I suggest you learn the concept of a paradoxical last laugh in humour.
Like an amputee who lost a leg and is suing an organization for compensation, then in court being told by the defense lawyer "he has no case, it was his own carelessness, frankly he doesn't have a leg to stand on!"
Then he says "Actually I do, so there!"
Is that simple enough? Or do you need more examples of a paradoxical last laugh...
I would fail...I'd score the highest I could, and show them I'm 145, smarter than the Judge probably, I'll get executed, by I can call almost everyone in the room a dumbass, and that I've got paperwork to prove it. I'll get executed, but THEY will be pwned. ^_^
Who wrote Hamlet? That's stupid. Most people would know the answer worldwide but it's still culturally biased and knowledge based. Nothing to do with reasoning or intelligence, pure knowledge.
It is not true that if you score "high" on an iq test that you are"smart". Your iq represent your potential capabilities. I like to visualize iq like this; how "big" your box is. How much "stuff" you can put in this box. And you can shuffle this box. And everytime you do that you will get different orders. When you have an high iq, and you put enough knowledge in that box and you shuffle it, the results would be far more complex than someone who has a relative small box.
@Alwin2007 Yeah , thanks to them , we got computers that crashes, printers that mixes up pages, tons of wireless encryption problems, and burned out people trying to remember 20 passwords.
Iq tests are skewed, what good are they? If a kid has attention problems and doesnt learn crap in high school, bombs the general knowledge section, but could easily grasp the theories of quantum physics if it interested him because he wanted to be challenged. Stephen Hawking quote " anyone that boasts about iq scores is a loser", smart people are humble because they know they are smart, people who perceive their cognitive abilities are lacking feel a uncontrollable need to boast about scores
Well, it goes a bit too far for me to say anyone that boasts about his/her IQ is a loser. People boast about all kinds of stuff. It's even a part of socializing and it could be fun. IQ tests are not good predictors of intelligence. I mean, I had to take an IQ test some time ago and scored average. The psychologists were puzzled by the fact that I had an above average educational background (I studied at a university) and still did poorly on the tests.
Well the thing I find about iq tests is simple, I realize the type of things I should be looking for.
Questions like, "how are these similar?"
-First time through, I have no clue. But on a different test, with a different questions, I figure out the things to look for.
Put simply-- you can study for an IQ test and do well. An extremely intelligent person could do horribly on an iq test if it is the first one they ever took.
@CrackHeadForLife420 that is the point, u did well on the test becauze u find the way to solve that problem on pictures, iq potential to solve different problems in different situations and realize something that low iq cant.
IQ is nonsense, brought to you by psychiatry; and psychiatry is part of the control mechanism which is part of the system of class and race distinction.
Assigning a number to intelligence falls within the realm of science fiction, sort of like the capacity to beam someone up on a spaceship ( Pure Fiction). Ejexion, surely you must see the fiction in IQ and in many aspects of psychiatry as well. I think that if you truly analyze and go beyond what the proponents of IQ are saying then you will see it all for what it is and for what it was meant to accomplish. The elites have created these types of frauds throughout the centuries.
@Elesparto : You make some assumptions that render your comments extraneous. I cannot bother with additional replies, as it would be an immense waste of time to disabuse you of the notions to which you're committed.
Individuals differ greatly in talent ability, creativity and in the nature of intelligence. This observation alone should tell you how complex intelligence truly is. Intelligence is as complex as the universe itself; and neither mystery will ever be solved. And you want to tell me a few academics have solved this? Please do not quip with me. The tragedy here is that IQ is taken as seriously as life itself but it does not merit any significance.
The shouldn't NOT treat low IQ criminals differently. That's not fair at all! It's like saying "he couldn't help killing those people, he's retarded", as if being retarded somehow contributes to violence. Following their logic, people with extremely high IQs should recieve harsher punishments than normal.
@CanadiaNecro1 "Following their logic, people with extremely high IQs should recieve harsher punishments than normal"
If that is what you think, you are not actually following their logic. I'm not sure why you think it is "not fair" to take into a consideration whether someone has the mental capacity to fully understand their actions and consequences they may produce. We are not all equal in that way. Executing a person with the mental ability of a child would be just like executing a child.
@CanadiaNecro1 : The more highly intelligent SHOULD receive harsher punishments, as they are more aware and therefore responsible for their crime. That is logic at its utmost.
@Ejexion You could have an incredably high IQ and be batshit crazy and delusional. And alot of retarded people know exactly what they are doing and whether it is right or wrong, like a child.
I think it can. That is if those trying desparately to prove the legitimacy of their naturalistic eugenics beliefs wouldn't sabotage those who they don't see as good enough, or who are a threat to their agenda.
lol im a 20 years old male and i've tested 132 in some tests, but i was kinda dumb when i was younger, i think it depends, i think that being an adult increases your awareness and changes your perspective about everything.
that's actually not as simple as you think, since the twelve year old may not have the same knowlegde as the 20 year old but wil have the same ability to reach a conclusion, that's why the 12 year old and the 20 year old will both have different questions to answer, so they could have the same IQ
@PoTh911 the ability to reach a conclusion DOES change over time.
I have taken some IQ tests given to me by my aunt (she is a psychologist) for 5 years now, every year.
My iq drastically increased every year.
But... I somehow believe that if George has an iq of 120 and John has an iq of 130, both at the age of 10, no matter what age they reach, John will always have a greater iq than his friend George.
Hope you understand what I want to say, since english is not my native language.
True, But I think the question at hand is whether IQ increases once you have stopped growing and if its possible to reverse brain degeneration and actually increase it. Imo its also a simple yes.
IQ score calculation is an age based calculation... the Intelligence Quotient can remain as the same figure through life, but you're smarter than before because you're more experienced... your age is part of the calculation to obtain your IQ score...
He may have not even known that he was being administered an IQ test. It's not easy (if possible at all) to fake your score. It is known that there is high correlation between the sub-scores.
