  • Although storms may descend,

    Mountain and valley may quake.

    For the days that remain,

This is the promise I make.

No shadow fall across this land,

Before the wind and fire I stand,

And you my child will know no harm,

    Enfolded in my arms,

    Lothlórien!

  • yay im the 100.000 viewer!!! but I guess it's no surprise...as I've had to have watched this video at least 300 times in the past few days...

  • @BravoBound Congrats. It was a great show

  • Awesome!

  • why oh why did they stop this show :(((

  • Wish I could have seen this.

  • tolkien himself would have teared up if he saw his creation come alive like this.

  • @surgerryy in pain or happiness? my vote is with the former.

  • I thought Legolas had blonde hair. His hair is dark.

  • @TheMickiRae Its not actually stated whether Legolas has blonde hair (Although I like him better with blonde hair :P) , but they just decided to make him dark for this adaptation.

  • Did Legolas sit on that vine or was it attached to him?

  • @TheMickiRae Harness attached to the vine. Same as Laura Michelle Kelly had a safety harness in her corset.

  • i would love to see this amazing performance again!

  • best london show i ever saw - the sets were fantastic and the audience participation magical. wish we could have seen it again - it closed far too quickly. Good musical memories on the CD and here on youtube, thanks.

  • Wish this show would come back already, 3 times wasnt enough!

  • So beautiful. I get chills every time I hear it.

  • 1) Laura Michelle Kelly is drop-dead GORGEOUS; especially when she's blonde :3 2) Her voice is BEAUTIFUL 3) How the Fleck is she doing aerial work when she's singing like that!?! she's so amazing xx

  • UH-MAZING.

  • Is Legolas supposed to have a big mark across his face like this one? I mean, I've read the books twice and don't remember that. I'm not hatin', just wondering. I love this song!

  • @misskellyjoyce Oh, Tolkien never described Legolas (or any other character) properly. I think the quotes that gives hints about his looks is that he is "fair of face" like all elves and that he's "a strange elf clad in brown and green". There's also a passage when he shoots the fell beast when Frodo looks up at him and it says something like "the elf's head was dark, crowned with the night sky's silver stars". This is the line that most likely gave rise to the discussion about his hair colour.

  • @misskellyjoyce I always thought it was perhaps to mark that he was from the Woodland Realm of Mirkwood, to differentiate him from the other kinds of Elves.

  • Son of my yearning,

    Daughter of hope.

    Beautiful child of my song.

All the desperation in Galadriel's character is in these words.

  • I always knew elves could defy gravity

  • @broadwaylifealways4 best comment ever!

  • @Amocktus Thank you but in the movie Legolas seems to defy gravity in the snow and on a horse, the play is not much diffrent

  • @ElfRangerAre9 When I read the books, I got the feeling that the Mirkwood elves were more tribal and wild than say the Rivendell elves, so maybe they are trying to reflect that aspect

  • The show was amazing! Such a shame it closed down :( Would kill to see it again!

  • @flamgirla35 I'd kill to see it at ALL

  • Okay, I haven't read the books. But I have seen the movies and I respect them very highly. But this....this is incredible. This song is so beautiful and I think it shows the spirit of Middle Earth. As for people saying that this isn't a 'Tolkien vision', I respectfully say that this is how someone interpreted it, and that we all should respect this version. :)

  • I saw this ages ago, i dont really remember much of it apart from when the orks jumped of the stage and ran through the audience! it was epic :D

  • what i love about galadriel in this song is that unlike in the movies, because of time, you really get to see how much she loves lothlorien. it is her creation and those that live there are her beloved ones.

  • In my opinion, the London cast did the best job with this musical.

  • Isn't it time someone put together all this footage and turned it into a DVD of the film. There is a soundtrack and I wil never understand why the final performance wasn't filmed and marketed. A gross oversight on someone's part and a real loss to all us lovers of LOTR.

