@Superchocolatedonut I watched the video of him playing drums for the first time since back surgery and he's still got it, just has to get up to speed. He uses complete "sling" or wrist action, his sticks are bouncing on each hit almost, where I put muscle into it/do fills by HITTING the shells. Pete is one of my favorite drummers though, I think that his technique would be harder to master than putting force into it, honestly. blastbeat on God of The Forsaken at 1:54, my favorite blast ever!

It's a very fast, punchy, and 'angry' piece with tons of notes filled in. Maybe that's something 'he' is trying to portray. The fact that he can do so with such precision is pretty incredible especially with that many notes at such a tempo. I'm still curious if this actually is someone drumming, because it actually feels 'too' fast. lol

I think that metal style is a great style where drummers can express themselves, be musically creatives. Tecnique is only a tenth part of the drumming.

Derek is faster, more accurate, more technical and the solo is much cleaner. and i don't think i've ever seen a drummer who does what he does and look so calm while playing. in my opinion, hes the best drummer of my generation.

@jtuft22 triggers are just things you just clamp onto a drum, connect to a module, and a speaker. it feels the hits on the drum, so the hits get sent through the module and speaker. the module is used to change the sound of the drum. just think of it as an electronic drumset. triggers are for people who are too lazy to tune their drums inbetween songs lol

Triggers arn't really cheating but there are people who like to put their beaters 1cm from their head and get really fast little hits which have fuck all power (sound) but the triggering gives it sound, that isn't real double bass, so basically tapping is for noobs.
