  • @dragonsword343 haha of course not :) I just love Whitacre's music and would love to see a Disney movie with it in it

  • This definitely lulled me gently and gracefully to sleep...if you count crying myself to sleep out of sheer beauty...

  • @Widgeripoo, It was supposed to be for a Dreamworks movie, but they made Kung Fu Panda instead.

  • this reminds me of titanic well the sound of it anyway we are singing this in my choir too

  • Sang this, it's the second prettiest thing in the world. Not to offend anyone, Fields of Gold will always have my nostalgic bias.

  • singing this in choir :)

  • Oooh! We did this at choir camp last year! It was our favorite song.

  • So, so beautiful <3

  • We're singing this one in the VMC this Christmas. All-male arrangement, so pretty.

  • I have to sing this for Region and it sounds soo pretty with all of the parts!!! xD

  • My chior teaccher knows Eric Whitacer in person.....it's AWESOME!!!!!!!! I'm pretty sure he's one of the judges for region chior this year :3 im trying out. This is one of the songs we have to hear...:D it's SOOOOOOO PRETTYYYYYY~~!!!!!!!!! <3 <3

  • Let's hope Dreamworks get the message and animate this too! So much better than the Kung Fu Panda effort!

  • i have this song for all state this yr these kids r very talented & so good keep up the good work!(:

  • wow this is amazing! I have to sing this for region this year and im pretty stoked.

  • @CerLikeWoahh24 same here! goodluck!

  • Your pianist is so great! And the guy at 1:31 is SUPER cute! What are their names? :)

  • Yes, it's a shame. I am a big Disney fan, and friend of one-time Disney producer David Hand's son. They would have done an excelleny job. maybe not yet too late?

  • This song just makes me feel so calm and at peace, as if I AM that baby seal being lulled to sleep in my sandy bed. Softly being assured that no harm shall befall me as a sleep. This song is just so graceful and peaceful. I love it.

  • I was in the Chamber choir at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp this summer, and we sang this song. I was an Alto. I love this song dearly

  • i NEED to learn this on piano sooooo bad. Can someone please send me a link or something to the music for this?? Please, I'll do ANYTHING<333333

  • @LyssiiBabi I am playing piano and organ for a friend's wedding soon, and he requested this for the Processional... original thought if nothing else!! Beautiful piece though, and he obtained for me the music from Chester Music in Suffolk, UK. I suggest Googling for their website, as I just got an error message for trying to include it here.

    Hope this helps!

  • they look so dead...lol but the tenors and basses blend amazingly well together

  • Is it me..? or are the basses always the slackers? i am one but yea.. haa

  • 1:30

Love Mr. Swivel on the right. Watched him for the rest of the video.

  • This sent shivers down my spine... Wow. Thank you. <3

  • 1 person doesn't have a baby seal to sing a lullaby to.

  • @leumasffirehs beautiful, but not one of whitacre's best. I'm a little curious to how it sounds as an SSAA piece. seeing as how its TMEA, we'll nail it. :)

  • @GGoedecke1014 our choir teacher had us practice it as an SSA piece. it was an amazingly pretty song

  • All state Texas 2011-2012 audition piece :) heck yes....beautiful song

  • So beautiful...my choir is singing this song

    !

  • Love, love, love this song. ;u; Singing it in choir. It's absolutely beautiful. SOPRANOSOPRANOSOPRANO♥

  • this song is really god. im in a choir right now that is singing this and it really is lovelyy♥

  • this song is really god. im in a choir right now that is singing this and it really is lovelyy♥

  • My chorus preformed the SSA version with Eric Whitacre last year.

You guys sounded great. I like it with the guys (since I preformed with all girls lol)

  • I'm an alto I and we performed this a few weeks ago. :D I love it.

  • Gooooooo TENORS! We're performing this piece in my 'chorale union'. Beautiful music. Emotional. Well done.

  • It's beautiful!

I like this song and my choir will sing it for our annual concert this June....

  • Bass twos! Are very much awesome.

  • The alto part is so unique and difficult but very beautiful.

  • I don't know if it's the music and chordal structure or the visual I get in my head, but every time I hear this or accompany it, I tear up. So moving.

