prax4788: yea there are people who jump the cues. yea there are apocryphal stories of doctors telling canadians they'll die without the american system, yea our system will cost $180B. let's cue on that last one: how is it that we can afford it? we're not 'the greatest country in the world' neither is france or england. you are, and you let 40,000 people die every year without coverage, never mind the bankruptcies. end your wars and care for your people!
who cares what the founding fathers wanted? could they have anticipated billion dollar insurance companies? in canada we don't have health insurance companies, at all. they don't exist, except blue cross for dental. all medical is taken care of by the state. a multi-billion dollar unnecessary industry doesn't exist at all in canada. we do fine. we don't have health insurance. we go to a doctor and show them our id. we're canadian, we're covered. end of story. grow up.
Isn't it just grand to know that our politicians just don't get it! I say go for the jugular and cut out the health insurance companies(run by Wall Street) out of health care! It is the only way this country is ever going to have a strong, healthy, vibrant economy again!
Landreiu - You suck! Stop calling yourself a democrat. You are more conservative than a quarter of the republicans in congress and in Europe, you would be considered in the extreme right.
The same Conservii-dem Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana who so jaw-droppingly, slobberingly thanked Bush for his fly-by show of care for the victims of Katrina. Really! Really?
Landrieu -- of all the blue dogs -- makes me the sickest. Her constituents desperately want this bill to pass with a robust public option; but those monied southern men who fund her are pulling her puppet strings and she hasn't the guts to break away.
How much would you LOVE to see just one congress person -- especially a Dem in a red district -- stand up and say, "you know, health care is too damned important for me to worry about reelection. Fuck it. I'm voting for it."
Also they just held a free clinic in her state and was invited but she never showed. Working people with health care were seen and two were sent directly to the hospital which saved their lives. This woman truly only cares about getting re-elected and nothing more
You're right, gregg. What's crazy is, all those tea-bagging "patriots" who want a "return to the country of our founders" -- they're they may get their wish; no one will have health care, wealthy 'landowners' will rule us all. Now that really is 3rd world. (I know, I live in 3rd world countries!)
My question is do the tea baggers have any clue what the founders advocated for? They certainly have no clue what Jesus preached. How are we to expect that they know the thinking of our founders when they don't even know what christianity is really about. Its not like any of these people have any real knowledge of American history or anything related to education.
It's a real quandary, sharpe. I try never to say anything about it in the comment sections so that I don't look like a bigger prick than I am, but I actually do read a LOT about the founders; I'm thoroughly obsessed with them. I do not believe most of these tea partiers have any clue as to what our country was founded on -- ask one to name the first five presidents -- oh, hell, just the first 3! It's just so pathetic yet scary.
I'm a Canadian and I love our flawed health care system.

Democrats never call back and just send form letters. They only care about their office not the people who vote them in.

iamavet,
I think that is true for all American politicians minus a select few in both parties.

Exactly. I have a question.. In the states that opt out of the public option will they still be required to purchase insurance?

I'm sure that if our founders knew what was going on today, they would want universal health care.

Seriously - pathetic and scary at the same time. Perfect words to describe the right wing these days.