  • this show was sooooooooooooo amazing! i loved this part soooo much!

  • Galadriel's voice is going to drive me to insanity. why can't i sing like that? my sister can. ugh. what torture.

  • How the hell can I see this show. My god.

  • he need's to look like legolas in the movie now then it would be perfect!

  • @thekairi19 Why Legolas in the movie? It's Tolkein's character. Not Jackson's.

  • @FallingRedRose I'm glad some people here respect Tolkien.

  • I have the soundtrack, and I have to say, the entire thing is just wonderful. I really want it to come to the US, but of course, we can never get it right over here.

  • I like the part about Lord of the Rings

  • Ugh 3mins of viewing is enough to see they murdered a literary classic. Not a single bit of sindarin singing bet it was a flop of a musical going by look of this.

  • @TheFaenon there are other songs in the musical, in which they sing sindarin.. (:

  • @TheFaenon It was actually quite successful when it played in London. :)

  • Legolas's voice is amazing!!

  • LAURA MICHELLE KELLY!! I'm seriously her biggest fan. And I am from Norway:) I am going to meet her some day... And I really want to see this musical in London!!

  • @RybakAndEdenLover You SHOULD meet her. Come to NYC and see her in Mary Poppins. She's returning July 19. She is wonderful in the role and she's a sweetheart! I've met her a few times. :D

  • I went to see this in London whilst it was on and it was brilliant, made for an amazing day out :D

  • I went to see this in London a while ago, it was AMAZING.

  • Heres my beef. Legolas is supposed to be blond and not look barbaric.

  • @beckys757: Barbaric stirs the blood ;)

  • @beckys757 There is a scholarly debate going on about whether Legolas is blonde or brown haired. Look it up, you learn a lot about middle earth's history :)

  • @beckys757 I agree, he does not the blond hair of the mirkwood elves, traditional green clothing, and what is that line going down his face?

  • So glad they released an offical video of this song, it's my all time favourite from the soundtrack, and was blown away by it the first time I heard it. Micheal Rouse's voice and portrayal of Legolas is simply wonderful

  • I wish this show was still playing at least somewhere in the world! It was the most amazing thing I've even seen on stage! So beautiful and magical! Just amazing in every aspect! =D

  • Legolas' voice is so mysterious -- it fits perfectly with the words. Anyone know where I can get the CD?

  • @SnowySpiritRuby Amazon

  • @SnowySpiritRuby A very good adaptable of Legolas :-)

  • @SnowySpiritRuby

    itunes

  • Seriously? Legolas needs a song all to himself. In the whole musical, he gets less than a minute of one song, but he's got one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

  • @Grantmesnil I couldn't agree more!! :) He has the best voice in the whole cast! Stunning!

  • Does anyone know where I can get a full VOB of this show??? I LOVE the music and everything about it

  • I LOVE LMK's performance in this song, I think it is the best version of her solo on here, however, I wish it had all of Legolas' solo because it's sooo beautiful.

  • ugh I would kill to see this show.

  • This is phenomenal, and I personally like this ending better

  • @dmpippert94

This is not an ending scene.

  • @Serena2009ification I know, I just meant the ending of the song, there are like three different recordings with three different musical endings to the end, and this is my favorite

  • You know, if someone could find a way to downsize this show, even by just a little, it could probably be done in america. And please, no one else but Laura Michelle Kelly for Galadriel, she completely understands the character, and the effect is astounding.

  • Her voice is beautiful. Love the flute.

  • Oh my fucking god that was amazing.

ENFOLDED IN MY ARMS - LOTHHHHLOOORIIIENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think the markings on the faces are supposed to indicate where the elf came from...

  • 100 STARS!

  • There are no words.. The stage. I LOVE IT!

