Its kind of funny because in my country Greece - where people were NEVER really occupied with UFOs and such things, the majority of sightings were reported in 1980 and 1981... and even 2 popular singers (the one was Vlassis Bonatsos) had reported seeing a UFO one night after returning from a show (these were serious people and had nothing to gain by saying so in a country where UFO were considered a joke.

He was in one of his fields alone and as he was working on his tractor an intense light surrounded him, he turned and he was blinded by the light, the source was quite close and seemingly on the ground some 500m away or so it seemed. He was a man of reason (and he had no such imagination to think of aliens...), he thought it must had been a military drill and they would not want him to see....

He asked people of the village if they saw somehing weird but none had seen it (the event happened several kilometers outside the village, in the fields). However, when he talked to people from 2 nearby villages, there were a couple of other farmers who happened to be out in the fields. Then one had seen from far away a light landing and then rising and he thought it was some kind of military projector.

He was scared, more than my grandfather, they really exchanged their experience and never really mentioned it anywhere, they hardly ever spoke on it again. Our grandfather told us the whole story when he heard us talking about UFOs but still he did'nt believe in aliens

Politicians cut the funding of the Apollo-program prematurely (Apollo 18 and 19 were built and astronauts were trained and ready). There can never be any profit made (except for those who build the equipment) on the Moon, so the interest faded. One failure (Apollo 13) out of seven. Two failures out of 130+ regarding the Shuttle. Going to the Moon was apparently much more risky (statistically).
