  • the girl in the purple sweater must be editor. i don't care if she meant it as a joke, she KNOWS there are guys reading it who will take it as real advice.

  • Can anything be a joke? Probably. Will everything that's intended as a joke be appropriate? Probably not. Argument by analogy gets you real far when no one's thinking too hard about these issues. Think hard: we can get carried away by perpetuating dull thoughts in the most vulnerable of us. Rape, abuse, "donkey punching" as jokes? Even a vulgar "yo mama" joke is a far cry from evoking the notion that a woman is only a pretty bag of meat to run your dick in and out of. Is the "joke" worth it?

  • that girl is an idiot. There is no "joke" about abuse or rape. This is disgusting

  • @tulip2111 i totally agree. i could relate. i went through 6 years of long term counseling. i prefer to date women and beta girls. UH... this is so horrible. she is ugly on the outside and on the inside.

  • @mollykjody what is a beta girl?

  • @tulip2111 whenever people use alpha compared to beta it means in terms of personality and behavior. in this way when using it to describe a person a alpha would be a dominant aggressive kind of character person as a beta would be a more nice person who is less abrasive. i interpret beta girls as girls who are more approachable and sweeter.

  • @mollykjody oh okay, gotcha.

  • I'm australian and if theres one thing were known for its being laid back and being able to take a joke.. and i am so offended by this i cant even tell you! the fact a woman would work for a magazine that "jokes" about abuse towards women and degrading women! Tell the women who have been raped and assaulted to just "relax" that women and all men who behave like this should be bloody ashamed of themselves!

  • Why can't people just admit when they're wrong?

  • Lighten up about rape and abuse?

Sure, okay, let's all lighten up about rape and abuse :D

    NO.

She should try telling that philosophy to the victims. Think before you speak.

  • @ClayMastah344 yeah, that is her hang up. we have our right she has her right. her right to her stupidity and her ugliness. bad karma. even regular looking or good looking girls are not that ugly like her. i mean ugly as in mental degradation ...yuck

  • @ClayMastah344 there are always going to be people like her out there. she is so neurotic about these things.

  • I agree take things as they are and anything can be a joke as long as you can also call a spade a spade and when someting wreaks of degading inhumanity we as a society can still recognize it. If people cannot tell right from wrong, then there really is a problem not just for the perps with death of empathy, but for all of society who pays to jail these vicims of manufactured conscent.

We all pay for crimes against humanity in the death of empathy, what goes around always comes around

  • It's disgusting to think all women think alike. Everyone is an individual, some people like it rough and some do not.

  • if someone was really willing to follow through with something like a donkey punch during sex they sure as hell don't need to read about it to convince them to do it.

the whole argument is ridiculous just like 90% of college courses you take to meet your credit .

the professors who conduct this dribble need to have there heads examined and held accountable for screwing up common sense .

  • Damn straight!

  • No one said... either of those things. You did actually read the comment before responding, right?

  • ... yeah. Making jokes about punching people in the head with wanton abandon is awful!

Suggesting that they be executed though. Yeah. That's cool. Oh, wait. You were joking?

    ... that's not funny.

  • The editor is pretty cool. She doesn't let the super-PC crowd stop her from making jokes and expressing herself.

Those other women are the kind of perpetually-outraged, super-PC idiots that constantly look for something to be offended about so they can ride their moral high horse all over the place. They accomplish nothing but getting on the nerves of rational people. Hopefully their never-ending rage will kill them off at an early age from a stroke.

  • I actually agree that anything at all in the world can be made into a joke. ANYTHING! No matter how sad or awful it actually is, if you twist it the right way, it can be made funny. I don't think that editor really knew how to make sexual abuse funny, but maybe a better writer would be able to satirise it and exaggerate it enough to render it humorous.

  • And anyone thinks feminism is not necessary?

Pretty sad that this editor has things so confused. "lighten up and take things as they are"? I believe that taking things as they are would imply taking them seriously. Perhaps after she has just been given a concussion by some dumb frat boy so he could use her body like a masturbatory device she might come to realize that sexualized violence isn't a joke.

  • degrading and disgusting. young me need to reject this bullshit....abusing a woman is never cool.

  • Unless you've got a time machine, I don't think young you is going to be rejecting anything.

  • I THOUGHT it was a joke. I thought that at the beginning. WOW they were over-reacting.

