Mark Tremonti is my favorite guitar player of all time. His techniques and playing style are great. I have bought his peddles and guitars all great equipment. His instructional video was very helpful in improving my playing.
Again-no disrespect, but another big disadvantage of using metal type (meaning-excessive), distortion is that annoying tendancy for the pick noise during picked passages to be louder than the actual notes, which drives me crazy-the pick noise is pretty unmusical and should be minimized imo. I suspect a lot of the fast pickers actually like it because it kind of makes them sound even faster-but if music is the goal, rather than showing off your speed picking, you don't want those loud clicks.
He seems to have a lot of chops, but I wish he (and the rest of the hordes of metal guitarists) would use less distortion. If I could play that fast, I'd want people to be able to hear every note-using that much distortion all the time is analogous to a photographer taking pictures that are always somewhat out of focus. I probably heard about 1/2-3/4 of his notes just because the distortion obscured so many of them, especially on the really fast riffs.

Absolutely brilliant guitar player. One of my guitar idols, I wasn't happy when I saw some of the criticism he got on the sweep picking video. If people did a bit of research on him and his songs they would see sense and understand how good he actually is.

Absolutely spot on, that solo at the end is most likely his warm up Ive seen in an interview he warms up his fret hand first, his actual album solos are always very inspiring, his improv is getting honed as of lately too, not the "best" guitar player ever, but who is? worthless arguement, enjoy great players, have your favorite, mark is my fave because overall hes an outstanding musician.

He doesn't always use delay, he likes to use delay. He's showing you not only a technique but also a style and effect you can add to it. I like it, besides this new instructional dvd I think is going to be a pretty basic either clean or distortion effect depending on what hes playing. Theres a vid showing different patterns that he uses and it has sdistortion but nothin else on it. I dnt knw if uv seen it but you should check it out if you havent its pretty cool...
he needs to realize long delay sounds cool at times really clutters and ruins playing fast. the notes run together too much and it just sounds bad regardless of his great technique

I met Mark and Myles in Orlando at the first show on the Blackbird tour. These guys are class acts all the way and the show was the greatest live show I have ever seen. Tremonti rules!

Mark Tremonti was this good even when he was in Creed. He was held up by Scott Stapp who himself wanted all eyes and attention on him. Now.....Mark practically owns Alter Bridge and can be himself more. From what I've heard, one of many inspirations for creating Alterbridge was to show the world who Tremonti really is. It was rumored that in creed he needed studio musician's to fill which is not true, and he proved that with Alter bridge. Good job Mark!
I won't deny that Mark has always been a great guitarist; you have to be in order to gain the kind of popularity that Creed, and Alter Bridge, have.
However, Mark has admitted in interviews that he worked on his chops after Creed disbanded, citing Petrucci's Rock Discipline, Troy Stetina, Bill Peck, Michael Angelo Batio, Toshi Iseda, and many others for his newfound skills.

so where's your instructional dvd then machnawe? I fancy learning to play with my feet too... Anyway - you're all missing the point. The songs are great... if they make you feel good then who cares about what technique they fucking use, huh? I could alternate pick at a million notes a minute with a wah and sound just like Vai and every other wannabee technique obsessed retard who never had anything original to offer... It's all been done - just write some decent fucking songs, eh ;-)

Tremonti is amazing. I personally like the work he does in Alter Bridge a little better than what he did in Creed. Maybe it's because Stapp was such a douchebag.

This guy is great!! I love the way he uses the wah to cover up all the sloppy playing. This guy is soo much better than Michael Romeo, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Rusty Cooley, and even Jason Becker.

i dissagree tremonti writes the best melodys,and his solos are fuking awesome,u can hum the melody in his solos,the shit he is playing now are just warm up techniques they have no meaning they just get his fingers prepared

Absolutely spot on, that solo at the end is most likely his warm up Ive seen in an interview he warms up his fret hand first, his actual album solos are always very inspiring, his improv is getting honed as of lately too, not the "best" guitar player ever, but who is? worthless arguement, enjoy great players, have your favorite, mark is my fave because overall hes an outstanding musician.

i think he could be the best guitarist.he might not be the best "shredder" or whatnot but he can make Great songs and still add these awesome solos without wrecking the song,everytime i play a metallica song(no disrespect) its just shredding on 1 string,its hard but it bores me,tremonti deserves alot more respect i think.

He doesn't always use delay, he likes to use delay. He's showing you not only a technique but also a style and effect you can add to it. I like it, besides this new instructional dvd I think is going to be a pretty basic either clean or distortion effect depending on what hes playing. Theres a vid showing different patterns that he uses and it has sdistortion but nothin else on it. I dnt knw if uv seen it but you should check it out if you havent its pretty cool...

he needs to realize long delay sounds cool at times really clutters and ruins playing fast. the notes run together too much and it just sounds bad regardless of his great technique

I met Mark and Myles in Orlando at the first show on the Blackbird tour. These guys are class acts all the way and the show was the greatest live show I have ever seen. Tremonti rules!

Mark Tremonti was this good even when he was in Creed. He was held up by Scott Stapp who himself wanted all eyes and attention on him. Now.....Mark practically owns Alter Bridge and can be himself more. From what I've heard, one of many inspirations for creating Alterbridge was to show the world who Tremonti really is. It was rumored that in creed he needed studio musician's to fill which is not true, and he proved that with Alter bridge. Good job Mark!

I won't deny that Mark has always been a great guitarist; you have to be in order to gain the kind of popularity that Creed, and Alter Bridge, have.
However, Mark has admitted in interviews that he worked on his chops after Creed disbanded, citing Petrucci's Rock Discipline, Troy Stetina, Bill Peck, Michael Angelo Batio, Toshi Iseda, and many others for his newfound skills.

damn, I remember a few years ago I read an article where Mark said he was trying to get a lot better at guitar, this was right after Creed broke up and Alter Bridge had released their first single. Guess he was really serious about getting better, good for him.