  • Lord of the Rings was a great show, i was very sceptical before going to the show, but it did win me over. The problem really is, alot of people were put off if they have never read the books or seen the films so may find the show confusing. The fact that it was Lord of the Rings and people thought it may not be suitable for families. And the fact that it is such a technical production it needs a very large theatre, which means that there is always more seats which need to be filled

  • lol cirque du solei worthy

  • His voice is incredible! I think i'm in love.

  • Love this song. Though I am curious as to whether the elvish lyrics in these songs actually mean anything, or whether the lyricist kind of just made up words that sounded like Tolkein's elvish languages. XD

  • @aviva0017 There are real words, Tolkien created that language and it is definitely used. I don't know what they mean but it's Elvish

  • @christrumpet1 its Sindarin or Quenia

  • @aviva0017 No self-respecting Dramaturg would allow gibberish to be used in place of Elvish. It's definitely Tolkien's own Elvish.

It's been a LOOONG time since I've translated any Elvish, but here's my translation: "Golden land! Oh, green radiance! With the grace of spring, Nimrodel (a river in Lorien) and grief passes. Oh, Golden land! Oh, Golden land! Golden land, oh green radiance! Dawn rises. Lothlorien!"

  • @outdamnwench You think Disney would allow a musical that has flopped twice to take over where the Lion King is? If you've read what I wrote to others. Wicked and Lion King are the top grossing shows on Broadway. Neither of them are going to leave for LOTR. No matter if they scaled it down.

  • @Amocktus @Amocktus True, I'm quite sure neither Wicked, Mary Poppins, nor the Lion King would be bumped in order to make room for LOTR.

I was just noting that technical limitations wouldn't be a significant barrier if someone was theoretically trying to mount the show at the New Amsterdam.

  • @Amocktus Obviously none of the big earners are going to bumped for LOTR. Just speaking from a technical standpoint, the theatre would be able to handle the show.

  • Whoa..this Legolas is hot. This is so pretty. I know it is closed right now, but I hope they do a production here in the state someday.

  • This is like some insane love child of Cirque du Soleil and Andrew Lloyd Weber... I kind of love it...

  • The music is gorgeous, but LORD OF THE RINGS?? As nice as it is to have a magical show....just wtf.

  • @carriewhite410 well.. the book itself is like a musical, it have so much lyrics Tolkien himself write.. so maybe its more accurate whit a musical

  • Omg I love this musical so much. I've seen it in London twice and would have gladly gone again if I could. I still listen to the cd a lot. There isn't a single song I don't like.

  • Laura Michelle Kelly looks and sounds like a goddess. This is absolutely beautiful. I play this song so much and I can't get over how amazing her voice is. Great melody and lyrics too. So ethereal. SO AMAZING.

  • that's the most beautiful musical scene ever!

there's a tournee planned for 2011, hope it'll take place in germany.

wish to visit it so much

  • is this how Laura should have sung at 1:38?

  • @Amocktus no, whats wrong is hiring vanessa hutchens to play mimi... lol i think he would do it justice, not as good as the originals, but still do it satisfactory.

  • if this comes to america(just a what if), id like to see aaron tveit as legolas.

  • I miss this show so much, want the tour now though i kinda dont cause things will be cut back in so many ways, just walking into the theatre was breathtaking, i felt so humbled wen i saw all the tree branches, stretching out into the audience and across the ceiling and i cried at this scene, may sound silly but it was just so amazingly beautiful and im a huge LOTR fan of the books after listening to the recorded radio show and this was one of my favourite parts.

  • Four people missed the "Like" button. How dare they.

  • They should make a musical movie on DVD then, if it's too much for the theaters.

  • @ChocoboEmperor In a way, it's similar, but LotR is a much better fit for a musical... at the very heart of the books, music and visual beauty are things Tolkien says have huge importance to Middle Earth. Think of how many times the story is inturrupted to record a song or poem character(s) sing or recite...

  • I see that there are four people who disliked this video. I want to punch them.

  • I see that there are four people who disliked this video. I want to punch them.

