Thanks to Dennis at Colony on Broadway for suggesting a Nancy CD many years ago. My car has had at least one Nancy in the changer ever since. I never saw her perform as she was already gone when she came into my life. A great loss. Her voice doesn't paint pictures, it paints emotions.
I had the great fortune to see her sing at Carnegie Hall. She sang "I Have Dreamed" and was wonderful. She was a great talent, taken from us way too soon.
I am eternally grateful to an aunt who made me aware of Nancy's music. I have all of her recordings and consider her among the vocal greats of the 20th century -- right up there with the likes of Sinatra, Clooney, Fitzgerald and Garland.
Nancy LaMott's voice was just beautiful -- her loss marked an end to a certain era, for me, of life in NYC -- when cabaret was still thriving and affordable, my friends were all alive and AIDS hadn't claimed so many lives, and Nancy and Chris shuttled back and forth from NYC to Atlantic City and just made the world brighter for all of us. Her loss is heartbreaking, but I have my CDs to remind me of a time in my life that I cherish and miss deeply. Thank you so much for remembering her.
Thank you SO much, mitchellivers, for posting my #1 favorite song.
You have helped presenting the exquisite beauty of Nancy's (and David's and Chris's) musicianship to many more fans who have yet to discover this gone-but-never-forgotten star.
Good stuff. I have all of her cd's. I think my favorite song of her's was David Friedman's "We Live On Borrowed Time." Unfortunately she did. R.I.P. Nancy.
I absolutely adore Nancy- she has the voice of an angel- i get chills when i listen to her sing- than God for David Friedman and his devotion to Nancy- i preordered the cd/dvd set and i should get it by valentine's day- what great timing!!!
I only recently discovered Nancy LaMott, and I instantly fell in love with her singing. Listening to her songs gives me a lot of joy and pleasure. May she rest in peace knowing that she continues to entertain new fans.
So very beautiful. I am so happy to be able to see her sing, instead of just hearing it. I hear there is a DVD coming out soon with many of her performances on it. Is this true?
I love Nancy LaMott - who couldn't? This is my favorite song from her - the most tender love song David Friedman ever wrote. Thanks Nancy, Christopher, & David for the music.
I discovered Nancy Lamott's recordings after she left us and became an immediate fan. It's really great to see some of these old clips from TV. Thanks for providing them. She was and IS awesome!
Nancy Lamott is fantastic. I got married to her singing "We can be kind", she really knows how to put really heart into her singing. 6 years later and we are still going strong.
It doesn't get much better than Nancy LaMott - young singers getting into the business should watch these clips and listen to every recording of hers - like a masterclass in the art of song interpretation.

Mine arrived 2/16/08. Certainly worth the long wait to have Nancy right in the room. And the new CD, Ask Me Again, shipped yesterday from Amazon.
