AV used to be the best damn bg ever. It had anything one wanted, giant fights 40 against 40, it had the tactical upgrading of your own units, it has summoning additional units like the bat riders who bombed the middle, the wolf rider and the giant elemental. But now its a speed rush to the generals, nothing more. I loved Av with its 3 hours+ battles which you really felt awesome afterwards but now its just frustrating -.-
if i remember correctly, blizz added the resource system because apparently they didnt want people spending 3 or so days to take end the match, what they did instead is like every single complaint states, made it "easy" for people to go in and get a win/loss, at the point that our toons are at (once we get to the boss and he has the two or more towers gone, we got it locked) they should change it back, which should allow all the fun of av to come back, thumbs up if you agree with my opinion

best way to win av nowadays is to have a few ppl to def either drek or stormpike (depending on ur team). if you wipe the enemy teams first rush to ur base its pretty much gg. but almost every av i do now nobody EVER defends either towers or drek.

Thing is why people rush it so badly is cos it is the easiest BG to farm honour in, especially at lower levels. I mean I got my full lvl 60 epics + lvl 70 epics in two days of call to arms in AV. And unlike others it requires next to 0 tactics from the common "cannon fodder". And the longer it drags out, the less honour per hour you get, so yes, R.I.P. AV =(
blizzard destoryed it by adding resources, so its actually not the players fault. Peoples adapt after the enviroment - and at this moment rushing van/drek is the way to go. If they would removed resources and removed alterac valley from the "random queue" and put it as a choice instead we could relive the good old days.

i'm gonna comment on this.It isn't just AV. It's PvP altogether.Players can beat other players in 3 seconds flat.That is not PvP. PvP used to last a long time because skilled players were extremely hard to kill! Potions MATTERED! now they mean nothing! In PvP players used to fight for 1.30 seconds a tough player.This was about skill and how you built your character.Now no matter what your gear is it is the class you pick that is so impossible to kill.Thus the overpowered classes.

Dude i was just saying this the other day... they need to make MORE wandering generals who actually can just crack people a few times dead with tons of health buff the bosses, and make the quest bonus;s worth it. Cata IMO has ruined WoW. it's become so gear dependant that you can get 2.3k rating just by farming starter PVP gear in BGs. PVE now is all about who has achievements and was there at the start of catalysm an could keep up. new players be it skilled or not can't get passed HC gear.
WoW PvP has gone to shit. They should've called it Shitaclysm. IDK much about vanilla. BC was plain fucking fun and balanced overall. WOTLK was bursty but arenas by the time S6 started actually had a very high skill cap. Shitaclysm is just shit, PvP is dumbed down and low utility, not to mention severely imbalanced. Fuck. What the fuck. SWTOR please save us.
Recently I was playing alliance for about an hour, the horde was at 50 and we were at 10, then we were able to summon the giant elementals and won! It was pretty fun :>

Yup, this is 100% truth. I actually wear my PvE gear in AV, especially if I'm tanking or healing. It's kinda funny that the game is more about getting honor/justice instead of actually having fun to most players.
You also forgot to mention how unbalanced the map is towards a certain faction (any1 who's played AV knows which faction I'm talking about).

I played back in vanilla and the longest AV I had was a few hours. Luckily I missed the days-long AVs but they would have been both epic AND as frustrating as hell, lol.

Dude i was just saying this the other day... they need to make MORE wandering generals who actually can just crack people a few times dead with tons of health buff the bosses, and make the quest bonus;s worth it. Cata IMO has ruined WoW. it's become so gear dependant that you can get 2.3k rating just by farming starter PVP gear in BGs. PVE now is all about who has achievements and was there at the start of catalysm an could keep up. new players be it skilled or not can't get passed HC gear.

WoW PvP has gone to shit. They should've called it Shitaclysm. IDK much about vanilla. BC was plain fucking fun and balanced overall. WOTLK was bursty but arenas by the time S6 started actually had a very high skill cap. Shitaclysm is just shit, PvP is dumbed down and low utility, not to mention severely imbalanced. Fuck. What the fuck. SWTOR please save us.

Yup, this is 100% truth. I actually wear my PvE gear in AV, especially if I'm tanking or healing. It's kinda funny that the game is more about getting honor/justice instead of actually having fun to most players.
You also forgot to mention how unbalanced the map is towards a certain faction (any1 who's played AV knows which faction I'm talking about).

I'm just going to through this out there but AV is Ally Riged! I means really! Every Flipin Time I go there we lose! we are like almost to the GY by the bridge and the Allys already have taken over the iner walls of our base and are waiting for more ppl to arive to kill our dude. I played back in vanilla and the longest AV I had was a few hours. Luckily I missed the days-long AVs but they would have been both epic AND as frustrating as hell, lol.
p.s. if you want to have a lot of fun, play ele Shammy and grab a few Alliance mates who know what they're doing and turtle on the bridge, There is nothing as enjoyable as thunderstorming a dozen horde off that bridge JUST when they think they've finally made it across, hahahahahahahahaha

Alterac Valley was actually ruined by the players long before Blizzard made the changes to it they did.
When players started caring more for farming honor rather then having a fun time, that is when AV began to decline.
I remember the pattern the Horde on my server, (this was before cross-realm BGs).
It was as follows:
Start AV,
Kill Belinda,
Lose,
Repeat.
Ugh! And the excuses! "You get more honor!" I'd rather have more fun, then more honor points. Dip$#!+s!!!!

I remember pre-BC, when the battles were epic in scope, and the elementals and flying guys would end up being summoned like every single game, it was so awesome back then, It was my favorite bg back then, and there hasn't been a better one since... now it's populated by fuck-tards, who pretty much always fail to wrap their heads around the simple concepts needed to win. It really sucks that such a cool bg has been slaughtered like it has.