  • ok im a tenor and i freakin did the bass 2 for this song so all of you can shut up. :P

  • Am I correct in believing this was originally written for a Disney animated movie that was never made? It certainly has a 'disney-esque' feel about it.

  • @Widgeripoo You are correct :)

  • @Widgeripoo yes that is true

  • @Widgeripoo yes it was

  • @Widgeripoo . I did this in an all county chorus last year, it was a beautifully made piece for a disney movie, unfortunately, the movie with good moral values and lessons was overlooked, and instead kung-fu panda was made... too bad, this definitely is a gorgeous piece of music.

  • @Widgeripoo yes, you are correct.

  • @Widgeripoo Dreamworks was going to make an animated version of Rudyard Kipling's The Seal Lullaby. Instead they decided to make Kung Fu Panda.

  • @mohopgold4747 um fail.

  • @Widgeripoo If it was, Disney was retarded for not putting it in one of them.

  • @Widgeripoo It was, they chose Kung Fu Panda instead, no joke.

  • @lovebabigurlftw I was like "gotta be kidding me, you rejected this beautiful song from ERIC WHITACRE for KUNG FU PANDA" T_T I mean dont get me wrong, Kung Fu Panda isnt bad but still....just to see such an amazing arrangement on a disney movie wouldve made me squeal >.<

  • @Widgeripoo : yup it was.

We sang this in choir last year- it was supposed to be for a Disney movie, but they ended up making Kung Fu Panda instead of the movie that would've had this song :(

  • @herroyalmajesty8 should this make us then hate kung fu panda o__O ?

  • I love this song, and these guys sang it beautifuly :] My only critiques: lacks emotion, bad vowels (especiallly "ohw hUHsh theeee mai baybee" and "uhv thuh slohw swinging seeees") as opposed to tall vowels.

  • Hah, DHS CC is learning this at the moment. Listening to this gives me some hope for the bass section.

Also, with all of the voice-part debate, I'm gonna say B1/Baritone just to be different. Plus, I'm one, and an epic one at that.

  • wadup altos

  • FDHS is doing this piece tomorrow for Concert Festival. I'm pretty excited

  • @MetalFanDonnie We got a superior :D

  • very pretty (: BHS concert choral is singing this at our spring concert (: i hope we can sound this great! :D

  • Sounded good but your facial expressions were boring. Also, you slid on the last "thee arms" you sang. Other than that you sounded pretty good.

  • Does that dude on the right have to go to the bathroom or something? Come on, man. It's a three minute song. SIT FUCKING STILL

  • sounds good. But need to have more enthusiasm during the song.

  • i love the bass line and this song when you listen to it it is like being in a boat and feeling the waves .and very soothing.

  • The reason that the altos are being "overpowered" is that Altos don't exist. Anyway, great song which I sang last year in my school Chorale. It's really cool because my teacher went to school with Mr. Whitacre. My favorite part of the song is "Where billow meets billow..." but it's probably just personal bias because I'm a Bass XD.

  • @Khalony What do you mean, altos don't exist? There's an alto part in this song. I'd know, seeing as I'm an alto in my chorale, and it's not that hard to pick out the alto part when you know what you're listening for, what you're singing, just as I'd assume you'd be familiar with the bass part...

  • im sorry but the one dislike was probably by some one who just wanted to be awkward because this is amazing

  • The best part was learning it on sealables.

  • I have actually listened to this like, fifty times in the past week.

  • Tenors ftw.

  • @doranduh hell yeah:D

  • The choir seems sort of out of sync with each other. I sang this song..

And the altos are being overpowered by the sopranos..

Other than that it is awesome!

  • @Megzy7 That's so interesting because my choir has the opposite problem; our altos overpower the sopranos. I think this song is really hard to acheive perfect balance on.

  • @MrHomerun2325 :o woah, that's a super smart comment.

  • Sounds like an anthem to an epic movie or adventure or something.

  • (: my chorus is doing this song, so beautiful. im going to sing this song to my children when i have them <3 apparently whitacre who sing this song to his son and it would work 50% of the time lol (:

  • Alto part is so fun on this song. This choir sounds fantastic. Great job. :)

  • Warning !!

Warranty is void if seal is broken !!!

