I don't understand why he was buried in france..i mean i know he died there but he was only there in the first place to visit and cool off for a few years with pam..he was planning on coming back to the u.s..but its a good thing he was buried there, California is not a good place for his corpse. RIP Jim. I <3 The Doors 4ever. ppl think im weird cuz im 14 and obsessed with The Doors and Jim Morrison and i do research on him all the time..idc LOVE U JIM..RIP:)
I cannot believe nine years has past since I visit this cemettary with Jen, the woman I was dating at the time, when we visited Paris and later London .
So what the United States is what some kind of sanctuary that Jim Morrison should have been buried here? Come on give me a break. Jim Morrison was one of a kind in his own category he was THE MAN and I for one even though I'm a US citizen when my time on earth is over my ashes are going to Jerusalem. He is in a place of peace and he should remain there FOREVER.
I went to his grave. I had in laws in Germany. That is how i got to go. it is so peacful. I didn't want to leave it. I had to ask them in French where is his grave. One year Ray the organ player was there. I would go there every year, when i visited my in laws in Germany. Ray is a nice guy.I have a picture of it.They gated it off so the fans wouldn't vandelize it asshole.
I leave near this grave from 1973 to 2005 this place is a sanctuary with a lot of celebrities. It's sad but beautifull, not only graveyard, a place to find peace, . and respect for all who are in.
"People entering the cemetery illegally over fences at night and hosting parties at Morrison’s grave (leaving behind litter of wine bottles, drug needles and graffiti)"...
I wish they would have brought him back to the states. He could have been buried somewhere meaningful to him and his family were the American public could visit him. He didn't have a Graceland like Elvis, but something could have been done.
Your facist gouvernment forced him to flee the US of A.
You think only the Americans have the right to Jim Morrison's remains to make it an American sideshow like Graceland??
There is no place more beautiful then Paris... And no cemetery has more caracter then pere Lachaise. I know that, Jim knows that, and millions of Americans who take the effort to go to paris know that.
Visitors to Pere Lechaise often have difficulty finding Jim's grave site. Thankfully, someone tipped me off in advance: The narrow, short road called "Rue de Repos" leads to a small, obscure door in the wall surrounding the cemetery. Enter that door; his grave will be in the section to the right & is not very far. There is always a group of people near his grave- look for them. Notice the tree at the foot of his grave site- it is a lovely tree, and absolutely covered with graffiti honoring Jim.
I can't wait to go there. Jim was and still is such a monumental figure. I'm 16 and it pains me to hear other kids my age asking "who is this?" when the doors are playing. Worse yet, some actually say "this sucks." I can't wait to go to Paris. Jim's grave and then all the spots frequented by Hemingway. To me the two are connected in a way. Two great minds inspired by one great city.
@JackWilsonVideos yea i know what you mean, it gives hope with young people like you who still listens to good music, maybe you should listen to lizard sun band, its jim morrisons son, he sounds very much alike and also looks like him, his name is cliff morrison
Most people who visit his grave have no right to be there. They are thrill seeking tourists, and know nothing about the man and his mind. Piss off and go to Disneyland instead.
@Maginnes24 It's in the city itself. Googlemap it, There's a Metro (Paris subway) stop right there under named Pere Lachaise. If U get there B4 me say hi to Jim.
30 years after Jim died the fucking french were going to exhume Jim and get rid of him because the 30 year lease was over, luckily for us there are some die hard fans out there that protected his grave site and thankfully his grave is still here.
but i agree he should have been buried in the UK or US where he rightfully belongs.
yo man that place is for music legends and french royalty so he deserves to be there besides LA is not safe for a guitar as great as him hell probably be dug up and stolen within the first week or night also he died in France so it makes sense to be buried there
easy said then dome my friend but fiving a Rock and Rock grave yard where all Music Legends like Jim, Freddy Murcary(?), Elvis, Johnny Cash can all rest in please and people can go their to pay their repects

so they went to see jims grave. it took 8.22 to find a gravestone. Is this supposed to be worth watching. Hey I got one of a friend doing the washing up. that one takes 6 mins.
The bust was either stolen or removed after it became so damaged from people breaking off pieces of it for souvenirs. I understand the close the cemetery down now on Jim's birthday and or the anniversary of his death because of the tourists ruining the cemetery, leaving trash etc. You've got to remember this cemetery was build in Napoleon's time and is a national treasure. I'm sure were forced to put the barricades around the area which is sad but I understand why they had to do it.