Your IQ doesn't change after about 12 years of age (except in very rare cases). There are cognitive factors that are developing differentially, and are equally important to one's intelligence, but unfortunately these factors are not completely understood yet.
If he is being persecuted for a crime then obviously he will lie during an IQ test. From my experiences, IQ does not change over time. The methods used to measure it do, however. This is because of the age of the participant/subject. And because the questions/methods changed over the years, they became more accurate and hence began bringing out Daryl's REAL IQ.
But of course that is just all in theory. He MAY HAVE actually been mentally retarded. Who knows...
IQ is liked to brains gray matter and will vary when latter is increased or decreased. IQ is tf lowered after traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia, long time depression (or when normal brain development does not happen in accordance to previous age-correlated score). Also damage to nerve system, insulin chock or hypoglycemic coma may reduce functionality. Gray matter is restored with meditation, mental/physical exercise, coordination improvement etc.
it can be as high as you want...wat r u on about??..we are all the same..people these days have high IQs because they choose to have them..they apply their thinking capablitiy to the situation with positive intuition..u can be as smart as you want :)
So you're saying ppl dont learn over time? I know as much as i did when i was 5? I know its a qoutient of your ''intelligence'', but i just think its kind of weird to say your IQ will never go up as you get older.
IQ is the ability of your brain to reach an answer or conclusion. If you have a high IQ you may get the answer in 5 minutes whereas someone with a lower IQ may get the answer in 2 hours. They are both at the same intelligence level as long as time is not a factor. I think you are confusing IQ with knowledge.
My personal experience has shown that IQ scores can fluctuate over time. I personally took the MENSA tests in the late 70's, mid 80's, mid 90's and in 2002 and 2005. My age varied from late teens to late 40's. I noted while taking the tests that my mindset and thought patterns were affected a lot by external conditions and my fluctuating ability to concentrate over the testing period.
-continued- Since I only passed the MENSA tests with a high enough score about 1/2 the time I didn't become a member, thinking it to be misrepresentative of truth. My Son and my Daughter both tested in the same range as I and my wife did so I believe that genetics has a LOT to do with IQ scores. We always made sure that we had a full library and a lot of books available to our children when they were young. Reading and developing your mind seem to affect your ability of critical reasoning.
okay i get what u are saying but couldn't be that they scored in the same range as u and ur wife because your son and daughter grew up with u thus learning from u. now lets say i raised them and i taught them things that were different as they were growing up do u think that will have had an impact on that test?
@aveng006 My IQ has risen 28 points since I took the test in high school. Over that period of time I've learned 2 languages (German and French), learned to play two instruments (piano and guitar), and received my masters in biochemistry. I know from personal experience that IQ does rise after learning new things. My brother Justin decided to get his tested again since he has just finished his 4th year of college for biology (B.S) and he scored 14 points above the score he received in high school
@guitarobsessed85 : I.Q. does not rise after learning new things. You have come to an irrational conclusion. Also, realize that referring to when you 'took the test in high school' could refer to a span of years. It is very much possible, based on what you've told us, that your I.Q. has risen from the time you were 13, say, until now. Of course, I don't know what test you took then, and I don't know what test you took more recently to establish this gain, so you can't be taken seriously yet.
IF IQ does not raise because of new skills gained, which is essentially learning new things, then how does it? Is it merely waiting for the brain to fully develop, and if that is the case, then we should be taking an IQ average of all students at a demanding high achieving prep school, and taking the average of students at a low achieving public school, and the scores should be very close, right? Wrong. It matters more so on where a person's been raised rather that ability. Correct me
@falybrown : I shall. The coherence of your statement aside, I.Q. absolutely correlates highly positively with a person's standard of living. Drawing the conclusion that 'being rich causes high I.Q.' is where you've 'pulled a Gore', made an irrational conclusion. The two correlate, but for reasons you've overlooked. Families are wealthy because of their intelligence, and this intelligence is passed from generation to generation. It's understandable, then, that a parent who went to university...
@falybrown : ... is likely to send their child to university, too. The education compliments the intellect that naturally accompanies the individual, and that education gives financial freedom to the individual.
once you are born whit your iq i believe that is possible to increase it by 3 or 4 points but i believe most people is condemned to break their asses doing things they hate or they dont want to dojust to survive high iq people seems to be a lot more free to choose or develop their true desires and their will to the point that most people would be wondering how do they do,i believe that poor people whit high iq is it more likely to change for good than staying in situation of poverty ignorance
iq has alot to do with memory and how fast you remember things, you cant really improve that. your just born how you are, but if you dont use it to your advantage you might as well be mentaly retarded. say you could have an IQ of 160 but not learn anything ever, you wouldnt be able to take an iq test cause you have no idea how to read or do basic math.
I believe it has a lot to do with the amount of books children read when they are growing, kindergarden through 5th grade, a time when they can take in lots of information at once.
One of the things that helps is watching what you eat. Avoid things like MSG (monosodium glutamate), pesticides on food, fluoride in water, and other things at well that impair or do not help with cognitive function.
When has the legalization of drugs been tried? And mind you, pot will not be free in Ron Paul's presidency (if he even has a chance)
Instead of putting people in jail, give them medical help and rehab. And the drug dealers? They would not be able to reap in such large profits, because it won't be illegal anymore. I prefer this more constructivist approach.
How am I playing dress up next to a pig? It doesn't make me look good because it puts me in the same class as the pig!
i don't like ron paul or karl marx but i'm gonna steal your saying about taking a hurt dog to yelp. here's another one: don't wrestle with a pig because you both get covered in shit except the pig likes it.
This is so ironic! The murderer must have been really stuipid to score high on the IQ test. How retarded do you have to be to score well in an IQ test that will lead to your death?
You need to have a high IQ to delibaretly fail a test like that, as you need to be shure what the right answer is in order to NOT tick the right answer, and ultimately fail the test.

