Show".

  • lol Baby needs a new pair of shoes...

  • slick...

  • Data should have played strip poker with those casino whores.

  • Love his expression at the end it just like:

    I'm SO GOOD!

  • Squeeze those dice, Data.

  • Baby needs a new pair of shoes.

    Oh man, I love this!

  • Wow I just sqealed like a little fangirl. But I can't help it! Data is sooo cute!

  • @deppgurl150 As did I, and I'm not even a fangirl...

  • omg i <3 data soo muchh:]

  • Data the emotionless android? Looks like he is enjoying himself here! LOL "baby needs a new pair of shoots!"

  • @rad4life1 I believe the excuse is that he is merely mimicking how other people do it.

  • s'why you don't let droids gamble...they cheat!

  • Over 6 trillion calculations per second >>> a craps table

    Data FTW!

  • Not to nick-pick, but its actually 60 trillion. lol but i agree totally

  • D'oh, shoulda known that... *hangs head in shame*

  • So true!

  • Do you really think physics hasn't advanced in ~3,5 centuries, people?!?

  • haha i never get tired of this...

  • Ah yes Brugality, you're talking about good old fashioned chaos. I'd have to agree with you.

  • Too bad the actor is old and wrinkly now, I enjoyed that character!

  • The way Data swaggerly snapped his fingers made my day. :)

  • @Nodrog666 Yeah, it almost made up for that awkward dice roll.

  • @Nodrog666 "Swaggerly." I like that.

  • 2:11 killer lips... killer...

  • Soooooooo cuuuuuuute! I looooooove Data!

  • The last 30 seconds, makes this

  • ill wear datas shoes :P

  • Unless he has taken the backstop into account...

  • Stll impossible. The dice even when thrown with the EXACT same force, pressure, speed etc.. will fly through the air differently and land differently against the backstop -- even fractional differences make for different roles and outcomes. An android can't control the dice once it leaves its hands.

  • Normally, I wouldn't bother with an argument like this but I have to disagree. What number the dice land on are just physics. Data can control the exact angle and amount of force he uses to throw the dice and he can do thousands of incredibly complex calculations in a second. I don't think that this would present much of a challenge.

  • @Bryan1108 It doesn't matter. Even if you take two dice put them in a mechanical hand in a completely controlled enviroement with 0 wind, constant air pressure, etc... and release them straight down onto a flat surface they will STILL randomly land on different combinations without any consistency every time. THIS HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE AND YOU CAN GOOGLE THE RESEARCH.

  • @Bryan1108 And you're right, it is physics. Data cannot control the dice once they leave his hand. Once it's in the air the constant micro changes in air pressure, wind will change the movement of the dice. What's more it iwll hit the jagged backstop, and land on the roulette table at different angles. No matter how perfectly controlled a release of dice is the roulette table and PHYSICS guarantees randomness.

  • @Bryan1108 Slight correction: I meant CRAPS table, not roulette table.

In addition Riker falsely claims that the "probability of making a 6 is no greater than that of rolling a 7" which Data does not correct him. There is a GREATER probability of rolling a 7, than a 6 with two dice. 5 to 1 odds of rolling a 7 and about 6.2 to 1 odds of rolling a 6 to be exact.

  • Okay, before I say anything else ...

    Dude.

You've responded three times to an off-hand comment about a TV show that ended about fifteen years ago.

However this discussion ends, you've got to get yourself a life.

    That being said, here are my arguments;

    1. Data can do thousands of calculations using math that is something like 3 centuries ahead of our math. You're telling me that it is impossible that they've discovered a thing or two that you're not aware of?

    2. It's a television show.

  • All depends on what frame of reference you are talking about. The table, room, universe are all chaotic systems and it would be impossible to calculate the thousands of variables without being able to predict the future or knowing everything about the past.

    Research chaos theory.

  • @0teh0killah do some ur own research last yr they found flaws in chaos theory by using tests from the LHC and now scinetist in geneva are now saying its impossible now

  • Its not impossible, there are patterns of reapition that one can follow through observation and non interfearance. You can even track the movement of an individual in time ;)

  • @Brugality

people have trained themselves to control dice themselves, obviously not as good as this, but they can swing the odds slightly

  • data is data... the best idea of the star trek producers

  • Data is just genious.

  • Baby needs a new pair of shoes! double 'em up!

  • Am I the only one who just loves Data's smile? *drool*

  • no! I love it too!!

  • Data got it!

  • Oh Data, you can do it all.

  • ha! yeah, this one's great. :D

  • Hee hee Data gambling... Riker gambling o.o

  • Data's a crazy cool cat. ;-]

  • Thats why he has one. :D

  • LOL spot's awesome!! XD

  • He's the coolest.:)

  • HAHAHA

  • Data and Spock love gambling for the exileration! lol

  • Data was the superior of Spock. Or...so I heard lol.

  • Well Data could probably out-logic him. Seeing as he is mechanical and an android's thought is based entirley on logic without the factor of emotion. Which even to a full Vulcan is still a threat. But as we saw in "I, Mudd". Spock is able to take advantage of an androids "requirement" for logical explanation. Although Data seems to be better than Norman and Alice at coping with illogical human desicion.

    So I don't really know.

  • He supposedly took his spot.

  • data's programing and circuitry design could be based off organic systems (just a guess i don't watch startrek) that allow him to recognize and process illogical thoughts and decisions without crashing while still thinking with the cold and emotionless logic of machines.

  • Data was designed to learn about human behavior thus evolving to become more human. Which therefore allows him to manage illogicality, unlike Norman and Alice who were made to be slaves.

  • i see

  • XD lol

  • lol XD

  • data does really love gambling, if you've seen enough episodes, :)

  • I think it's because it's one of the few things he doesn't have a control over. He can compute as many possibilities/outcomes as he wants and it might not come out the way he wanted.

  • was there really something wrong with the dice...or did he cheat??

    if so..naught naught XD

  • the dice were improperly balanced to make it harder for people with experience of rolling dice like Data for example he knew just how to throw it but the dice were improperly balanced so it wouldn't work so he balanced them out.

  • So reading the comments, while there's all this fuss about men getting in touch with their emotions, what the ladies fall for is a competent and self confident guy. Even if he fakes every smile he ever put on :)
