Humans don't eat oil and metals, but we still kill for those resources. Also, plants still need that energy from somewhere, it might be more efficient than growing plants/animals to then eat (like we would be forced to do), but the energy still does not come out of nowhere.

One year later (in the year 2000) the crop circle mentioned at min 2:43 in the video appeared and again one year later (in 2001), the "aswer" itself appeared. I'd rather see this crop formation as a response to the 1999-Arecibo-message than to one from 1974. Cheers :-)

Several different techniques have been used by different groups of people and as those groups got better at their art.

@AnonymousQuebec81 There is so much mind pollution flooding the internet on the topic that it's hard to find the people who did it. Was a UK university who managed to duplicate everything down to the last detail. They used some kind of torch for the charged bits of iron or whatever it is they find.
In this example there is nothing amazing about the message. If a human can design the message to send then it's obvious a human can design a response.

In response; are you suggesting that because you don't know how the artists made a face in crops, you extrapolate that it MUST therefore be aliens that made it? is it not more likely they have a clever way of measuring out the design by drawing it line by line. Because it will take 25,000 years for the message to reach its intended destination of stars (and an additional 25,000 years for any reply), the Arecibo message was more a demonstration of human technological achievement than a real attempt to enter into a conversation with extraterrestrials.

@NewParadigmMail I support your opinion in parts and want to give some more information: in 1999 the Arecibo message was sent in the direction of the triangle Altair, Deneb, and Vega. One year later (in the year 2000) the crop circle mentioned at min 2:43 in the video appeared and again one year later (in 2001), the "aswer" itself appeared. I'd rather see this crop formation as a response to the 1999-Arecibo-message than to one from 1974. Cheers :-)

@MissJoy100 That's not what they say. They just like the math, it's pretty. The math is so pretty that it must have some use. So they're looking for how it relates to the physical world in useful ways. One thing you can say to make this interesting is "It's even possible that our laws of physics are reliant on these extra dimensions being a part of all space-time". Nothing approaching "has to have".
and anyone who believes aliens did these drawings needs to stop filling their head with crap.

@NewParadigmMail Faster then light nutrino was a simple miscalculation. They didn't account for relativitiy and the fact GPS satilites are spinning around the earth. Very silly mistake for people who are working with speed of light experiments.
M-theory isn't about "a 4th dimention" but is about mathamatics of shapes in 11 dimentions. It happens that you can make some cool shapes and the math relating the "faces" of these shapes is cool. That is about the long and short of it currently.

Why would the aliens know ASCII? Why would they look exactly like aliens in cheesy movies look? The Arecibe message was a 3 minute signal sent to a galaxy 25000 light years away. That means it would take about 25000 years for it to reach its target which, by the way, would have moved and wouldn't even be there anymore. How likely is it that some random alien spacecraft, assuming such things exist, would have come upon that short message?