LOL, I think we have come to a decision that we both agree to. Make them suffer the consequences of their own choices! Very pro-choice.

It doesn't make me look good because it puts me in the same class as the pig!

rehab for pot? what rehab or medical help would you need for pot?

i don't like ron paul or karl marx but i'm gonna steal your saying about taking a hurt dog to yelp. here's another one: don't wrestle with a pig because you both get covered in shit except the pig likes it.

I urge you to find out about Ron Paul, because he does have his reasons for legalizing drugs. Something that has yet to be tried.

lol, Atkins' case shows just how fouled up the US education system has become. People don't even learn very much.
As for pretending to be dumb by doing badly, I would imagine that somehow, it would have been administered in a very clear manner.

Very interesting topic, more research on the same topic watch?v=5qOlacRg_w8 sheds even more light on the subject.

This is so ironic! The murderer must have been really stuipid to score high on the IQ test. How retarded do you have to be to score well in an IQ test that will lead to your death?
Jihunn 3 years ago 22
You need to have a high IQ to delibaretly fail a test like that, as you need to be shure what the right answer is in order to NOT tick the right answer, and ultimately fail the test.

@Jihunn if you score high on it, then can you be dumb?
kevinjjfr 1 year ago
@Jihunn because the madness is similar with the high intelligence or eith the very low intelligence
