@judgerofwars what if the attacker is bigger and stronger, and maybe you cannot reach his hands behind your neck? EX: like a big man attacking a small girl...she wouldn't be big enough or strong enough
You can "what if" all day... That's how fighting styles were created. A bunch of guys sat around and "What if!?!" for a LONG time and figured out answers to their "what ifs" For every move, there is a counter, and a counter for that counter, and a counter for THAT counter. Human beings are annoying that way. Point is, you can "What if" for the rest of your life, and it will continue forever, this is how fighting styles were made. Why don't YOU figure out what the girl should do, it'd be fun! =D
thats one of the worst self defence tecniques ive ever seen. its not that easy to try and take someone down who has a superior position to you and when you can bearly move your spine lol and even if you somehow managed to pull his off, youve only acomplished going to the ground (bad in self defense) with your opponant having your back!!!
@mgbrawl Search "Submissions 101 Full Nelson" and you'll probably be able to get a better video and explanation. It helps that Submissions 101 is in English and goes a step further after going to the ground.
@HarryinRichmond: you are right, sorry about my sarcasim. the sub101 technique shows how to relive pressure from the fullnelson and how to land without exposing your back too much, and is a much better representation of the move. however, i stand by much of what i said in my first comment, as there are much better options than either...
@mgbrawl OK. I just meant to note that this is not necessarily a terrible technique (I'm not endorsing it as among the best and I don't purport to be qualified to make that assessment) and that the way it is presented in this video (including just the language barrier) is in part why it might initially appear to be so bad.
@HarryinRichmond: yeh, thats fair to say, it also says in the title 'if full nelson-cant break out' so i would assume this to be a last resort before the pressure would injure the neck. i just dont like going to the ground in 'self defense' when they may be multiple opponants/pavement etc, and with the guy having your back, can easily transition to a choke on you....
@2strong2cool i dont think mandella was a foolish nelson, but yes admiral nelson was full. you might also be interested to know that nelson from the simpsons was a bully as he was trying to replace feelings of shame (as his moms a whore) with feelings of power. all in all- he's a pretty cool nelson. (wtf?)
@mgbrawl Far better to be a Cool Nelson than a Fool Nelson or a Tool Nelson. From what i hear, once Cool Nelson state has been achieved, it's pretty much unescapable - search Youtube for proof - i guarantee you not One of these grappling gurus have figured out a foolproof escape from the Cool Nelson ;)
well, this doesn't work on astronger and a persistent opponent.... I've tried it.... he won't let go even he's on the ground.......

what IF the attacker is VERY much BIGGER and HEAVIER than you, and they fall on top of you?
EvanQuinn07 1 year ago 2
@EvanQuinn07 just grab one of his fingers while he has you in the neslon. then break it. and move your head backwards to give
him head butts.

@mgbrawl
Wrong. Going to the ground is fine if you are versed in ground fighting. Also, the ending position here puts you in place to effect an arm bar.
