honestly i hope mthey get the death penalty, caus ei heard some people died in the fires. if they're found gulty, anything less than the death penatly'd be a joke.

Hi & thanks for stopping by! I agree they should get life, if that is all we can do! Yes as of today there are 1800 homes gone, and 189 people confirmed dead! They are however expecting the death toll to rise, and say that some bodies will never be found! One arsonist has veen caught and arrested already, and if he is guilty he is reponsible for as many as 21 of those deaths!

i think i just heard, not too long ago that the death toll is up to 200 or more. it reallly upsets me taht all these lives were taken by some sick evil person. i honestly think anyhitng less then the death penalty'd be too soft. i don't see any way you justify killing so many poeple in such a way like with fire.

Yeah the toll is over 200 now, and expected to rise substantially in the upcoming weeks. Forensics are still working the crime scenes. ,I agree with you about the death penalty, but I know that won't happen. The way his lawyers will justify the loss of life, property damage, and general carnage, is that the moron is psychologically impaired. I think it is inevitable that he will see life inside. The only thing is that he may spend most of it in a padded cell somewhere.

then i think it'd be real justice if here to be killed in prison then, like if that low like got his sorry self shanked or something. this guy deserves to die for waht he's done if he's the one who did it. if the courts won't have the stomes to do it the n i say let some prisoner do it, or if someone got him on the streets. now i understand what the punisher meant about the inadiqucy of the law,and natrual justice, and punishment. i won't apologize for felling that way, but it's how i feel.

Totally agree! I know two things, and (1) is that he will be under SERIOUS threat if he ends up in jail, as long as they keep him in the general prison population, and (2) He is not saying he is not guilty, nor are his lawyers, so that would indicate he will be found guilty! The only uncertainty is whether a judge will say he needs to be in a hospital or prison.

There are now 208 dead as of today!!

This is the first time I have seen so many people (affected victims) wish someone DEAD!

what really pisses me off is how jsut cause of some legal technicallity, bullshit the so called "justice system", this guy's life will be spared. and the fact that so many young children were killed. that alone is reason for the arsonist to die for what he's done. if it'r up to me i'd kill the evil fucking arsonist the same way he killed all those people. set his ass on fore,and let's see how he likes it.

The thing that annoys me is that over time it is us (society) that allows and approves the lawmakers to pass these laws, and most of them are based on what the "feeling friendly" people want! In countries like Saudi Arabia and others, they take your hand off for stealing, and the crime rate is almost zero.

We have laws that allow a rapist to be in the community within 3-5 years and as in the case of this mongrel, we have the sanity clause.

I believe setting him on fire would be too quick!

So many people and animals have been affected by this, and it is those of us that remain, who can try to do something to stamp this rediculous behaviour out of our society.

These things show us the worst and the best of humans at the same time. There is the person who caused all these horrible things and yet you also see all those people that are trying to help...

I think the person that caused this does not have a human mind at all. This act is so cruel and useless. There is no appropriate punishment at all.

Hi there my friend! thanks for watching, and for your comments. I agree that there is no appropriate punishment. Of course what they are saying (officially) is that 25 years in jail at the taxpayers expense, is the expected punishment.

The support within the communities is overwhelming when you see first hand what they have to deal with, and I am amazed each time I see it.

Absolutely heartbreaking to watch. We all stayed up last night and watched the telethon. Everytime we hear a loud noise I panic and wonder if the wind is changing and its moving to our way. Its really scary here.

I feel for the victims and for the animals too! It was so sad to see the poor animals trapped and unable to escape. I sometimes wonder if these tragedies are a way for us all to come together....

The telethon was excellent! What a lot of support they received, and I just loved the spirit is conjoured in the Whittlesea area.

It is so sad to think that there are people in this world who "get off" on things like this.

Hey there RB... Shocking isnt it!! It has only been the last couple of days that I really comprehended the devastation. Some of these fires are only half ab hour from me, and there are still almost 20 burning out of control!

Man, I can understand the "passing judgment" thing, and I too would have said the same, but its strange what happens to those morals when you understand the closeness of things. I watch the people directly affected, and hear what they are saying. They want revenge.