  • Stunnung <3

  • can't wait to sing the TTBB arrangement

  • this is beautiful! we are singing this song, and hopefully it will sound somewhat as good as this!

  • i sang this for the soprano part ! its a really good song ! (: n touching

  • Just lovely.

  • I also sang the alto part in this song....its fun to sing....gives u goosebumps

  • there is one dislike...

  • what movie was this supposed to be made for?

  • @crazitaco originally this song was sappose to go with an animation movie about a sealion, but when the company who was making the moive didn't reply, the composer called them one day to ask if they didn't like his song, and the person on the line told him that they decided to make "Kung FU Panda" instead.

  • this is THE BEST eric whitacre song i have EVER heard!! im so gonna sing this song to my kids :) my choir and i just got this song and we are hopefully gonna sing it for our spring concert!!

  • Loved this song when I did it last year in my Concert Chorale and I still love it. It was difficult to learn but it ended up beautifully though I think the one here is probably better. Also, not that I didn't like the movie but, Damn you Kung Fu Panda! In case you don't know, this song was made for a movie but ended up not being used because they changed the movie to Kung Fu Panda. I really wish I could have seen a movie with this song in it.

  • I had 2 sing this song in ma choir and its a hard song to learn

  • I love Eric Whitacre. His music is the most hauntingly beautiful piece of art I have ever heard. <3

  • love this song I found this cause I'm learning it in chorus and its so sweet and heart warming and my mom loves it cause she loves the sounds of the ocean when its calm and this song reminds her of it like that ^^

  • Nice piano at this church, sweetly played by Skyler.

  • ya know what's great? harpooned baby seals

    -thrown violently at Eric Whitacre

  • @xxxxcensoredxxx Warning !!

Warranty is void if seal is broken !!!

  • @71259mark haha, nice one dude

  • My choir is supposed to be singing this, but talent is lacking. I sang Lux Aurumque for a national touring honor choir and that was beautiful!

  • So happy to be singing this BEAUTIFUL song for the Honor Choir this year it is soo beautiful and i just want to cry every time i sing it <3

  • This is my church!

It is also where I went to pre-k lol

and my choir performs here sometimes

  • When the basses sing "Where billow meets billow (etc.)" the they say sof-ck, or something like that? Ahaha.

  • @JudeXStar "Where billow meets billow there soft be thy pillow."

  • We are doing this song, i lovve it! amazingly done

  • I really wasn't sure in choir class if I liked this song, because we learned it in sectionals and the alto part doesn't sound that good on its own. But after hearing this, I can't wait to put it together :)

  • we did this last year in chorus it was awesome!

  • when i first heard this song in chorus, i felt my eyes getting teary. good job to the singers. the did phenomenal.

  • Im doing this in chorus!!

  • Wauw, I'm learning this song in the choir of my school and I really like it ! so pretty :) although the alto part you cannot really hear well i think and thats the part i need to do.. anyways, ill sing a bit louder aha :D

  • 1st sapranos all the way!!!!!!!! yea

  • @sHeLbZtheCLOGGER NU HU!! ALTOS KICK BUTTOX!

  • @sHeLbZtheCLOGGER: Actually, both first and second sopranos are equal in this piece.

  • @sHeLbZtheCLOGGER Basses for life, and i win cause i said it 4 octaves lower than you can :)

  • @CPHST90 hahahahahaha when i read that i thought it was super funny soi pretty much laughed for 5 minutes.. but its no big deal :)

  • This is absolutely beautiful. The basses in this are phenomenal.

  • we sing this song too.

it makes my eyes watery ö

  • awww... my high school choir recorded the version of this that is on itunes.

You guys did such an awesome job! Yay for the basses! ^_^

  • This is by far my favorite song I've ever sung in choir. It's the most beautiful song I know.

  • SING IT ALTOS!

  • im playing this in marching band

  • The alto part on this song is astounding. I love singing it.

  • That was a really good performance! Lovely tone and...stuff. Any advice...just do what you're doing, but even more. I think the oohs at the beginning and end are meant to be waves breaking, so really go for the crescendos and diminuendos. But this is perfectionism. It was great.

    True

  • This song won us the San Diego Heritage Festival. :D It's definitely my favorite choral piece of all time. Frank Ticheli's Earth Song is a close second.

