I honestly don't remember it going like that. work on technique before you star trying to play real songs. I learnded guitar by playing COB licks to, but I never got anywhere until I cleaned up my technique. I know this sounds crazy, but try playing some more rhythm based bands like "In Flames", "At The Gates", or even "Dimmu Borgir". Learn to keep rhythm before you learn to play leads to them. It seriously helps more than anything. Oh yeah, and be yourself.

Bodomchild... you say you're playing @ E Tuning but CoB plays @ D Tuning ( or even Drop C Tuning on a few songs ) so you should tune yourself correctly, it would definitely sound better :P
