This is silly. Calling Trudeau overrated is laughable, considering his historical achievements: the charter alone is accomplishment enough. You can criticize those achievements, but saying he's "overrated" suggests he did not accomplish much. A bit of a stretch.
why are so many ppl against socialism,i think its because when ppl look at socialism, they see hitler, but they fail to see hitler as a great leader(although he was a horrible man and did many unspeakable crimes against jews and gays that i totally disagree with) socialism makes the gap between the rich and the poor smaller, gets better health care and schooling and helps people stay above poverty,i honestly fear canada is turning into capitalist america and if it does im moveing to cuba
@TheTnuggs nazis were more towards fascism than socialism but other than that you're right, not to mention hitler killed more than just jews and homosexuals. I think moving to Venezuela or somewhere in Europe would be a little better
@theycallhimsimon yes, Canada has been better off since the mid 1990s than at anytime during Trudeau's time. You say I am from western Canada. Canada before Trudeau didnt have reglionalism. it was Trudeau who pit regions of the country against one another. Youre exhibiting a negative trait from Trudeau's time and dont even know it
@theycallhimsimon Trudeau ruined Canada's economy. By 1990, Canada was an economic basketcase. It was Chretien and Martin that finally set Canada's economy right by cutting taxes and cutting spending
@gaguy1967 - Bwa ha ha. You think Trudeau ruined Canada's economy? Oh, boo hoo. Sorry, but I disagree. The Trudeau years Canadians were at their economic peak. It was when he left office that major recessions started, that more Canadians were unemployed, living below the poverty line, etc. The fact is that Trudeau united Canadians and made Canada a more sovereign nation, a task impossible to all other PMs we've had.
@BayviewFinch Trudeau economics ruined Canada. Canada's economic peak has been the past 10 years when both Liberals and Conservatives threw off Trudeau's socialism. Trudeau didnt united Canadians. Hit pit east versus west and everyone against Quebec.
@gaguy1967 - He gave us sovereignty. You should be praying to him, not blabbing about "socialism" like an American. He promoted programmes for youth so that they would see more of their country. He was all about breaking down boundaries, creating a Canada for Canadians. Anyway, he did more for his country than you ever will. You will never be remembered. You won't go down in history.
@BayviewFinch Canada was already soverign in 1968, when Trudeau came to power an d had been for 100 years. Trudeau created boundaries and pitted parts of the country against one another. Martin and Harper are Canada's best PMs.
I would like to point out that "Americans" includes Canada, cenral and South America. I can only assume that your use of the term Amrican means the country without a name, the U. S. of America. So, if we understand he didn't include the Americans, well then he discluded Us in Canada!?? I suggest we have a contest to name that area between Mexico and Canada so that there is less confusion about this matter!
@reverendnorm - The term "American" in the English language refers to citizens of the United States of America. It doesn't refer to other North or South Americans. Canadians do not consider themselves "American," but may refer to themselves as "North Americans" at times. I agree with your idea to rename that space between Canada and Mexico. Perhaps "Shithole" or "Fucktardville" or something like that.
Abortion is a fundamental right. I don't agree with it, but it is not my place to force my believes on a moral matter like that, and church and state are wise for doing the same.
As one commentator quipped, "Trudeau was such a controversial figure that probably as many Canadians would've voted him Canada's worst Canadian if they could've as did vote him the greatest." Now *that* would be an interesting contest.
Are you serious? Trudeau isn't overrated. Abortion was not legalized under Trudeau, except in hospitals where the mother's life was in danger. Second, the FLQ going to Cuba: a Prime Minister cannot "let" the FLQ escape. That jurisdiction resides in the judicial branch. Third, the NEP...Alberta's greed is the problem, not nationalizing resources. Other countries do it. The US has very protectionist industries as well.
William Lyon Mackenzie King. Well, what can I say, for a man who always spoke about the future of Canada and strengthening the community of minorities it seems so odd and contradictory how in historical texts that "immigrants" in your eyes were second class. "Lyon" to put it mildly....
Trudeau did include Quebec and Rene Levesque in the Constitution Talks...Levesque was left out of the final drafting because he would do little to compromise because he felt he was in a strong position (bc he thought he had most of the other premiers on his side)...

He was way over rated. The fact that you don't think so is a clear indication that you know nothing in regards to Trudeau.
WTF is your head? Oh, there it is, up your ass.
