He said that Keynesian economics is outdated, that it can't work if there's a high national debt or if there's a global economy. He said that just printing money and spending it will devalue the dollar against foreign currencies. He said a lot of other stuff that I didn't really understand, but that was the gist of it. Anyway, he predicted that the stimulus won't do much.

You mention Katrina. I was in Europe when Katrina hit and I was subject to CNN Europe and The BBC. It seemed that both of those networks did everything they could do to blame President Bush. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says that the stimulus package will actually make things worse by increasing the national debt. It won't do anything for the economy. He said that Keynesian economics is outdated, that it can't work if there's a high national debt or if there's a global economy. He said that just printing money and spending it will devalue the dollar against foreign currencies. He said a lot of other stuff that I didn't really understand, but that was the gist of it. Anyway, he predicted that the stimulus won't do much.

This isn't a STIMULUS package - it's a DISASTER. Economists estimate 12% stimulus, and 88% pork. Even the bill promoters say that only 20% of the total will be spent by 2010.
People are starting to see what a colossally bloated piece of garbage this bill is. I was going through the line-item breakdown and it's got NOTHING to do with stimulus - and everything to do with building new programs... programs that will need to be funded NEXT year and the year after that, and so on. It's horrible!!!

Dianne Feinstein said that she might not vote for Obama's bill, and she's an influential Democrat. Now I disagree with Ron Paul on many issues, but I like his idea of slashing taxes as well as federal spending, although I realize that his plan will never happen. If taxes were cut by a large amount, it would make a difference. I also support SOME spending on infrastructure, but no pork.

You mention Katrina. I was in Europe when Katrina hit and I was subject to CNN Europe and The BBC. It seemed that both of those networks did everything they could do to blame President Bush. They found everyone that they could find that had negative things to say. Things in New Orleans were messed up, but the blame can be spread around to Ray Nagen, the Governor of Lousianna as well. Let's face it, CNN and the BBC were not looking to blame any one, except Bush, or at al least appear that way.
