i'm native from north sask reminds me of gramps his cousin was in war 2 for us all dont like haters we are all together and i bet theyl tell you the same them old chaps learn from there sacrifice that they went though , man it must of been tough
I LOVE the cows with this song. There's nothing like chickens & cows to take ya back to the good ol'days of HOME SWEET HOME!! Especially when you top it off with Eddie Arnold. I used to watch him on TV at the Grand Ol'Opree, and this was my favorite song of his. There was nothing like growing up in the 50s :)
im related to him. so i looked him up on here. (SNIFF) his songs r gr8......but when he died, his songs died with him. RIP Eddy Arnold......u will b missed so much! (SNIFF) (SNIFF)
I started hearing Eddy on the Grand Ole Opry in the late 40's, singing "Cattle Call" . Of course Hugo Winterhalter was not playing behind him, but just an old fiddle and guitar. He always opened the show on Saturday night. Eddy was incomparable.
Visit the website Hearthstone Interior Design and read the article under Press about Little Roy Wiggins and his son to learn how Eddy,Little Roy,and Mini Pearl .
Did you Know that Eddy Arnold along with Little Roy Wiggins Sold 75,000,000 records. The highest records sold in the 20th century.Visit Little Roy Recording of The Old Rugged Cross
I started buying Eddy;s music when I was 5. I also watched his TV show, but my mom said she had to turn the tv off, because when the show was over, he walked out the door and waved good-by. I would start bawling! I finally saw Eddy in person after 40 years of listening to him.I will never forget that day. When they started selling the tickets I was in line at 6am. Finally at 9 they opened the window. I said to the lady, "give me the best seat in the house" I got seat 17 in the 1st row!
I don't know about cowboys herding dairy cows, but I used to walk out to our pasture and yodel to our Guernseys to call them up. It was the only place the folks would let me yodel . . . but the cows didn't mind. They knew it was milking time and chow time. LOL.
This song brings back memories. My parents used to play Eddie Arnold all the time back in the 70's and I have not heard this song in about 25 years. Thanks for posting this, This is just bringing back floods of memories. I just realized after looking on the internet, that Eddie Arnold passed away last May of 2008. I am so sorry to hear that.
I love this listening to this when on road trip through rural areas.
Funny use of this song in cinema setting was in Nurse Betty as Morgan Freeman's character is standing by edge of Grand Canyon at night and Chris Rock is sitting in car. They're both hit man hired to find Rene Zellwegger.
One of the all time voices just returned to his maker. Thanks for all of your songs and your beautiful voice, I am sure your songs will live forever!!!
Eddy Arnold was (is?) the rare country singer with a mellow voice sweet enough to cross music genres and sell to people who normally wouldn't be caught dead listening to a country station. Lots of very good music from this guy. Wish him well.
I am 64 years old. This is the first song I can remember my daddy listening to on the Sears "SILVERTONE" radio in (I believe)1949. I have always liked it and all of Eddy Arnold's songs.
Hey, OIB, nice to know I'm not alone (I'm 65). Ditto listening in while Dad was tuning in on a radio that was bigger than I was. Even with static, this song really appealed to me and got me turned on to country singers. Still like country and Eddy, although have transitioned to other genres!
Yes, Slim Whitman did have a version of the song. So did Buck, The Big Man, Tex Owens, Tex Williams, Wilf Carter (Montana Slim) and Leann Rimes sang it with Eddy Arnold.

Love the music, the scenery is to die for.
Am I the only one that noticed this is a bunch of yearling heifers on a dairy farm, back east somewhere, Wisconsin maybe?
