I love how you've done things. Two 1541 drives, one for the PC and the other for the 64. Very efficient and time saving. No cable switching. Very useful for people who love their Commodores. I wonder if Apple II users have a similar device?
I'll try to buy another drive at ebay, my doubt is whether I should buy another 1541 or 1541-II?! ... maybe I'll opt for the 1541-II as well when I get some spare parts or is the 1st version of 1541 are more reliable?
When I turn on the drive not hear anything, not even the engine just turns the LEDs on.
I'm not sure but I think the problem is in the power supply, because I was measuring the power supply with a multimeter and the pin 1 has 5V and the 4 pin only 7V when it should have 12V.
What do you think the problem is in the power suply or is the drive?
@Naparovitse Sounds like the PSU... pin 4 should have 12 volts going to it... I tested my 1541-II drives PSU and it tested at: pin 1- 5 volts, and pin 4-12.5 volts... sounds like your PSU might have a bad capacitor or two... if your electronically inclined you might open it up and see, but if your not I would just get one off of Ebay... Bad thing is, once the PSU fails on a 1541-II, it usually damages the drive also because it lacks the fuse the old 1541 had...
After a hard work to assemble the XM1541 there could put the cable to work (I used the software Starcommander), unfortunately after having copied a game to disk can not put starcommander to communicate again with the drive 1541 II ... LEDs of "Power" and "Drive" are constantly lit.
Also I have already connected the drive to C64 and is forever seeking information from floppy ... also with both LEDs lit
@Naparovitse I belive you have to boot your computer with the 1541 drive attached and turned on for your computer to recognize the 1541 drive. At least I do on my computer. If I just turn the drive on while the computer is on, the drive just seeks (lights on) and does nothing else... I would give that a shot... Sorry I took so long to get back with ya...
I freaking love this. Cool week guy!

Hi,
After my suspicions ... it is confirmed that after all was always the power supply that was broken.
Pin 4 not they provide enough volts ... which are the 12V which would be required.
By connecting the 1541-II drive to the power supply of my Pentium 150Mhz the drive worked properly (12V and 5V)
I was lucky .... phew... thank goodness ;)
