Every Video i saw so far with LeCavalier ist totally fulfilling my sense of beauty and arts! I am reading all those comments that say she is a man or she is transsexual, however, ALL of us women look kind of manly if we stop behaving in certain "female ways"!
Dommage qu'il y ait cet interminable début, les inutiles scènes de sauna. La suite est du pur Lecavalier, poupée désarticulée et inquiétante. Les lunettes de l'homme ajoute au contraste : le type normal qui doit manier une grenade...
@ciararavenblaze Sorry , I used to drink a lot . I don't anymore , but as I watched this again , Oh boy ! You've gotta admit that it's a pretty queer little vid . Not that there's anything wrong with that .
OMG! I never thought I'd ever see that again - I remember watching it on the Bette Midler show at the time and being completely wowed ~ thanks so much for posting it :)
I first saw La La La in the UK on Altered Image (I think it was called that.) in 1984. Mick Karn did the theme. I was intrigued by the female image until I realised it was a very androgynous person of whom I didn't know was male or female. Is she transsexual?
I know the point now is moot: First it is NO ONE's damn business what her gender is. Second... her gender is irrelevant to her performance. What is wrong with people? OMG...it stirred emotions in you and now you HAVE to know. Get a life!
OMG!. I recorded the audio of this on a cassette recorder 25 years ago when I was watching the program on tv. Had never seen it again 'til now. I still have the cassette though. Thxs so much for posting.
I almost always love La La Human Steps... this one has some amazing moves, of course, but other times, I feel like I'm watching Chris Crocker dance with a businessman... some of it is very awkward between awesome moments. Strange, and Midler is even stranger here--what happened to the lovely singer 0_0?
In any case, I love the Amelia dance by them (and even more when put to Temposhark, as available here on YT)...
The music is by West India Company (guy from Blancmange), this is their only follow-up to "Ave Maria" I think, the album is called "New Demons" and is very hard to find . . .
Had Bette Midler not hid behind a half-baked idiotic character, maybe people would have taken the genius of La La La Human Steps, and the other performance artists introduced on Mondo Beyondo more seriously.
Je crois que je préfère les chorégraphies d'Edouard Lock à ce temps là! J'aime beaucoup beaucoup ses dernières oeuvres avec des danseurs avec une formation de ballet, mais Louise Lecavalier est trop intense!

I remember seeing this when I was about 9 or 10 yo. It made such an impact on me (and I'm not a huge fan of dance or the arts in general).

That's a man and a woman. In what way is this gay?
scmm42 2 years ago 3
Oops , sorry !
whillop 2 years ago
@whillop to call something gay--namely, as an insult--is to shout to the world that you fear the possibility of being gay yourself.