  • iloveit <3

  • We seem to forget the mindkoff and the new Amsterdam as well minskoff hosts lion king every night huge huge show and before that the new Amsterdam did it even the Lunt Fontaine could fit a scaled down show

  • @Fiyero06 Both don't have the weight capacity of the Gershwin or Hilton to support the massive size of the rotating stage that was used in the Toronto and London production. Drury Lane had to have a new foundation put in and the electrical grid was replaced. That wouldn't be possible in those theatres without millions more than the production already cost. That is why I did not mention them.

  • The stage is as cool as Lothlorien itself.

    Elven music, :-) Love it

  • The stage is as cool as Lothlorien itself.

    Elven music, :-) Love it

  • I get chills every single time I listen to this.

  • Ah god... I so wanted to see this musical, but in the end, I didn't go. Sucks. I think it would have been amaaazing and absolutely mindblowing.

  • where was this performed?

  • @donniedarko88888 Theature Royal Dury Lane in London. I live in Seattle but was on a school feild trip and whatched this show a few days before it closed. Absolutly Amazing!

  • When I first heard that LOTR I was a little iffy thinking we hardcore fans have gone a little to far but after much research and many hours in google I think entirely different now. I like how they used the ribbon dancing to represent the lightness in elves movements and idk something about Legolas singing seems so right. I PSSH im speechless!

  • Does anyone know where I can get sheet music for this???

  • Michael Rouse (Legolas) has an amazing voice! I cant stop listening to this song! :)

but, i wish they would have shown him more during this song on stage, he's got such an amazing voice and he's hiding in the dark on a rope! T_T

Legolas needs to be recignised! lol!

  • As cool as this is... poor Tolkien is probably spinning in his grave. :P

  • @ConvictPants its acutalyl pretty accurate to the book way more than the movie is

  • @ConvictPants why do u say that? i mean im not disagreeing with you or agreeing i was just wondering the reason lol. :D

  • Too bad some parts of the song have been left out :( Great video though.

  • wow the music for this is BEAUTIFUL! Now it makes me wanna go out and buy it...I wish this would come to broadway!

  • I'm going to college to major in directing and stage management. I've told myself this is going to be the first show I bring to broadway *fingers crossed*

  • Keep on dreaming with that one! I doubt any producers would invest the money into the cost of this show. It was debated many times before that very Broadway theaters could house the show. The Gershwin has Wicked and the Hilton. It will never come to Broadway in this form. It would be scaled down big time.

  • Well, it would obviously have to be scaled down. I would not think otherwise, it's simply such a hard show to do, but I see it as a challange for all aspects of theater, and as a major challenge for Broadway itself.

  • No producer would put that much money up and as I said there are only two broadway theaters capable of meeting even a scaled down version of the show. The Gershwin and the Hilton. It is a challenge but if it were to come to the states it would should be a concert version.

  • @Amocktus I was lucky enough to see this show in London a few days before the show closed while I was on a school trip from Seattle. Amazing and I hate musicals!

  • @Amocktus I'm not so sure. There is a huge demand for it amoung those of us who know of the show. I think that if enough LOTR groupies got togather it could work. This show is supposed to be the most amazing theater experince on earth.. it would be well worth the cost.

  • @goldengreaser Yeah, good luck with that!

  • @goldengreaser on the web site it says there planning a 2011 tour

  • WHat a very great pity no one bothered to film this while it was playing on the London Stage

  • That Legolas guy has got an AWESOME voice. Wow.

  • AHH I LOVE IT! Anytime they mix circus arts in musicals i get way excited! The music gave me chills!

  • This is awesome, but honestly, I'm not sure I the way they portray the Elves in the musical... Just my opinion, though. And huzzah for a brunette Legolas!

  • he...he...legolas is brunette?!

    OMG

  • who is this brunette elf´?

should it be legolas or haldir?

    which character is it?

