@ggaya123 I would say just water is best. Any kind of shampoo may irritate the skin + the cat may digest remnants left in the fur when licking after the bath. Also, it's unnecessary, unless the cat has some skin disease or fleas.Maybe there are shampoos with a positive effect in that case, I don't know.

But it's very individual whether cats like baths. Some hate being in water and find it humiliating. Don't do it then. Others take a dip voluntarily. You can test yours and see what she says.

If that means that it takes brushing their teeth to keep them from falling out of their head, you do that.

And you do have to take care of your animals teeth, whether it be cats or dogs, because their teeth will decay and fall out over time, just like a person's teeth. In EVERY veterinary/cat care book you look at, it will tell you to brush their teeth once in a while. It makes it plain and simple for people like you to figure out.

Unless you regularly brush your cats teeth (and that in itself is a pain in the butt), their breath becomes rank, and they lick themselves constantly on top of it. I dunno if you even own a cat, but that becomes a permanent, funky smell unless you bathe them now and again. Your animals are just like children; just because they don't like something doesn't necessarily mean it's bad for them, and certainly doesn't mean it's abuse.

@sramster You do that, ignore the peon and his factless opinion. Bathing your cat is good for it. Regardless of what some uneducated people think, bathing an animal (dog, cat, bird) does not hurt it. If you have a problem with your cat, scruff it, or if you have a big enough tub, hop in with it. My cats don't freak out if I sit in the tub with them to give them a bath. It lets your animal know that there isn't a reason to fear the water, and it helps calm them down.
