I was 5 days old when this was recorded... I still remember the day he passed. I was sitting in front of the TV coloring, when they broke in, I think it was David Brinkly, next thing I know, my Dad was out of the door telling our neighbors... Years later I remember seeing an impersonator at Pinellas Square Mall and the crowd went crazy for this guy who wasn't Elvis, but gave them what they wanted. My Dad told me how he saw him in concert in Tampa in 1970 and I wish I could have... What a man...
i'm not gonna lie, this is a great version of the song, and elvis is an amazing singer, but i prefer the jim nabors version better. but this is an INCREDABLY close second.
He will always be the best, the King of rock and roll , in my heart I enjoy his music as much if not more than when i was a teenager yelling at his concerts!!.
Elvis is Living His greatest Life right now on Streets of pure Gold. He is still singing with some of the Greatest Singers in the World. Angels stand amaze at the Amazing Singing choir. Glory, Glory , Glory. Can't you just Hear them?
I think of Elvis as he might have been in the future...... Finally realizing that he could stop the unceasing one-nighters and not have the fans lose their love of him. Then I saw him resting, renewing his health, turning his new found epiphany into a dynamic future maybe involving movies, television and only an occasional tour. Yes, that would have been great to see.
REMEMBER THERE ARE NO IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS , EVEN WHEN PEOPLE CONDEMN , CRITIZE, AND TRY TO GET YOU DOWN, YOUR DREAMS TO EXCEL ARE ATTAINABLE , THROUGH DREAMS AND GODS HELP YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL NO MATTER WHAT THE WORLD SAYS.
Man, this is just Awesome....I just re-watched, Mel Gibson's movie, "The Passion of THE Christ"...and this song, was written about Jesus..but fits Elvis as well...TY for sharing...10 stars+
Surprised to see you haven't had an answer in 6 moths but Elvis says...."Thank you very much! We'd like to do our version of the Impossible Dream".
A great version of a song that quite a few artists are attempting to sing these days but they never end it like Elvis does. OK I know the final note is probably a backing singer but hey!... WTF!
Holy Fucking shit balls! (pardon my french) but it was my reaction when I saw this, Elvis doing a song that is written for a play on broadway and do it better than anyone on broadway! ok he is the King and this just proves it.
If anyone is looking for a GREAT Elvis impersonator look no further!!!!! Shawn Klush, The best !!his voise, his heart, his soul,. The best, The best. Great family man!! Elvis would be proud.
When my Dad died and having known of this song I found this song was the only song that covered all I could have said. This man performed this song and most others better than any other have.
Thank you for this beautiful awesome video from this wounderful, beautiful and awesome man. Not only did he dream the Impossible Dream he achieved and conwuered it a 1000 times over and surpassed it. He was one in a trillion. He always hold a special place in my heart and I wilol forever love, respect and admire him. Thank you so much again. God Bless and Take Care
Oi Galo. Muito tempo depois descobri que ele dizia "Elvis has left the building, thank you and good night". Obrigado mais uma vez e um bom 2010.
@Galoport OdairFernandes no problemo with your poor English. Before he starts singing, he says, "Excuse ladies and gentleman, I just broke wind, I'd like to ask the members of my group to hold their breath before we go any further"
@Galoport TO DREAM THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, TO BEAT THE UNBEATABLE FOE/ TO BEAR WITH UN BEARBEARABLE SORROW TO RUNWHERE THE BRAVES DARE NOT GO: TO WRITE THE UNWRTABLE WRONG/ TO TRY WHEN YOUR EYES ARE TOO WEARY/ TO REACH THE UNREACHABLE STAR
i prefer this to the master, the live vegas version.like i re-iteraed, in many aspects he grew as a performer over the 70s. certain versions of songs became much better, i prefer the 73 ending he gave to american trilogy over the 72 master take for example. also songs like how great thou art, were much better in 77 than back in 72. also bridge over troubled water in 72 imo is better than his 70 renditions, he altered the phrasing and the more he performed certain songs the better they became.
im not saying he wasnt great at all loool! im just sayng of when he was at his very very best! i mean when you are fan of Elvis Presley you are a perfectionist, and im just saying when he was in perfect form. but as for his live shows, on the whole, it is fair to say he peaked in a sense, but in many ways he grew as a performer as the 70s grew on, but overall i think its undeniable that Elvis 1970 show is going to be better than an Elvis 1977 show.
fantastic. thanks for sharing this. shame this wasn't professionally filmed - should have been a tv special on the MSG shows, i think by the time of aloha from hawaii, he was getting past his peak in stage shows.
