@talk45 Yeah, I was blown away when they played this in Tampa. Thought for sure when the piano was rolled out they were going to do Codex (which, to me at least, is a vastly inferior song).
The overall pattern adds up to 32 beats. The piano phrases the sequence 3,3,4,3,3,3,3,4,3,3 (equalling 32) and when the drums come in properly, they play half time and phrase the sequence 3,3,5,3,2 (equalling 16). You could call it 4/4 because 32 is divisble by 4, but really it's in 3/4 with two 4 bars thrown in, imo.
I'll just end the debate now. It's written in 4/4. It's just hard to spot because of it's 3 bar phrasing and is highly syncopated so that nearly all the strong beats have avoided emphasis.
I love Radiohead...To the right of the screen is advertisements of single Christian women that are obviously looking for something other than Christ to satisfy them....How does this song relate to that?...Its trivial I guess....Thom Yorke is the fucking man...
@xKiDFRESHH Na, that goes to Good Vibrations, regardless of opinions - or a few of the tracks from 1966's Revolver like I'm Only Sleeping for example.
I like Radiohead and a lot of their songs.. they are great, interesting, creative.. something special.. But this has been always my most favourite song of them.. and i cant tell why but when I hear it i feel soo much ..melancholy, dramatic, peace.. it just makes me calm and think about things =D
This is serious depression music, but there is something fantastic about the depression it provides. Even though it's a hopeless depression, I can't help but love it !
@pikeflyfisherman I dunno, i sort of get a sense of awe and being completely arrested and neutralized by the fucking majesty of it all.. But that's just me.
@kenrben I can see why the song would make you feel like that ! Its like a story is being told through the music, you can hear the relief of the pain towards the end, its weird. But Thom really created a masterpiece with this one !
@hayzay89 holy crap ive had this for 2 years and never realized it was just a book on its side. i always thought it was just a really crappy artsy drawing or something....holy crap
hey, yoyoyo, if ya want a radioheadjob exp, go into your music editor and stack a copy of this song on top of itself, only start pyramid song #2 smack-dab in the middle of the first two piano chords...the effect is more radiohead than radiohead...i wonder if they built it like that on purpose, and i am the superhuman RH fan that figured it out first! try it, it will be worth the money... what money?
I might be wrong but when the pyramid song played and all the knives where out... There were no surprises I began to figure out how to disappear completely and I thus isolated myself into the powerline fields where the chords wrapped around my neck and even the utmost power of electricity inhibited beyond my social nerves and spinal verbs didnt break bends to cancer upon me and I began to breathe again into the wind and shadow of God's mysterious planet...A God made of science will *Analyze
I just noticed for the first time today that the strings don't enter in the time between the first two verses, but are present the whole time, playing textural sounds until then.
I mean, I always noticed the sounds, it just never hit me that those are strings.
I feel like the whole world is playing some sick joke on me. Everywhere I look it says that Pyramid Song, Street Spirit, How To Disappear Completely and Weird Fishes/Arpeggi were all written by the same band, "Radiohead". That's preposterous - there's no way one group of human beings could have written all of these unbelievable songs in just a few years.
You in cold tent in the night with your woman. You and woman begin procreation to strengthen the Motherland's numbers. Your woman's phone begins to ring. She answer it, and her face drop. The weak one begins to weep; you ask about call. She says,"It was papa! He was sent to Siberia for talks of liberty!".
NO PHONES IN SIBERIA! WOMAN LIES AND GOES TO GULAG!
Thanks for uploading. I think after you've listened to this, you should look for the official video, even though I'm dead grateful for the upload 'cause it's awesome. It's based upon Thom Yorke's dream. Even when Yorke is asleep, his mind still creates beautiful things.
@duckman531 It's not his song, hence, he doesn't get copyright rights to it, therefore he doesn't get to choose whether or not there's ads on the video, I'm fairly certain.
This is the song that will be played in a movie a hundred years from now in the scene documenting the rise of the one world government following the collapse of the economies of the west in the 2nd decade of the 21st century. The police state moves in, the carbon taxes are imposed and camps set up.... all the while the dialogue in this scene will be silent and all you can hear is this music.....
@mukkohaha if the oligarchs want to worship their "devil" then so be it. I will fight this, the revolutionary party will be set in motion, a constitutionalist republican will no longer be on the periphery of British politics..
@thegreathistorian7 you think it's " their " devil ? Lucifer is working very hard making the path to salvation narrow. Through every mean possible, i guess you haven't done your research.
@mukkohaha god and the devil is 100% bullshit neither universally defined or proven or even likely. The enemy is human u dumb christian, stop getting distracted by the mythical soul battle, stop praying and do something useful. Thanks for wasting my precious time as existence is finite. Ill go back to writing an new constitution for the UK u go back to sucking off your invisible skydaddy like the New World Order want you to.
@TheRazecah All is very similar. Its because of that why we can observe the influence of arab culture in the flamenco music, In this song you can listen, if you know, the flamenco cadence, "frigia" cadence, i dont know how is its name in english, and sorry for my english jejei

I was out walking one night & I got lost & was wandering aimlessly by the sea. I had this song playing on my 1980's walkman when I was caught in a terrible thunder storm. The rain got into my walkman & it stopped working. I was soaked through, lost & pissed off but to make matters worse there was some smug so & so in the distance with an iPod on, crying at the view! It overwhelmed me to the point of furious anger! From that day on how I feel about the world has changed, for the worse!
puts me in a high place mentally

Radiohead's offerings since Kid A have been hit and miss but this is undoubtedly the highlight of them all personally.