God, Eric Whitacre is a genious.

  • It a haunting sound but so joyful at the same time. Wonder how long he spent on it, or if it just came to him...

  • That was so beautiful! Made me cry.

  • @mradaChris It makes me cry too lol

  • WOW! I heard this song when our school's Vocal Ensemble sang it and I fell in looooveee. You guys are amazing! (:

  • i love the Soprano part!! cause I'm a soprano!! sang this for the 2010 choral fest!

  • @jennifer270995 what kind of choral fest? i sang in the oregon bach festival PICCFEST.

  • @ListeninMusicMake mine was the Malaysian Choral Fest. MCE.

  • I sang this for a choral festival. I amazing bass line:D

  • @4ivIV heys, i went for choral fest too =)

  • @4ivIV agreed, the bass part just gives this song the "warmth"

  • we are doing this in a concert next week in our school, it's an extremely beautiful piece

  • Comment removed

  • the arrangement of this for band is almost as beautiful as the choral version

  • @liberonumero3 Oh, thank you! Now that I think about it, that does seem to make more sense. This is excellent proof of why accounts are so onderful on You-Tube!

    Again, thank you X 1,000! :-)

  • Our choir director has decided to have us sing this song and I am really excited to work with it! I love being a soprano! Hey, does anyone know if the parts are soprano, 2nd soprano, & alto, or soprano, 2nd soprano, & tenor? The low part seems lower than alto. Maybe that's just me. Anyway, great performance!

  • I love fried chicken.

  • Wow...I'm no pro in but some of my past choral instucters have been really hard about the classes posture There composure is actually scaring me. At 57:00 sec the guy on the farthest right is swinging like a draddle. ):

  • I love this song!

  • I am proud to say that my high school is playing this at the 2010 Midwest clinic. Can not wait!

  • @drumzbrotha85 billy ryan

  • no here is a good one!!!! finaly mature sound and emotion!!!!

  • MY SCHOOL DID THIS

  • @ROCKINSHOW23 Mine, too(: This song is beautiful!

  • @ROCKINSHOW23

    I love you

  • MY SCHOOL DID THIS

  • I'm singing the alto part of this in my school's choir, and I love it. :)

  • our high school is singing this song.. its so awesome

  • the choir im in is doing this song its super pretty sounding!!

im in the womens choir so it sounds a little differnet than with guys in it

its really hard though were only in the middle of it but yeah

  • We are doing this song in my choir, and I love its simplicity and the piano accompaniment. However, the alto part is a bitch to learn/sing.

  • This piece is so beautiful, our school band is gonna play an orchestrated version of it, written for band, but just listening to the choirs part and the piano, I knew it was going to be great and beautiful, good job guys, I love it =) it warmed my heart! ^^

  • we are doing this its so pretty!!!

  • I cry everytime I hear this song. The varsity choir at my high school performed this at our Choir Tour. We won gold. :-)

  • o: im playing this song..inchorus ;D and im an alto..i <3 it so much

  • I love this song so much. we did it in our choir <3

  • singing this w my choir...the soprano part is gorgeous. cant beleive they didnt produce it in the disney movie

  • I am usually an alto, and sometimes it can get frustrating because of the difficulty of the parts, but I adore the alto part on here so tremendously much. It's so gorgeous.

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs around, wish there were more like it

  • great song, bad recording

  • Im learning this in choir now. Its a beautiful song

  • me too lol its kinda of hard to me

  • This is my ABSOLUTE favorite song EVER

  • same with mine but i only know the oooo parts thats how far we have gotten in choir lol oh you should check out the song Awake if you think this is you fave song its amazing!!!

  • The story behind this song makes me laugh. Whitacre gave this to Disney for a movie and they never called him back. Finally he called and they were like "Ummm... we decided to do Kung Fu Panda instead."

  • @jrmdawg LMAO i JUST read that on the back of the sheet of music for this song yesterday bahahaha

  • @jrmdawg lol i read that on the inside cover of the piece.

  • @jrmdawg Seriously? lololololol Awww, Whitacre in a Disney movie would have made my LIFE! =] Oh well, it's still a beautiful song.

  • @jrmdawg kung fu panda was released by dreamworks..