  • people so socially disoriented and mentally numb can make light and justify anything. a heroin addict can justify heroin when obviously it's not actually logical.

  • Whether it was a joke or not, how many warped people reading that article (lets face it you'd have to be to even buy it!) will take it literally?

  • @mysticlinguistic it is satire obviously.. many people who are not accustomed to american writing or culture will definitely misinterpret it. it took me some time to understand it. when i first discovered BIONK i was so shocked. but i caught on and just dazed off. i went to counseling to help deal with the psychological residual of these things.

  • what a fucking stupid bitch, there are things you just don't joke about. nowadays it even isn't strange to see misogonistic women, it's really sad

  • @friszta if it makes you feel an better. she not even good looking or hot. it embarrasses herself. even the clueless-est of men would realize OKAY so a female writer wrote this, they would realize she is just selling herself out to please us men...well.. IDK... karma...

  • @friszta this is not unusual to have a female behind this misogynistic behavior, look at other industries such as porn lad-mags they also have women editors and people who suggest this and that. they make decisions who should get it and who should not. those women who do make those decisions are not good looking. they realize this themselves. that are in the backstage. so humiliating. check out VS sports illustrated ....

  • @friszta it is a common technique or background you see with other forwarding agendas of people with these nasty depictions. if you realize of such a person like this, just ignore her and do not be her friend. ugly chicks are the worst...LOL...uh.. well, freedom of speech. freedom of well. if they choose to make themselves like an idiot then they do

  • Rough sex? I like rough sex, i like playful sex...there is a difference between energetic sex and actual, physical assault and abuse, which is what they are talking about!

  • wow ok so does it make racist jokes alright WTH there is a line and just cause you put it in a joke does not make it alright to cross it wth if everyone in this world was like her nobody could take anything seriously SHE NEEDS TO KNOW ABUSE IS NOT FUNNY

  • crazyass lady

  • Uh, wasn't "blackface" just "humor" and "entertainment?" How can people not understand that humor isn't immune from selling an idea? That's the whole point of the damn joke.

  • if it's "just a joke" and i need to "lighten up", then why did i have to confirm my age before i saw this? there's no nudity, just OFFENSIVENESS.

HA HA, so FUNNY i FORGOT TO LAUGH.

  • Do you think this deserves to be censored?

    I don't think so.

  • I think you are surrounding yourself with too much lavender color. otherwise I can't explain how stupid you are.

  • I totally agree.

  • I agree with the editor. Yes, anything can be made into a joke. But, that doesn't necessarily mean that anything SHOULD be made into a joke. She seems to be quite the nihilist.

  • this is sick

  • i'm sure some people joke about murder too.

  • Sarcasm doesn't register with many people brains when in print...bad joke too.

  • I gotta say Challenging Media is all about taking things out of context. I'm not saying women shouldn't be upset about abuse against women. It's horrible and should never be done, but the thing about comedy is that it shouldn't have any boundaries, especially if you agree with free speech. I'm all in favor of CM speaking out against it, but call it for what it is, low class and just crude, not making it seem like the magazine advocates violence against women.

  • What context are you talking about? There's the social context, which sure could be used to justify Blackface. What is your opinion of Blackface?

  • By that I mean the narrator says "they find humor in sexual assault" basically phrasing it as "they think violence against women is funny" when it's more the case they are pointing to the absurdity of a Donkey Punch as being sexually gratifying. In every case I've heard it mentioned it was in that frame of context. To me it's like taking cartoon violence seriously on say Family Guy and saying "Look they hit Stewie. The writers think violence against children is funny" Absurdity = Humor.

  • With Blackface it again depends on the context. Is it meant to be racist as in to mock another ethnic group to denigrate them? In that case I wouldn't find it funny. But if blackface was used to show the absurdity of racism and stereotypes, say in the Dave Chappelle Racial Pixie skit, then that's fine. Again it's the context which it is used.

  • No reasonable woman would ever allow a man to do that to her. It's just a joke, and an unfunny one at that... but still a joke.

  • The comedic aspect of something does NOT absolve it of social responsibility. Likewise, we all know that Blackface comedy is no longer appropriate.

  • It's a joke, no one would ever do that.

  • some people are into that.

  • LOL@ the angry man-hating lesbians!!!