  • its legolas

  • Legolas

  • Saw this 3 times in LOndon and it wasnt enough - I cant wait till it goes on tour in 2011!!!!

  • they're going to do this show again??? in London or where? I'd love to see it...

  • wait.... is gooing on tour????? sweet!! Do you know if it would be comming to the midwest usa?

  • Это фантастический фильм благодаря. :)))))))

  • This is a beautiful presentation! ... Though I had to laugh when I saw those shoes Galadriel's wearing - the ones that look like suspension shoes xD

  • I played Bilbo Baggins in a the hobbit play when i was a teenager it got me addicted to the lord of the rings saga

  • I love this one. Galadriel was well portrayed. :)

  • from 2:22 on this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It must have been incredible on stage!

  • Trust me, it was. My wife and I went to London just after Christmas 2007 and saw the matinee performance on Saturday, December 29th. We pretty much went just to see LOTR. It was magnificent.

  • @theatrerose words cannot describe how amazing it was live. i had the honor of seeing it closing night

  • @theatrerose

I'm sure it was; but to give credit where it is due, it is even more beautiful when you can see the look on her face from close up. Thank heavens for video cameras!

  • dont u wish that had the real ending of the song recorded? i like the big sounding ending.

  • ohhhh love this scene and the song is so magical.

  • Everything about LOTR is magical!

  • i like this version of the song better than the actual recorded one

  • Um..this IS the CD version..

  • *lol*

  • The lady Galadriel is so perfectly depicted!

    I LUUUURVE LOTR !

  • Galadriel is so gorgeous. I wish I could sing and look like her.

    Dear Santa...

  • this Laura Michelle Kelly, the beggar Woman from Sweeney Todd?

  • Yes, it is!

  • HURRAY!

    She rox!

  • Can you send me this PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • Gahhhh. This gives me chills.

  • Lorien is best moment in show.

  • You mean Lothlorien. Lorien is Elfish for 'gold' :P

  • Lorien is Lothlorien.

  • It doesn't matter, if you call it Lorien or Lothlorien, does it? I don't remember, but what does "Loth" mean?

  • It doesn't matter if you called it Lorien or Lothlorien.

  • @FinalLifeline Flower.

  • I went to see this...It was brilliant!

  • could you send me your lothlorien video plzzzzzzzzzzz thanks :)

  • Send it to Broadway, please!

  • Would be nice but it will never happen. Broadway producers wouldn't touch it especially with the price tag it comes with.

  • there is also no theatre large enough to house it. the set is too massive.

  • Not even the Gershwin?

  • The Gershwin and Hilton are the only ones large enough..Wicked is at the Gershwin and that isn't going anywhere.

  • I can't seem to type in the url so click on my name folks and you can see the final performance of LOTHLORIEN taken on closing night. I also taped the final speeches at the end but I won't put that up for a lil while longer

  • Why don't you sign the petition for a DVD. I've seen the show twice now and love it. It has a massive fan base, far beyond any other show thats out at the moment and so there's a huge market for a dvd. The footage here was what they filmed for the archives, all they need to do is put it on dvd now for us fans. Go to the go petitition website, type lord of the rings stage show in the search box, navigate to the page and sign! WE NEED THE SIGNATURES.

  • can you give me a link?

  • i am seeing this on mon i cant wait i realy love this song so i cant wait to hear it live!!

  • How have I not come across this?! Wow. I have been remiss. This was absolutely wonderful to watch, and a real memory jerker. Having seen LOTR about 5 times now in London, Lothlorien is one of my favourite numbers, and it's GREAT to see footage online. Official footage too....which makes me wonder....DVD release....hmmm... Hope so!

  • GREAT singers and this song is beautiful....

but a lord of the rings musical? tooooooo far.

  • Abbie Osmon, is good, but I still prefer Laura Michelle Kelly. I just saw the show a week ago, and I really hope they do put it on DVD! I live in the States, and I know of a lot of people who would buy it!
