  • @JazzCapacitor or alright cool thanks. Do you find that transcribing these makes you a better soloist?

  • @maiaihii1 Yes and it's made me a better accompanist. Transcribing entire solos or even just bits here and there are helpful to inspire new ideas or language. Writing out my own solo ideas has helped too. What has helped the most is actually playing along with the recordings of the greats. There's always something to study and check out.

  • @JazzCapacitor Hahaha I know what key a Tenor is in just saying that's gotta be an octave down from where it should be, so it seems like it was written out for trumpet.

  • @maiaihii1 If you're referring to the choice of octave written in concert key it is for one simple reason: easier to read (less ledger lines). Nothing intended for trumpet. Just easier to read for all instruments (guitar, piano, etc.) Nice observation btw!

  • Why is written for trumpet?

  • @maiaihii1 The Tenor Sax is a Bb instrument. I usually write out the scores in concert key as seen here.

  • @maiaihii1 There is a tenor part on the website for free download

  • very well done!!!
