So they accepted " a person who brings peace" for peaceful things, yet they nailed him on "things you decorate" for kinds of decorations... no wonder the show tanked!
@erikdraven1731 It's not really the same, though, if you think about it. If the category were in fact "Things you decorate," you wouldn't say "garland" or "tinsel" because you don't decorate them, rather, you decorate with them. If he had said "Things with which you decorate," the judges likely would have accepted it.
@engrish2006 I don't want to sound arrogant, but I have another episode on VHS with that category and the contestant did say "things you decorate with" and the judges didn't accept it. It is actually kind of pathetic, when you look at how the judging was back in Dick Clark's era. It was almost as bad as the time the judge thought he/she knew more about grammar and what a prepositional phrase is than an English professor.
@erikdraven1731 But I do agree with your initial statement, though. Had it been in reverse, it definitely wouldn't have been accepted... at least in the world of Donnymid.
Once again, Donnymid's ridiculous standards for answers rears its ugly head... right when I said in the last video that the contestant got off easy due to the holiday spirit.
Any Pyramid player (and celebrity) worth their salt would have argued that BS call straight through to the credits. I hate to have to think whether they pulled this kind of mess in their tournaments.
Except that he got to the bonus round when they accepted "a bunch of goose" as a clue for "geese." It was the other contestant that got shafted by not having a shot at the WInners Circle.
debra jo is great at this game!
