I love Audray Tautou, she's friggin' beautiful. But am I the only one who thinks that she looks a little weird in the DVD cover? x) Like a female version of mr. Bean or something...
@konstantinek Too many people would be distracted by the beautiful music to notice you on the most important day of your life, though! (Not saying that you're not important, but I mean, c'mon, listen to this music!)
I don't know if my grandpa was drafted but my Dad volunteered and fought in Vietnam. My Dad asked to go to the front lines. Anyway, I have never said anything against the French and I think they are very courageous. Actually, making that law against the Muslim burkas takes a lot of courage due to Muslim extremist fanaticism.
The French are not cowards..because they are not warmongers like americans does not mean they are cowards. Read European history, read about Napoleon, Charles Martel, WW 1. Remember that American history is young compared to the European.
Do not assume because you live in the USA you live in the best country, it is patriotic to think so, but the reality is this country is run by corporations, there is nothing great about that.
@KrisMayeaux USA got involved in the war because of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The USA made tons of money in WWI and WW2 by SELLING weapons to both sides. The USA came into both wars at the last minute after the Russian did most of the work. The USA brought several NAZI scientist to the USA because of all the discovery these scientist made after experimenting on JEWS. USA wanted the formula for Mustard gas which the Germans used in WW1. The USA does things for self-interest.
@KrisMayeaux That is the only answer any American can come up with. So typical. My grandparents fought in wars to, but I never bring that up because all wars do is kill people there is nothing to be proud of and nothing super hero about it. READ and STUDY USA history instead of only focusing on that part. Sure it makes your country look so good and great and so Super Super hero like. Now read the garbage part of USA history, then it evens out. French fought many wars before USA even exsisted.
@neukertification You can say that the US did everything for self interest but my it was my grandpa who risked his life for the French, none the less. After the lesson of WWII the US decided to take a more active role in keeping peace, and not wait until nearly too late to make a difference. There are different ways of looking at things. Aside from that, many of my ancestors are from France and I love France and I have a very good friend there that I plan to visit in Bordeaux.
@KrisMayeaux Did your grandpa volunteer of was he drafted? It is people and it is only the americans that always make remarks of how they saved the French and that they are cowards, only americans. Not the Russians, not the British and not the Australian and not the Canadians. These countries fought also in the war. So you can be proud of your grandpa, but he did not fight for the freedom of France, the french participated big time in there own liberation. By the way I am European.
@neukertification Yes, but I don't knew why American love so much the French Bashing, I think it's also because we put our veto in the UN against the war in Iraq
in the US, you dont have a strong French community, we don't have a strong diaspora and we never immigrate in your country like the Irish, German or Italian, so the most American knew only some stereotypes by the media even though they never saw a French in their whole life...we are not so weak nation that u think
@burtoncaly Thank you for your answer. I just don't like the fact that people are so misinformed about other countries because they have been brainwashed all their lives how great their country is, YEAH, if you compare your yourself to third world countries.
They do not know that the French have one of the best healthcare systems in the world. It is the ignorance and the arrogance that bothers me. The Frech are very proud of their culture, and they have substance, not superficiality like USA.
@neukertification I'm confused. In general, Americans don't bash the French. Most of us do have a deep respect for French culture. However, stating that Americans are superficial, ignorant and arrogant seems very hippocritical to me when you brag about how proud you are of your culture. There are ignorant people everywhere, and Americans have the right to be proud of our culture too. Can we agree on that? There's no reason to bash the USA for not having 'substance.'
@emilyr30 USA does not have culture, maybe pop culture, most of it is marketing. consumerism. Why am I hypocritical? First I am not an American Citizen and second I have lived in the USA since the 80's and know enough about its people and so called "culture". I have lived in Europe for many years and consider myself still European in my heart and mind. I don't live here because I LOVE IT HERE, but my husband and kids are American.
The film is fucked up, its sad depressing, wierd, scary and makes life seem worthles, its not good for a movie, movies are better off sending positive emotions, but the music in this film is abosolutley fantastic. See french can do more than lose wars ;)
This song always cheers me up! I always turn to this film whenever I'm feeling sick or just in need of a good cheering up. This is the ultimate feel-better movie!
Magical movie with a beautiful soundtrack (India invented orchestra for entertaining royalty along with many instruments we know today don'tcha know), but she overuses that same smile to the side and slight head tilt downward way too much. It just loses its effect. Jean Pierre What'shisface shoulda really made a note and change of that.
